Check that you have the following items:  
This unit has two types of input jack:  
PHONES IN (A) and LINE IN (B).  
PHONES IN (A) is for input from a  
headphone jack and LINE IN (B) is for  
input from LINE OUT jack.

This transmitter can be connected to two  
different audio sources at the same time  
using both inputs, PHONES IN (A) and  
LINE IN (B).  
Select position A or B on the transmitter to  
select transmitter input. Audio/ video  
equipment connected to PHONES IN (A)  
will be output when in position A, and  
audio/ video equipment connected to LINE  
IN (B) will be output when in position B.  
If your audio/ video equipment has a stereo mini  
jack (LINE OUT), connect the stereo mini jack  
(LINE OUT) to LINE IN (B) of the transmitter by  
using optional connecting cord RK-G136HG.  
Connecting the LINE OUT jack of your audio/  
video equipment to PHONES IN (A) of the  
transmitter will cause low or muffled sound. To  
connect to PHONES IN (A) of the transmitter  
with the supplied cord, use a headphones jack on  
the audio/ video equipment.

(size AA) battery.

NC-AA (HJ) for the first time, charge the  
battery in the following manner.  
NC-AA (HJ) is applicable only for Sony  
cordless/ wireless headphone systems.

1 Open the battery compartment lid on  
top of the left housing.  
Polarity of the plug  
• If the plug of the AC power adaptor does not fit  
in the AC outlet, use the supplied AC plug  
adaptor. (tourist model only)  
• When you connect the connecting cord directly  
to an earphone jack, the audio signal will not be  
output through the right channel. In such a  
case, use the separately sold PC-236HG plug  
adaptor.  
2 Insert the supplied rechargeable battery  
into the battery compartment by  
matching the ] on the battery to the ]  
terminal on the lid.

Check the connection to make sure that the  
contact pins are properly fitted into the  
contact holes on the headphones, or if the  
headphones are rested on the transmitter  
correctly.  
3 Close the battery compartment lid.

To charge the battery, follow steps 4 and 5.  
Since little electric current is used for  
charging, there is no need to worry about  
overcharging.

Install the battery in the same manner as  
described in steps 1 through 3 of “Charging  
the headphones’ battery.”  
When a R6 (size AA) dry battery is  
installed, the battery charge function is not  
activated.  
5 Rest the headphones on the transmitter  
so that the contact pins fit into the  
contact holes on the headphones. The

Pull up the self adjusting band, and check  
that the headphones’ power indicator lights  
in red. You can now use the headphones.  
Charge the battery or install a new dry  
battery, if the power indicator light is weak  
or turned off and the sound becomes  
distorted or has a lot of noise.  
1 Turn on the audio/ video equipment  
connected to the transmitter.  
When the audio signal is input, the  
transmitter turns on automatically and  
the infrared emitters glow. If the  
transmitter is connected to the  
headphone jack, set the volume control  
of the audio source equipment as high  
as possible but not so high that the  
audio signal gets distorted. (Around  
level 5 or 6 on the volume control  
should be appropriate.)

2 Put on the headphones and the power  
turns on automatically.  
• During recharging, the transmitter is turned off  
automatically.  
The power indicator glows red when  
the power turns on.  
• When the life of the rechargeable battery is  
shortened by half even after a proper  
recharging, take the headphone set to a Sony  
dealer and have the old rechargeable battery  
replaced by a new one.

When you remove the headphones, the  
power turns off automatically. Do not pull  
up the self adjusting band when not using  
the headphones, otherwise the headphones  
will be switched on.

If a hissing noise is heard when the infrared  
rays are obstructed, or the headphones are  
used outside of the effective range (see the  
next section), the mute function will be  
activated and the sound will not be heard  
from the headphones. To restore the  
sound, move nearer toward the transmitter  
or remove the obstruction.

• If you use the headphones at too great a  
distance from the transmitter, you may hear a  
hissing noise and if there is an object between  
the receiver and the transmitter, the sound may  
be interrupted. These phenomena are inherent  
to infrared ray communication and do not  
mean that there is a problem with the unit  
itself.

transmitter turns off automatically.  
• Do not cover the infrared sensors with your  
hands or hair.

headphones off before the transmitter turns  
off and rest them on the transmitter.  
Otherwise you may hear some noise when  
the infrared rays are suddenly cut off.  
• The infrared rays will not penetrate walls or  
opaque glass, therefore, be sure to stay within  
sight of the transmitter.  
• When you use the headphones inside the area  
illustrated in the diagrams, the transmitter can  
be placed in the front, behind or by the side of  
the listener.

The infrared emitters light up when the  
transmitter is turned on. The brightness of the  
emitters may not be uniform, however, this is not  
a malfunction.

• The CE mark on the unit is valid only for  
products marketed in the European  
Union.  
• When the transmitter is not to be used for  
a long period of time, disconnect the AC  
power adaptor from the AC outlet  
holding the plug. Do not pull on the  
cord.  
When the ear pads become dirty or  
damaged, you can get replacements from  
your Sony dealer. Replace them as  
illustrated below.  
1 Remove the old ear pad by pulling it off  
from the driver unit.  
• Do not leave the cordless stereo  
headphone system in a location subject to  
direct sunlight, heat or moisture.

