BASIC TV CONNECTIONS
Direct Cable Connection:

our Cable TV input into your home may be a single (75 ohm)
Ycable or a converter box installation. In either case, the con-
nection to the TV is very easy. Follow the steps below to connect
your cable signal to your new television.

If your cable signal comes directly from a round 75Ω coaxial
cable use the following steps:

Connect the open end of the round Cable Company sup-

Plug the television in to the wall outlet and turn the TV on.
Refer to the AUTO PROGRAM feature to program all the
available channels on your cable signal.
Cable Box Connection:
If your cable signal comes from a cable box, use the following
steps:

Connect the open end of the round Cable Company sup-
plied cable to the cable signal IN(put) plug on the back of
the Cable Box.

Using a separate round coaxial cable, connect one end to the
OUT(put) plug on the back of the Cable Box.

Connect the other end of the round coaxial cable to the
75Ω input on the back of the television. Screw it down finger
tight.

Plug the television in to the wall outlet and turn the TV on.
Refer to the TUNER and AUTO PROGRAM features on
page 3 of this Quick Use Guide. TUNER should be set to the
CABLE option. AUTO PROGRAM can be set to program all
the available channels on your cable signal into the televi-
sion’s memory.

ANTENNA TV
Antenna Connection:
combination antenna receives normal broadcast chan-
Anels (VHF 2–13 and UHF 14–69). Your connection is
easy because there is only one 75Ω (ohm) antenna plug on
the back of your TV, and that’s where the antenna goes.

If your antenna has a round cable (75 ohm) on the end,
then you're ready to connect it to the TV.

If your antenna has flat, twin-lead wire (300 ohm), you
first need to attach the antenna wires to the screws on a
300- to 75-ohm adapter.

Push the round end of the adapter (or antenna) onto the
75Ω (ohm) plug on the back of the TV. If the round end of
the antenna wire is threaded, screw it down finger tight.

Plug the television in to the wall outlet and turn the TV
on. Refer to the TUNER and AUTO PROGRAM features on
page 3 of this Quick Use Guide. TUNER should be set to the
ANTENNA option. AUTO PROGRAM can be set to program
all the available channels on your cable signal into the televi-
sion’s memory.

ONSCREEN MENU
eatures for your television can be adjusted from within a
FMENU shown on the TV’s screen. A MENU is nothing more
than an 0nscreen list of features. Some of the features have sub-
menus but each MENU item can be adjusted or activated (deacti-
vated) by viewing the screen and simply pressing the proper button.

Press the STATUS/EXIT button on the remote to clear
the menu from the screen after an adjustment.
HELPFUL HINT
If you pass the feature you want, press the MENU button on the
remote to move back through the MENU one step at a time.
You can also just wait a few seconds after you finish the
feature adjustment and the menu will disappear from the
screen automatically.
The onscreen menu will time out and disappear from the screen
when you finish, or you can press the STATUS/EXIT button to
clear the menu from the screen.
LANGUAGE
or our Spanish speaking TV owners an onscreen LANGUAGE
Foption is present. With the LANGUAGE control you can set the
TV’s onscreen menu to be shown in either English or Spanish.

When finished, press the STATUS/EXIT button to
remove the menu from the TV’s screen.
Remember, the LANGUAGE control makes only the TV’s
onscreen MENU items appear in English or Spanish text. It
does not change the other onscreen text features, such as Closed
Captioning (CC), with TV shows.

TUNER MODE
he TUNER MODE control allows you to change the TV’s sig-
Tnal input to either ANTENNA, CABLE or AUTO mode. It’s
important for the TV to know what type of signal to look for.
(From a Cable TV signal or a normal Antenna signal.) In the
AUTO mode, when the AUTO PROGRAM feature is activated, the
TV will automatically choose the correct mode.

YTV) channels. This makes it easy for you to select only the TV
stations in your area when the CHANNEL (+), (–) buttons are
pressed.

Press the CURSOR RIGHT button to start the Auto
Program scanning of channels. Auto Programming will
store all available channels in the TV’s memory then tune
to the lowest available channel when done.
HELPFUL HINT
After you’ve run Auto Program, check out the results. Press the
CHANNEL (+) or (–) button and see which channels you can
select.
Remember, an antenna or cable TV signal must first be connect-
ed to your TV (see instructions for making connections on page
1 of this guide).
When finished, press the STATUS/EXIT button to
remove the menu from the TV’s screen.

ON or OFF.
If ON is selected the channel is skipped when scrolling
channels with the CH + or – buttons. If OFF is selected
the channel is not skipped when scrolling channels with the
CH + or – buttons.
HELPFUL HINT
The channels available for you to edit are the ones that the AUTO
PROGRAM feature found through a search of your TV antenna
or cable TV signals. Channels not found during the search are
marked SKIPPED.
When finished, press the STATUS/EXIT button to
remove the menu from the TV’s screen.

Auto Programming • The procedure of adding or

Status/Exit • Allows the user to quickly confirm what
channel number is currently being viewed. Status can
also be used to clear the Television of on screen displays
or information (rather than waiting for the displays to
“time out” or automatically disappear from the screen).
Onscreen Displays (OSD) • Refers to the wording or
messages generated by the television (or VCR) to help
the user with specific feature controls (color adjustment,
programming, etc.).
