Take care not to expose the equipment to salty air. Do not drop water on the equipment.

Do not open the marine pack underwater or at the beach. Preparation such as
installing and checking the equipment should be done in a place with low humidity
and no salty air.

When your camcorder is to be used near the sea for a long time, we recommend that
it be checked periodically by Sony dealer.
If the equipment becomes wet, take it immediately to the nearest Sony dealer for
preventive maintenance.
We recommend you use battery packs with a large capacity.

If you open and join the front and rear shells in a place with high temperature and
high humidity, moisture condensation may occur when you put the marine pack in
the water, causing the front glass to fog.
The waterproof integrity of the marine pack is maintained by the O-ring, and the
groove and surface where it touches. Be especially careful not to damage or deform
that area. For details, see “Note on the O-ring” (page 13).

Do not leave the marine pack under direct sunlight for a long period of time,
otherwise the temperature in the marine pack may rise and the equipment inside
may be damaged. If you can not avoid leaving the marine pack under direct sunlight,
be sure to cover the marine pack with a towel or other protection.
Do not throw the marine pack into the water. Lower it gently into the water.

Checking that the equipment operates correctly and that there is no water leakage at
a depth of about one meter (3 feet) before you dive deeper.

Be sure to follow the safety rules for diving, such as diving period and depth.
Remove the bubbles from the outside of the front glass before recording.
Sony dose not accept liability for damage to the video camera recorder, battery, etc.
in the marine pack or for the loss of prerecorded material if a water leakage caused
by incorrect operation occurs.

After recording in the sea, submerge the marine pack with the buckles tightly fastened
in fresh water, then wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Clean your camcorder and the inside of the marine pack with a soft dry cloth. Do not
use any type of solvent such as alcohol or benzine for cleaning, as this might damage
the finish.

Coat the O-ring slightly with the supplied grease, and put it in the groove correctly.
Join the front and rear shells then put in a cool place without fastening the buckles.
Prevent dust from collecting on the O-ring.

Avoid storing the marine pack in a cold, very hot or humid place, or together with
naphthalene or camphor, as these conditions might damage the unit.

When transporting the marine pack, be sure to remove your camcorder from it.
•
Avoid rough handling or a shock. We recommend to cover the marine pack with a
towel or other protection.

(1 ) Remove the lens cap, shoulder strap, or filter from the camcorder.
(2 ) Attach a charged battery pack.
(3 ) Insert a cassette tape.
(4 ) Attach the camera mounting shoe.
Remove the metal parts from the camera mounting shoe and fasten the screw.

(1 ) Remove the grip.
(2 ) Insert the dry batteries into the grip.
(3 ) Open the marine pack.
Unfasten the 3 buckles and open the marine pack.
(4 ) Attach the battery pack NP-F530 for the monitor.
Attach the supplied battery pack NP-F530 for the LCD monitor to the rear shell. Be sure
to charge the battery pack fully before attaching.

(1 ) Connect the monitor plug.
Connect the monitor plug to AUDIO VIDEO jack.
(2 ) Connect the remote plug and the microphone plug.
Connect the remote plug to l REMOTE (1 ) jack, and the microphone plug to MIC
(plug in power) jack (2 ).
(3 ) Attach the camcorder.
Insert the camera mounting shoe until it clicks.
(4 ) Attach the front shell to the rear shell.
Hold the both shells firmly and fasten 3 buckles securely.
Take care not to pinch the remote, microphone, and monitor cords. If this happens
water may leak in.
(5 ) Attach the grip.

the rear shell. The LCD screen is linked with the power of your camcorder.

Select V-OUT/ LCD in the DISPLAY menu, and press the DISPLAY button on your
camcorder before attaching it to the marine pack.

What is the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack
The “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack is a lithium battery pack which can exchange data
with compatible video equipment about its battery consumption.
Sony recommends that you use the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack with video
equipment having the

mark. When you use this battery pack with video
mark, the video equipment will indicate the
remaining battery time in minutes.* However, if you use it with video equipment not
having this mark, the remaining battery capacity will not indicated in minutes.
* The indication may not be accurate depending on the condition and environment
which the equipment is used under.

With normal operation, dry batteries will last for about 6 months.

If the marine pack is not used for long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid
possible damage from the battery leakage.

Do not try to recharge dry batteries.
If a battery leak should develop, carefully and thoroughly wipe away battery fluid
from the battery compartment before inserting new ones.

