Make sure that you have a universal serial bus interface connection (USB port) on  
your computer and that your computer is running MicrosoftWindows98 or  
later or Macintosh OS 9 or later.

Set up your scanner in one of two ways: either install the software first or connect  
the scanner first. It is recommended that you install the software first, especially on  
a Macintosh computer.  
If you experience difficulty installing your scanner, see installation  
problems - hp scanjet 4500c/5500c series on page 13.

Close all open programs on your computer.  
Locate the HP Photo & Imaging software CD-ROM that is appropriate for  
your language and operating system and insert it into your computer.  
For a Microsoft Windows computer: Follow the instructions on the screen.  
Or, if the installation program does not start automatically:

a. On the Start menu, click Run.  
b. Type: x:setup.exe (where x is the letter of the CD-ROM drive).  
For a Macintosh computer: Double-click the Installation Read Me file on the  
CD-ROM and follow the instructions.

If the instructions prompt you to shut down your computer, do so.  
Connect the USB cable between the USB port on the scanner and the USB  
port on the computer.

Connect the power cable between the scanner and a surge protector or a  
grounded wall outlet that is easy to reach. This turns on the scanner.  
If necessary, turn your computer on again.  
A “00” in the LCD on the front panel of the scanner indicates that  
a USB connection error has occurred. Check that the USB cable is  
securely connected between the scanner and the computer.

Make sure that your computer is on and that the operating system is  
running.  
Connect the USB cable between the USB port on the scanner and the USB  
port on the computer.  
Connect the power cable between the scanner and a surge protector or a  
grounded wall outlet that is easy to reach. This turns on the scanner.

Follow the prompts in the New Hardware Found wizard.  
Insert the HP Photo & Imaging software CD-ROM and click Next. If the  
wizard prompts you for a drive letter, select your CD-ROM drive.

In the HP Scanjet installation program, follow the instructions.  
After installation is complete, another HP installation program starts. You  
can install additional software, register your scanner, and find additional  
help. To see if your scanner came with additional software, click Install  
software and follow the prompts.

If your scanner has an automatic document feeder (ADF), it allows you to scan  
multiple pages.

If your scanner has a lid attached to it, remove the lid by raising it and then  
pulling it straight up.

If your scanner has a transparent materials adapter (TMA), it allows you to scan  
35 mm slides or negatives.

On the back of the scanner, find the round TMA port:

On the HP Scanjet 4500c and 5550c series scanners, the TMA port is  
the second port from the left.

On the HP Scanjet 4570c and 5500c series scanners, the TMA port is  
the second port from the right.

Holding the TMA cable by its free end, align the connector so the arrow is  
on the top side.

This section describes the buttons on the front panel of the scanner and available  
accessories.

Scans the item into the HP Photo & Imaging software.

Scans the item and sends it to a website.  
SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC  
Scans the document and saves it to a CD or to your hard disk (HP Scanjet  
4500c/5550c only).

Scans the item to the Memories Disc Creator software, where you can  
create a photo show on a CD, along with background music and titles  
(HP Scanjet 4570c/5500c only).  
E-MAIL button  
Scans the item using settings optimized for e-mail and sends the scan to  
your e-mail software (if the software is supported).  
COPY button  
Scans the item and sends it to a printer to make copies.  
NUMBER OF COPIES button  
Selects the number of copies to be printed with the COPY button.  
COLOR/BLACK & WHITE copy Determines whether items will be scanned in color or in black and white

when you press the COPY button.  
POWER SAVE button  
Turns off the scanner lamp, the LEDs, and the LCD.  
CANCEL button  
Cancels a scan while the scanner is scanning, or cancels a series of  
scans from the ADF.  
2-digit LCD  
Displays the number of copies that will print with the COPY button. Also  
displays error codes that identify scanner problems.  
HP Scanjet automatic document Allows you to scan multiple pages automatically (HP Scanjet 4500c/  
feeder (ADF)

HP Scanjet automatic photo  
feeder (APF)  
Allows you to scan multiple photos automatically (HP Scanjet 4570c/

You can start your scanner projects in one of two ways: from the scanner buttons  
or from the HP Photo & Imaging software. The scanner buttons offer shortcuts to  
some of the software functions. Start from the software when you want more  
options and control or if your scanner model does not have all the buttons.  
Macintosh users: For information about how to scan from the  
HP Macintosh software or change the button settings for your  
scanner, see the online help in the Apple Help Center.  
The procedures in this section use the default button settings. For more information  
about changing the settings for one or more buttons, see change button  
settings in the HP Photo & Imaging software Help.