Avoid using headphones at high volume.  
Hearing experts advise against continuous,  
loud and extended play. If you experience  
a ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or  
discontinue use.  
2 Place the new ear pad around the driver  
unit as illustrated.

Keep the volume at a moderate level. This  
will allow you to hear outside sounds and  
to be considerate to the people around you.  
If you have any questions or problems  
concerning the system that are not covered  
in this manual, please consult the nearest  
Sony dealer.  
Be sure to bring the headphones and the  
transmitter to the Sony dealer when  
requiring repair work.

connected to the LINE IN (B) of the  
transmitter, increasing the volume of the  
connected audio/ video equipment may  
cause distortion. Connect the headphones  
jack output instead to PHONES IN (A) as  
described in “Setting up the transmitter.”

Si votre appareil audio/ vidéo a une miniprise  
stéréo (LINE OUT), reliez la miniprise stéréo  
(LINE OUT) à la prise LINE IN (B) du  
transmetteur à l’aide d’un cordon de liaison  
RK-G136HG proposé en option. Si la prise LINE  
OUT de votre appareil audio/ vidéo est raccordée  
à PHONES IN (A) du transmetteur, le son sera  
faible ou étouffé. Pour relier la prise PHONES IN  
(A) du transmetteur avec le cordon fourni,  
utilisez la prise de casque de l’appareil audio/  
vidéo.  
Le transmetteur peut être relié en même  
temps à deux sources audio différentes par  
les deux entrées PHONES IN (A) et LINE  
IN (B).  
Réglez sur la position A ou B du  
transmetteur pour sélectionner l’entrée du  
transmetteur. L’appareil audio/ vidéo  
raccordé à PHONES IN (A) fournira le son

• Si vous vous éloignez trop du transmetteur  
quand vous écoutez par le casque, vous pouvez  
entendre un sifflement. En outre si un objet se  
trouve entre le récepteur et le transmetteur, le  
son risque d’être interrompu. Ces phénomènes  
sont inhérents à la communication infrarouge et  
ne signifient pas que le système fonctionne mal.  
• Ne recouvrez pas les capteurs infrarouges avec  
la main ou une mèche de cheveux.  
• Comme les rayons infrarouges ne traversent ni  
les murs ni le verre opaque, le récepteur  
infrarouge doit être placé “en vue” du  
transmetteur.

Minibuchse (LINE OUT) hat, schließen Sie die  
Stereo-Minibuchse (LINE OUT) an LINE IN (B)  
der Sendeeinheit mit dem optionalen  
Verbindungskabel RK-G136HG an. Durch  
Anschließen der LINE OUT Buchse des Audio/  
Video-Geräts an PHONES IN (A) der  
Sendeeinheit wird schwacher oder verwaschener  
Klang erzeugt. Zum Anschließen an PHONES IN  
(A) der Sendeeinheit mit dem mitgelieferten  
Kabel verwenden Sie eine Kopfhörerbuchse am  
Audio/ Video-Gerät.  
Dieses Sendeeinheit kann mit beiden  
Eingängen, PHONES IN (A) und LINE IN  
(B) an zwei verschiedene Audioquellen  
gleichzeitig angeschlossen werden.  
Wählen Sie die Position A oder B an der  
Sendeeinheit, um den Sendeeinheitausgang  
zu wählen. Das Signal vom Audio/ Video-  
Gerät, das an PHONES IN (A)

Öffnen Sie das Batteriefach oben links  
am linken Gehäuse.

Kopfhörers rot aufleuchtet. Sie können jetzt  
den Kopfhörer verwenden. Wenn die  
Betriebsanzeige schwach wird oder erlischt,  
oder wenn der Klang schwach oder

Schalten Sie das an der Sendeeinheit  
angeschlossene Audio/ Video-Gerät  
ein.  
Wenn der Sendeeinheit ein  
Audiosignal zugeleitet wird, schaltet  
sie sich automatisch ein, und die  
Infrarotstrahler leuchten. Ist die  
Sendeeinheit an der Kopfhörerbuchse  
des Geräts angeschlossen, stellen Sie  
den Lautstärkeregler des Geräts  
möglichst hoch ein, ohne daß es jedoch  
zu Verzerrungen kommt. (Im

• Während des Ladevorgangs schaltet die  
Sendeeinheit automatisch aus.  
allgemeinen ist eine Pegeleinstellung  
von 5 oder 6 am günstigsten.)  
• Wenn die Lebensdauer der Akkubatterie auch  
nach vollständigem Aufladen auf etwa die  
Hälfte verringert ist, reichen Sie den Kopfhörer  
beim Sony-Fachhändler ein und lassen die alte  
Akkubatterie durch eine neue ersetzen.