In such a case, remove the marine pack from the water as soon as possible, keeping it
horizontal. Be sure to surface following the safety rules for diving.
Dry the marine pack with a soft cloth and then open it.
To switch off the lamp, disconnect the remote control cable.
Check the cause of the leak.
If the camcorder is wet, take it to the nearest Sony dealer immediately.

Before opening the marine pack, rinse it with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.

When you open the marine pack, make sure you are dry. And take care that no water
drips from your wet suit.

When you open the marine pack, do not pull the monitor plug cord by force.
(1 ) Remove the grip.
(2 ) Unfasten 3 buckles and open the marine pack.
(3 ) Take the camcorder out of the front shell.

(4 ) Disconnect the remote plug and the microphone plug.
(5 ) Disconnect the monitor plug.
Also remove the battery pack for the LCD monitor.

The O-ring assures the waterproof function of the marine pack. To maintain waterproof
integrity, use it correctly. Incorrect handling may cause water to leak in.

Check that there are no scratches or cracks on the O-ring as they may allow water to
leak in. If there are scratches or cracks, replace the damaged O-ring with a new one. Do
not remove the O-ring from the groove with a metal tool or a tool with a sharp point.

Make sure there is no dust, sand or hair on the O-ring, in the groove, or on the surface
of the marine pack where the O-ring touches. If there is, clean them completely, or the
O-ring and the surface of the marine pack may be damaged and water may leak in.
Gre a se t h e O-rin g
Check that there are no cracks or dust on the O-ring, then coat it slightly with the
supplied grease using your finger. They will prevent wear. While applying the grease,
recheck for cracks or dust.
Never use cloth or paper to apply grease because the fibers may cling.
Do not use any type of grease other than the supplied one, or it may damage the O-ring.
If you run out of silicone grease (2-115-921-01) you can purchase it from your nearest
Sony Service Center.

Put the O-ring in the groove evenly. Never twist it.

When jointing the front and rear shells, take care not to pinch the O-ring between the
front and rear shells. If this happens, not only will the O-ring be damaged, but water
may leak in.
Use fu l life o f t h e O-rin g
Depending upon the maintenance and the length of use, we recommend changing the
O-ring every one or two years.
The O-ring (3-977-362-01) can be replaced at your nearest Sony Service Center.

Recording underwater is different from recording on land because it is affect by the
clarity, depth of the water and the light condition. The following are hints for good
recording underwater.

Water absorbs light, especially red light, so that objects in deep water are seen bluish.
The colour of objects is affected by the clarity of the water.
To record in natural colour, use a colour filter (not supplied).

The best recording time is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. When the sun its highest,
optimum results can be obtained.

Since the refractive index underwater is higher than that in air, an object appears 1/ 4
more closer, and therefore larger. This phenomenon affects the lens on the camcorder as
well as human eye. Using a wide-conversion lens (not supplied) is recommended.

When recording, keep your body stable.
An unstable shot will be magnified on the TV screen. Move the camcorder as slow as
possible. As most of the object underwater move, you can record a good program
without moving the camcorder.

Si vous ouvrez et refermez les coquilles avant et arrière dans un endroit soumis à une
température élevée et à une forte humidité, de l’humidité risque de se condenser
lorsque vous emmènerez le caisson étanche sous l’eau, provoquant ainsi l’apparition
de buée sur la vitre frontale.
L’étanchéité de ce caisson étanche est assurée par le joint torique et la rainure et les
surfaces avec lesquelles il est en contact. Veillez tout particulièrement à ne pas
endommager ni à déformer cette partie du caisson. Pour plus de détails, voir
“Remarque sur le joint torique” (page 13).

Ne laissez pas le caisson étanche exposé au rayonnement direct du soleil pendant une
période prolongée, faute de quoi la température risque de s’élever à l’intérieur du
caisson étanche et d’endommager l’appareil qui se trouve à l’intérieur. Si vous ne

Vérifiez si l’appareil fonctionne correctement et s’il n’y a pas de fuites d’eau à une
profondeur d’environ un mètre (3 pieds) avant de plonger plus profondément.
Conformez-vous aux règles de sécurité élémentaires pour la plongée telles que la
durée et la profondeur de plongée.
Chassez les bulles d’air de la partie extérieure de la vitre frontale avant de réaliser vos
prises de vue.