You can scan pictures into the HP Photo & Imaging software by pressing the SCAN  
button (

On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Hewlett-Packard, point to  
your scanner, and click hp photo & imaging director.

In the Director, click Scan Document or Scan Picture.  
post a picture on a website  
If you have an Internet connection, you can easily post your pictures to the Web  
from your scanner. After you set up a website by using HP Share-to-Web, you can  
give people an address where they can view your pictures.

The HP Scanjet 4500c and 5550c scanners have a SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC  
button ( ).  
You can scan a document and send it directly to a compact disc (CD), if you have  
a read/write CD drive that supports direct writing to the CD. Alternatively, you  
can save the scan on your hard disk; by default the scan is saved in the My  
Documents folder if you have a Windows computer, in Documents if you have a  
Macintosh computer.

Press the SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC button on the scanner and follow the  
prompts on the computer screen. The software scans the document using  
default settings optimized for document storage.  
When you use the SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC button, your scan is saved as an  
Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) file. To save your scan with a different  
format, use the HP Photo & Imaging software. Open the Director and click SCAN  
DOCUMENT.

To change the location where a file is saved when you press the SAVE DOCUMENT  
TO DISC button, change the button’s settings. You can also change the original  
size, resolution, and file name. For more information, see change button  
settings in the HP Photo and Imaging software Help.  
If your scanner does not have this button, you can scan documents and save them  
on CD from the software. For more information, see the HP Photo & Imaging  
software Help.  
save multiple  
pages  
You can save multiple pages to a single file without pressing the SAVE DOCUMENT  
TO DISC button for each page.  
After you scan a page by using the SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC button, a message  
appears asking: Scan another page into the current document? Put a new page  
on the scanner glass, and then click Yes in the dialog box. When you have  
finished scanning multiple pages, click No in the dialog box to complete the  
procedure.  
To turn off the prompt for additional pages, change the settings for the SAVE  
DOCUMENT TO DISC button. For more information, see change button  
settings in the HP Photo and Imaging software Help.  
An automatic document feeder (ADF) allows you to scan  
multiple-page items quickly and easily. For more information  
about the ADF, see ADF - hp scanjet4500c/5550c series  
in the HP Photo & Imaging software Help.  
create a photo show and save it on CD  
The HP Scanjet 4570c and 5500c scanners have a MEMORIES DISC CREATOR  
button ( ).  
If you have a read/write CD drive and writable CDs, you can use your scanner  
to create personalized photo shows with music and titles. Then you can watch the  
photo show on your television using a compatible DVD player. You can also make  
photo reprints from the CD.

Press the MEMORIES DISC CREATOR button on the scanner and follow the

e-mail a scan  
If your scanner has an E-MAIL button (  
), you can e-mail a scan directly from  
your scanner. You must also have an Internet connection and a supported e-mail  
program.  
The HP Photo & Imaging software supports many popular e-mail  
programs. If your e-mail program is supported, it opens  
automatically when you try to e-mail a scan. If you are using an  
unsupported e-mail program, the scanner cannot scan items  
directly into an e-mail message. In this case, save the scan to a  
file, and then attach it to your e-mail message.

Press the E-MAIL button on the scanner. The scanner scans the item using  
default settings optimized for e-mail.

Follow the instructions on your computer screen. If your e-mail program is  
supported, a screen appears where you can address and compose a

to select original type for e-mail  
If the software prompts you for an original type, you have two choices: Picture or  
Document. The scanner uses optimized scan settings for your item depending on  
your choice. Use the following guidelines to determine the best original type for  
your needs.

