INTRODUCTION  
Your 900 MHz Cordless Telephone is designed to give you flexibility in use  
and high quality perform ance. To get the m ost from your new cordless  
telephone, we suggest that you take a few m inutes right now to read  
through this instruction m anual.  
IMPORTANT: Because cordless phones operate on electricity, you should have at  
least one phone in your home that is not cordless, in case the power in your home  
goes out.  
CALLER ID  
This feature allows you to see either the caller's num ber or the caller's  
nam e and num ber before you answer the phone.  
CALL WAITING  
This feature allows you to answer incom ing calls while you talk on the  
phone.  
CALL WAITING ID  
This feature, known as Type II Caller ID, allows you to see the nam e and  
phone num ber associated with an incom ing call while you talk on the  
phone.  
CALL WAITING ID OPTIONS  
This advanced Call Waiting feature allows you m ore options when  
answering a call as you talk on the phone, including forward,  
announcem ent, drop, answer, hold, and conference.  
VOICE MESSAGING  
This feature requires a subscription with your local phone com pany. It  
allows callers to leave m essages while you talk on the phone or if you are  
unable to answer the call. The Voice Message Indicator blinks to indicate a  
waiting m essage.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN  
MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS  
You need an RJ 11 type m odular jack, which is the m ost  
com m on type of phone jack and m ight look like the one  
pictured here. If you don’t have a m odular jack, call your  
local phone com pany to find out how to get one installed.  
DIGITAL SECURITY SYSTEM  
Your cordless phone uses a digital security system to provide protection  
against false ringing, unauthorized access, and charges to your phone line.  
When you place the handset in the base, the unit verifies its security code.  
After a power outage, you should place the handset in the base for about  
30 seconds to reset the code.  
INSTALLATION NOTE: Some cordless telephones operate at frequencies that  
may cause interference to nearby TVs and VCRs. To minimize or prevent such  
interference, the base of the cordless telephone should not be placed near or on  
top of a TV or VCR. If interference continues, moving the cordless telephone  
farther away from the TV or VCR will often reduce or eliminate the interference.

DESKTOP INSTALLATION  
1. Make sure m ounting bracket is securely fastened.  
2. Set RINGER switch (on the handset) to ON.  
3. Plug the power supply cord into the POWER 9V DC jack on the base and  
into an AC outlet.  
4. Place handset in the base to charge for 12 hours. The CHARGE light (on  
the base) com es on to indicate that the battery is charging. If yo u d o n ’t  
c h a rg e t h e h a n d s e t b a t t e ry p ro p e rly (fo r 1 2 h o u rs ) w h e n yo u  
firs t s e t u p t h e p h o n e , p e rfo rm a n c e o f t h e b a t t e ry w ill b e  
c o m p ro m is e d .  
5. Plug the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the base and into  
a m odular jack.  
6. Raise the base antenna.  
NOTE : The phone automatically defaults to touch-tone dialing. To change to  
pulse (rotary) dialing, see “Tone/Pulse Dialing”. If you don’t know which type  
of service you have, check with the phone company.  
CAUTION: Use only the Thomson 5-4081 power supply that is compatible  
with this unit. Using other power supplies may damage the unit.

WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION  
Because it is necessary to charge  
the handset for 12 hours prior to  
connecting the phone for use the  
first tim e, it is better to leave the  
unit on a flat surface during initial  
charge before attem pting to hang it  
on the wall.  
1. Make sure the m ounting bracket  
is securely fastened.

Rotate it so that the bottom of  
the phone is flat. Reattach the  
m ounting bracket by inserting  
the tabs into the slots on the top  
of the unit first, and then

snapping the bottom tabs into  
place.  
6. Plug the short telephone line  
cord into the jack m arked TEL  
LINE on the back of the unit and  
plug the other end into a

m odular wall jack.  
7. Slip the m ounting holes over  
the wall plate posts and slide  
the unit down firm ly into place.  
(Wall plate not included.)

8. Rem ove the handset hook; turn  
it upside down, and put it back  
in the slot. You need to do this  
so the handset doesn’t fall out  
of the base.

to advance to another channel.  
RINGER  
The handset RINGER switch can be  
set to ON or OFF. If the switch is off,  
the unit will not ring.  
MUTE  
To prevent the person you are  
speaking to from hearing you while  
on a call, press the PROG/MUTE  
button. MUTE shows in the display.

Your phone receives and displays  
inform ation transm itted by your  
local phone com pany. This  
inform ation m ay include the date,  
tim e, and caller's phone num ber, or  
the date, tim e, and the caller's  
nam e and phone num ber.  
RECEIVING AND STORING  
CALLS  
When you receive a call, the  
inform ation is transm itted by the  
phone com pany to your Call  
Waiting ID Telephone between the  
first and second ring. You can  
m onitor the inform ation as it  
appears in the display and decide  
whether to answer the call. If you  
are not at hom e, your telephone  
stores the inform ation for you to  
see when you return.

The Caller ID m em ory holds 40  
nam es and num bers. When the  
m em ory is full, only the m ost  
recent calls are stored. The oldest  
num ber stored in the m em ory is

— Is the base power cord connected to a working  
outlet?  
— Is the IN USE light on?  
— Is the telephone line cord connected to the base  
unit and the wall jack?  
• Disconnect the base from the wall jack and connect  
another phone to the sam e jack. If there is no dial tone  
in the second phone, the problem m ight be your  
wiring or local service.  
• Is the handset out of the base unit’s range? Move  
closer to the base unit.  
• Make sure the battery is properly charged (12 hours).  
• Is the battery pack installed correctly?  
• If the phone still does not work, disconnect the power  
cord and rem ove the battery pack. Then reconnect the  
power cord and reinstall the battery pack. Place  
handset in the base for 30 seconds to allow it to  
reinitialize.