Après une prise de vue dans la mer, rincez le caisson étanche à l’eau douce avec les
boucles soigneusement fermées, et essuyez-le ensuite à l’aide d’un chiffon doux et sec.
Nettoyez votre caméscope et l’intérieur du caisson étanche au moyen d’un chiffon doux

Pour éteindre le témoin, débranchez le câble de télécommande.
Recherchez l’origine de la fuite.
Si le caméscope est mouillé, présentez-le immédiatement à un revendeur Sony.

Le joint torique assure l’étanchéité fonctionnelle du caisson étanche. Pour préserver
cette étanchéité, utilisez le caisson correctement. Des manipulations incorrectes peuvent
entraîner l’infiltration d’eau.

Vérifiez s’il n’y a pas d’égratignures ni de fissures sur le joint torique, car de l’eau

remplacez-le. Ne retirez pas le joint torique de la rainure au moyen d’un ustensile en
métal ni d’un ustensile pointu.

Assurez-vous qu’il n’y a pas de poussière, de sable ou de cheveux sur le joint torique,
dans la rainure ou sur les surfaces de contact entre le caisson étanche et le joint torique.
Si c’est le cas, éliminez-les complètement, faute de quoi le joint torique et la surface du
caisson étanche risquent de subir des dommages et de l’eau de s’infiltrer.

Après avoir vérifié s’il n’y a aucune fissure ni de poussière sur le joint torique,
recouvrez-le avec le doigt d’une légère couche de la graisse fournie. Vous le protégerez
ainsi contre l’usure. Pendant que vous appliquez la graisse, revérifiez la présence
éventuelle de fissures ou de poussière.
N’utilisez pas de chiffon ou de papier pour graisser le joint d’étanchéité parce que des
fibres risquent sinon d’adhérer au joint.
N’utilisez aucun autre type de graisse que la graisse fournie, car vous risqueriez sinon
d’endommager le joint torique.
Si vous tombez à court de graisse silicone (2-115-921-01), vous pouvez vous en procurer
dans un centre de service après-vente Sony.

Insérez le joint torique uniformément dans la rainure avec la partie effilée vers le haut.

La réalisation de prises de vue sous l’eau est différente des prises de vue sur la terre
ferme parce qu’elles sont affectées par la limpidité de l’eau, la profondeur et les
conditions d’éclairage. Voici quelques conseils qui vous permettront de réaliser de
bonnes prises de vue sous l’eau.

L’eau absorbe la lumière, et plus particulièrement les rouges, de telle sorte que des
sujets observés en profondeur paraissent bleuâtres. Le couleur des objets est affectée par

entre 10 heures et 14 heures. C’est lorsque le soleil se trouve au zénith que vous
obtiendrez les meilleurs résultats.

Comme l’indice de réfraction de l’eau est supérieur à celui de l’air, un objet apparaît
sous l’eau environ 1/ 4 plus proche et, donc, plus grand. Ce phénomène affecte aussi
bien l’objectif du caméscope que l’oeil humain. L’utilisation d’un convertisseur grand-
angulaire (non fourni) est conseillée.

Pendant les prises de vue, gardez le corps dans une position stable.
L’instabilité d’une prise de vue est amplifiée sur l’écran d’un téléviseur. Déplacez par
conséquent le caméscope le plus lentement possible. Comme la plupart des objets sous
l’eau sont en mouvement, vous pouvez réaliser une bonne prise de vue sans devoir
bouger le caméscope.

Si abre y une las cubiertas delantera y trasera en un lugar con alta temperatura y
humedad, puede producirse condensación de la humedad al situar el portacámara
subacuático en el agua, causando que se empañe el cristal delantero.
La capacidad de inmersión del portacámara subacuático se mantiene por medio del
anillo en O, y por la ranura y superficie en que hace contacto. Tenga especial cuidado
de no dañar o deformar dicha parte. Para más información, consulte “Nota sobre el

(1 ) Conecte el enchufe del monitor.
Conecte el enchufe del monitor a la toma AUDIO VIDEO.
(2 ) Conecte el enchufe remoto y el enchufe del micrófono.
Conecte el enchufe remoto a la toma l REMOTE (1 ), y el enchufe del micrófono a la
toma MIC (enchufe de alimentación) (2 ).
(3 ) Fije la videocámara.
Inserte la zapata de montaje de la cámara hasta oír un chasquido.
(4 ) Fije la cubierta delantera a la cubierta trasera.
Sujete ambas cubiertas y cierre firmemente los tres enganches.
Tenga cuidado de no atrapar los cables remoto, del micrófono y de monitor. En caso
contrario, puede introducirse agua.