Wenn Sie den Kopfhörer abnehmen,  
schaltet er automatisch aus. Ziehen Sie

der Kopfhörer nicht verwendet wird, weil  
er andernfalls einschaltet.

ungefähren, von den Infrarotstrahlen der  
Sendeeinheit überdeckten Bereich.

Wenn die Wiedergabe verrauscht ist, da der  
Infrarotstrahl durch ein Hindernis  
abgeschattet wird oder da sich der  
Kopfhörer außerhalb des  
Infrarotstrahlbereichs (siehe nächster  
Abschnitt) befindet, spricht die  
Stummschaltfunktion an und schaltet den  
Ton vollständig ab.  
Damit der Ton wieder zu hören ist,  
entfernen Sie das Hindernis bzw. gehen Sie  
dichter mit dem Kopfhörer an die  
Sendeeinheit heran.  
Hin w e ise  
• Wenn der Kopfhörer zu weit von der  
Sendeeinheit entfernt ist, kann der Ton  
verrauscht sein. Befindet sich ein Hindernis  
zwischen Kopfhörer und Sendeeinheit, kann  
der Ton vollständig unterbrochen sein. Es  
handelt sich dabei nicht um eine Störung des  
Systems.  
• Achten Sie darauf, daß die Infrarotsensoren  
nicht durch Ihre Hände oder Haare verdeckt  
werden.

• Wände, Milchglas usw. können vom

Die Sendeeinheit schaltet automatisch aus.  
• Sofern man sich innerhalb des im Diagramm  
dargestellten Bereichs befindet, kann sich die  
Sendeeinheit vorne, hinten oder an der Seite  
befinden.  
Na ch d e m Hö re n e in e s Pro g ra m m s,  
nehmen Sie den Kopfhörer ab, bevor die  
Sendegeeinheit ausschaltet, und legen ihn  
auf der Sendeeinheit ab.  
Andernfalls können Störgeräusche  
auftreten, wenn die Infrarotstrahlen  
plötzlich abgeschaltet werden.

Die Infrarot-Emitter leuchten auf, wenn die  
Sendeeinheit eingeschaltet wird. Die Helligkeit  
der Emitter kann ungleichmäßig sein, aber dies  
ist keine Fehlfunktion.

• Die CE-Marke am Gerät gilt nur für  
Geräte, die für die EG bestimmt sind.  
• Bei längerer Nichtverwendung der  
Sendeeinheit trennen Sie den Netzadapter  
von der Wandsteckdose ab. Ziehen Sie  
niemals am Kabel.  
• Stellen Sie das System nicht an Plätze, die  
direktem Sonnenlicht, Wärmequellen  
oder Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt sind.

Ziehen Sie das alte Ohrpolster aus der  
Nut des Muschelgehäuses heraus.

Sie die Lautstärke oder brechen Sie den  
Betrieb ab.

Bringen Sie das neue Ohrpolster wie in  
der Abbildung gezeigt an.

Stellen Sie stets nur einen mäßigen  
Lautstärkepegel ein, um  
Umgebungsgeräusche noch wahrnehmen  
zu können und Leute in lhrer Umgebung  
nicht zu stören.

Störungsüberprüfungen  
• Laden Sie die Akkubatterie auf, denn die  
Kopfhörer-Batterie ist schwach. Wenn  
die Betriebsanzeige auch nach dem  
Aufladen der Akkubatterie noch  
erloschen ist, lassen Sie die Akkubatterie  
beim Sony-Kundendienst ersetzen.  
• Wenn Sie eine handelsübliche  
Trockenbatterie verwenden, ersetzen Sie  
diese durch eine neue.  
Wenn das Ausgangssignal an der Kopfhörer-  
Buchse an LINE IN (B) am Sendegerät  
angeschlossen ist, wird durch Steigern der  
Lautstärke des angeschlossenen Audio/  
Video-Geräts Verzerrung verursacht.  
Verbinden Sie die Kopfhörer-

/ Schalten Sie zuerst die sendeeinheit ein,  
und setzen Sie dann den Kopfhörer auf.  
/ Den Anschluß des Audio/ Video-Geräts  
und des Netzadapters prüfen.  
/ Prüfen Sie, ob der Eingangswahlschalter in  
der richtigen Stellung steht.

/ Überprüfen, ob das Audio/ Video-Gerät  
eingeschaltet ist.  
/ Wenn die Sendeeinheit an der

angeschlossen ist, die Lautstärke am

fuente lo más alto posible pero de  
forma que la señal de audio no se

Cuando se quite los auriculares, la  
alimentación de los mismos se desconectará  
automáticamente. No tire de la banda  
autoajustable cuando no esté utilizando los  
auriculares, porque la alimentación de los  
mismos se conectaría.

Para restablecer el sonido, acérquese al  
transmisor o elimine la obstrucción.

• Si utiliza los auriculares demasiado lejos del

transmisor, el sonido puede interrumpirse.  
Estos fenómenos son inherentes a la

significan problema alguno de la propia  
unidad.  
• No cubra los sensores de rayos infrarrojos con

• Los rayos infrarrojos no atravesarán paredes ni