CHANGING THE BATTERY  
Make sure the telephone is OFF before you replace battery.  
1. Rem ove the battery com partm ent door.  
2. Disconnect the cord attached to the battery pack and  
rem ove the battery pack from the handset.  
3. Insert the new battery pack and connect the cord into  
the jack inside the handset.  
4. Put the battery com partm ent door back on.  
5. Place handset in the base to charge. If you don’t charge  
the handset battery properly (for 12 hours) when you first set up  
the phone and/or when you install a new battery pack, the  
battery’s long-term performance will be compromised.

INTRODUCCIÓN  
Su Teléfono Inalám brico de 900 MHz está diseñado para darle la m ayor  
flexibilidad de uso y la m ás alta calidad de funcionam iento. Para  
aprovechar al m áxim o su nuevo teléfono, le sugerim os que se tom e unos  
m inutos ahora m ism o para leer este m anual de instrucciones.  
IMPORTANTE: Debido a que los teléfonos inalámbricos operan con  
electricidad, usted debe tener por lo menos un teléfono en casa que no sea  
inalámbrico, en caso de que haya un corte de corriente en su casa.  
IDENTIFICADOR DE LLAMADAS (CALLER ID)  
Esta función le perm ite ver el núm ero o el nom bre de la persona que  
llam a antes de que usted conteste el teléfono.  
LLAMADA EN ESPERA (CALL WAITING)  
Esta función le perm ite contestar llam adas entrantes m ientras usted está  
hablando por teléfono.  
IDENTIFICADOR DE LLAMADA EN ESPERA (CALL WAITING ID)  
Tam bién conocido com o Identificador de Llam adas Tipo II, esta función le  
perm ite ver el nom bre y núm ero de una llam ada que entra m ientras usted  
está hablando por teléfono con otra persona.  
IDENTIFICADOR DE LLAMADA EN ESPERA CON OPCIONES (CALL  
WAITING ID WITH OPTIONS)  
Esta es una función avanzada del servicio de Llam ada en Espera que le  
brinda m ás opciones cuando usted contesta una llam ada m ientras está en  
el teléfono hablando con otra persona, incluyendo transferencia, anuncio,  
desconectar, contestar, poner en espera, y conferencia.  
MENSAJE DE VOZ  
Esta función requiere la suscripción al servicio a través de su com pañía  
telefónica les perm ite a las personas que llam an, dejar m ensajes m ientras  
usted está en el teléfono, o si usted no está disponible para contestar el  
teléfono. El indicador de correo de voz (Voice Message) parpadeará para  
indicar que hay un m ensaje esperando.

REQUISITOS DE CONEXIÓN  
Para conectar el teléfono se necesita un enchufe m odular  
RJ 11, que es el tipo de enchufe m ás com ún y se parece al  
ilustrado. Si usted no tiene este tipo de enchufe, llam e a su  
com pañía telefónica local para preguntar cóm o conseguirlo.  
SISTEMA DE SEGURIDAD DIGITAL  
Su teléfono inalám brico utiliza un sistem a de seguridad digital para  
ofrecerle protección contra el tim brado falso, acceso no autorizado, o  
cargos a su línea telefónica.  
Cuando usted coloca el auricular sobre la base, el aparato verifica su  
código de seguridad. Después de un corte de corriente o cam bio de  
batería, usted debe colocar el auricular en la base durante 30 segundos  
aproxim adam ente para re-program ar el código.  
OBSERVACIÓN SOBRE LA INSTALACIÓN: Algunos teléfonos inalámbricos  
funcionan en frecuencias que pueden interferir con los televisores o  
videocaseteras. Para reducir al mínimo o impedir dichas interferencias, la base  
del teléfono inalámbrico no debería colocarse cerca ni encima de uno de estos  
aparatos. Si la interferencia continúa, aleje el teléfono del televisor o de la  
videocasetera.

INSTALACIÓN SOBRE ESCRITORIO O SUPERFICIE PLANA  
1. Asegúrese de que la placa para m ontaje esté sujeta firm em ente.  
2. Program e el selector del tim bre (“RINGER”) del auricular en posición de  
encendido (“ON”).  
3. Conecte el cable de corriente al enchufe m arcado “POWER 9V DC” en la  
base y a un enchufe de corriente AC.  
4. Coloque el auricular sobre la base para cargar durante 12 horas. El indicador de  
carga -”CHARGE/ IN USE”- (en la base) se iluminará para indicar que la batería  
se está cargando. Si usted no carga el teléfono adecuadamente (durante 12  
horas) cuando usted instala inicialmente su teléfono, la calidad del  
funcionamiento de la batería podría deteriorarse.  
5. Conecte el cable de línea telefónica al enchufe m arcado “TEL LINE” en  
la base y a un enchufe m odular.  
6. Levante la antena de la base.  
NOTA: El teléfono automaticamente se pasa a modalidad de marcado por  
tono (touch-tone). Para cambiar a modalidad de disco (rotatorio), vea  
“Marcado por Tono/ Disco”. Si usted no sabe qué tipo de servicio tiene,  
verifique con su compañía telefónica.  
CUIDADO: Use unicamente el cable de corriente Thomson 5-4081 que es  
compatible con esta unidad. El uso de otros cables de corriente puede resultar  
en daño al aparato.

Debido a que es necesario cargar  
el auricular durante 12 horas antes  
de conectar el teléfono para usarlo  
por prim era vez, es m ejor dejar el  
aparato sobre una superficie plana  
durante la etapa de carga inicial  
antes de intentar colgarlo sobre la  
pared.