La imagen no aparece en la pantalla LCD con sólo fijar el paquete de pilas a la
cubierta trasera. La pantalla LCD está conectada a la alimentación de la videocámara.

DISPLAY y pulse el botón DISPLAY de la videocámara antes de instalarla en el
portacámara subacuático.

Qué es el paquete de pilas “InfoLITHIUM”
El paquete “InfoLITHIUM” consiste en un paquete de pilas de litio que puede
intercambiar datos con un equipo de vídeo compatible acerca del consumo de las
pilas.

Sony recomienda que utilice el paquete “InfoLITHIUM” con equipos de vídeo que
tengan la marca
. Cuando lo utilice con equipos de vídeo con la marca
, dichos equipos indicarán la carga restante de las pilas en minutos.* Sin
embargo, al utilizar equipos de vídeo que no tienen dicha marca, la carga restante de
las pilas no se indicará.

Para apagar la lámpara, desconecte el cable de control remoto.
Compruebe la causa de la fuga de agua.
Si se ha mojado la videocámara, llévela inmediatamente al distribuidor Sony más
cercano.

Antes de abrir el portacámara subacuático, enjuáguelo con agua dulce y séquelo con un
paño suave.

Al abrir el portacámara subacuático, compruebe que está seco y tenga cuidado para
que no se introduzca agua si sus ropas están mojadas.
Al abrir el portacámara subacuático, no tire a la fuerza del cable del enchufe de
monitor.

(2 ) Suelte los tres enganches y abra el portacámara.
(3 ) Retire la videocámara de la cubierta delantera.
Sujete la zapata de montaje de la cámara por los botones de fijación y extraiga la
videocámara.

El anillo en O asegura la función de inmersión de este producto deportivo. Para
mantener la integridad de dicha función, utilícelo correctamente. Su empleo inadecuado
puede causar que se introduzca agua.

Compruebe que no hay arañazos o grietas en el anillo en O que puedan permitir la
introducción de agua. Si las hubiera, sustituya el anillo en O por otro nuevo. No lo retire
de la ranura con una herramienta metálica o que tenga puntas afiladas.

Compruebe que no hay polvo, arena o cabellos en el anillo en O, y en la ranura o en la
superficie del portacámara subacuático en que hace contacto el anillo. En caso contrario,
límpielos por completo, o el anillo y la superficie del portacámara pueden dañarse y
puede introducirse agua.

Compruebe que no hay grietas o polvo sobre el anillo en O y recúbralo con una
pequeña cantidad de la grasa suministrada utilizando los dedos. Esto impedirá el
desgaste. Al aplicar la grasa, vuelva a comprobar si hay grietas o polvo.
No utilice un paño o papel para aplicar la grasa, ya que pueden quedar adheridas las
fibras.
No utilice un tipo de grasa distinto al suministrado, o puede dañar el anillo en O.
Si se acaba esta grasa de silicona (2-115-921-01) puede adquirir más en su centro de
servicio Sony más cercano.

Al unir las cubiertas delantera y trasera, tenga cuidado de no atrapar el anillo en O
entre ambas. Si esto ocurre, se dañará el anillo y es posible que se introduzca agua.

Dependiendo de su mantenimiento y tiempo de uso, recomendamos cambiar el anillo
en O anualmente o cada dos años.

La grabación subacuática es distinta a la que se realiza en tierra, debido a tiene los
efectos de la claridad, profundidad del agua y condiciones de iluminación. A
continuación, se dan algunos consejos para realizar grabaciones subacuáticas correctas.

El agua absorbe la luz, especialmente la de color rojo, por lo que los objetos a gran
profundidad se ven azulados. El color de los objetos se ve afectado por la claridad del
agua.
Para grabar con colores naturales, utilice un filtro de color (no suministrado).

El período más adecuado para grabar es entre 10:00 a.m. y 2:00 p.m. Cuando el sol está
más alto se obtienen resultados óptimos.

El índice de refracción es más alto bajo el agua que en el aire, por lo que los objetos
aparecen 1/ 4 más cerca y, por lo tanto, más grandes. Este fenómeno afecta al objetivo
de la videocámara y al ojo humano. Se recomienda el empleo de un objetivo de
conversión panorámica (no suministrado).

Mientras graba, mantenga el cuerpo estabilizado.
Los disparos inestables se verán más acusados en la pantalla del TV. Mueva la
videocámara lo más despacio posible. Como la mayor parte de los objetos bajo el agua
están en movimiento, puede realizar una correcta grabación sin mover la videocámara.
