If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that
the Stealthbox® be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these
instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:

Remove the jack (A), jack tools (B) and the rear window
sill plate (C).

With a Phillips screw driver, remove the two screws that
secure the passenger’s side c-pillar to the rear wall.
We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your authorized
JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary
tools and experience to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in
mind that your warranty coverage extends to two (2) years if your system is installed
or approved by your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you prefer to perform your own
installation, please read this installation guide completely before beginning the process.

Place the pair of supplied wax square into place.
Passenger's side(pictured):

With cut off wheels or a saw, remove the four (two are
circled) rear wall ledges. These support the folding floor
extensions.
Place one of the supplied wax squares onto the lower left
corner of the same emboss metal that the threaded stud
was located on.
Cut as flush to the rear wall as possible.
Driver's side(not pictured):
Place one of the supplied wax squares onto the lower right
corner of the same emboss metal that the threaded stud
was located on.

Remove the rear wall carpeting.

Thread the supplied pair of socket cup set screws into the
Stealthbox®, leaving 3/4-inch of thread exposed. Position
the Stealthbox® in the mounting location and press onto the
Stealthbox® firmly.
HD Series Only
With cutting wheels or a saw, cut the threaded studs from
the rear wall(B). Cut as flush to the rear wall as possible.

Remove the Stealthbox® carefully, leaving the wax squares
in place. The socket cup set screws will leave impressions in
the wax.
1500 Series Only
With a set of pliers, work the threaded studs(B), until they
break free from the rear wall. With an Unibit®, enlarge these
holes to an 1/2-inch diameter.
HD Series Trucks Only

Note: Before drilling, make sure that you are not
going to be drilling into any gas lines, electrical wiring
or anything else that might cause a reduction in your
weekly pay. Always wear eye protection when drilling!

Spray the areas that have been cut with paint. This is to
prevent any rust from forming.
With a drill and a 1/2-inch drill bit, drill through the
impression made in the wax square and through the cab
wall.
Remove the wax squares, as seen in the picture at left.

Place the rear wall carpet back into place.
Mount the driver's and the passenger's seat belt
retracting units, c-pillars and rear door sill plates back into
place.
Feel for both drilled holes in the rear wall through the
carpeting. With an utility knife cut an X that is in line with
these drilled holes.
1500 Series Trucks, go to STeP 19.
This is to allow the pair of socket cup set screws to pass
through the carpeting, once the Stealthbox® is in place.

(2) 3/8" Split Lock Washer

(2) 3/8" - 16 x 2-1/4" Socket Cup Set Screw
(2) 3" x 3" Wax Squares
Drill the mounting holes in the proper location. Apply
silicone to the four supplied Phillip head screws before
securing the amplifier.
(2) 3/8" x 1-1/4” Fender Washer
Run speaker wire from the amplifier location to the speaker
terminals. Attach the speaker wire to the terminals.

Thread in the pair of socket cup set screws into the back of
the Stealthbox®, leaving 1-1/2" of the threads exposed.
JL Audio recommends using a high quality amplifier such as the JL Audio 250/1.
The diagram below shows the recommended crossover, infrasonic filter and equalizer settings for the 250/1 when
being used to power your Stealthbox®.

STEALTHBOX WALL
From inside the truck, position the Stealthbox® into the
mounting location. From the outside of the truck(between
the cab wall and the bed wall) place the supplied fender
washer, flat washer, lock washer and then nut onto each
exposed socket cup set screw. Use a long 3/8" open end
wrench or ratcheting box end to secure the mounting
hardware. If you have big hands and arms, time to get that
smaller friend of yours to help out.
The JL Audio 250/1 is a very versatile audio component. Please consult the owner’s manual for even more
detailed information about installing and tuning this amplifier.