If the software does not prompt you for an original type, you can change the  
setting for the E-MAIL button so that it regularly scans using settings optimized for  
either documents or pictures. For more information, see change button

If you want to print a color copy, select the color setting by pressing the  
COLOR/BLACK & WHITE button on the front panel of the scanner. The light  
adjacent to the current selection is lit. Use color copy only if you are printing  
to a color printer and want a color copy.

Select the number of copies by pressing the NUMBER OF COPIES button on  
the front panel of the scanner. The liquid crystal display (LCD) shows the  
number of copies selected. The default setting is one copy.  
Press the COPY button on the scanner. The software scans the item using  
default settings optimized for printing, and then the number of copies  
specified in the scanner LCD window are printed on the default printer.  
If you want to reduce or enlarge the copies, lighten or darken them, or  
change printer settings, click Cancel in the copy progress dialog box. You  
can then make changes to settings in the HP Copying software.  
You can also make copies from the HP Copying software. For more information,  
see the HP Photo & Imaging software Help.  
cancel a scan in progress  
The CANCEL button (  
) cancels a scan in progress. When you press the  
CANCEL button during a scan, the lamp returns to its starting position.  
use the power save button  
Use the POWER SAVE button (  
) to turn off the lamp when you are not using  
the scanner. When you press the POWER SAVE button, the scanner lamp, the small  
indicator lights, and the LCD turn off, and the scanner lamp returns to its starting  
position.  
To use the scanner again, press any button on the front panel of the scanner or  
start a scan from the computer. After a short warm-up cycle, the scan begins.  
enable instant scanning  
If the instant scanning feature is available on your scanner, you can start scanning  
right away, without waiting for the lamp to warm up. Your scanner has this feature  
if the Instant lamp warm-up option appears in the Quality vs. Speed tab, which  
you access by using the following procedure.

Open the Director and, on the Settings menu, click Scan Preferences.  
Click the Quality vs. Speed tab.  
–
To eliminate the lamp warm-up time and enable instant scanning, select  
the Instant lamp warm-up check box.  
–
To reduce power consumption, clear the Instant lamp warm-up check  
box.  
If instant scanning is enabled, you can scan right away even after  
you have pressed the POWER SAVE button.  
Instant scanning does not function while you are using the TMA.  
scan from the ADF  
The HP Scanjet 4500c and 5550c scanners support the use of an automatic  
document feeder (ADF), which allows you to scan multiple-page items quickly and  
easily.

scan from the APF  
The HP Scanjet 4570c and 5500c scanners support the use of an automatic photo  
feeder (APF), which allows you to scan multiple photos quickly and easily.  
To prevent damage to your photos:  
• do not use the APF to scan photos that are fragile, damaged,  
or irreplaceable  
• do not use the APF to scan the same photo more than 5  
times

scan slides or negatives  
You can use the optional HP Scanjet transparent materials adapter (TMA) to scan  
35 mm slides or negatives. To do so, use the HP Scanning software rather than  
the scanning buttons.

This chapter contains solutions to common installation problems. For solutions to  
usage problems or maintenance issues, such as cleaning the scanner glass, see  
the troubleshooting section in the electronic Help.  
scanner is not working  
•
First, check your computer:  
–
Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements that  
are listed on the scanner box.  
–
If you do not have enough hard-disk space, remove unnecessary files or  
install the software on a different disk drive.  
•
•
On a Microsoft® Windows® computer, if you receive a message such as  
“Destination Directory Is Invalid” or “Program Folder Is Invalid” during  
installation, do one of the following:  
–
Type a valid destination folder name. The destination folder cannot  
contain the following characters: /, \, :, ?, *, <, >, “, or |.  
–
Find a valid folder using the Browse button.  
Check the cables:  
–
–
–
–
–
Check that the power cable is securely connected between the scanner  
and a live electrical outlet or surge protector.  
If the power cable is connected to a surge protector, make sure the  
surge protector is plugged into an outlet and turned on.  
Make sure you use the USB cable that was included with the scanner.  
Another USB cable might not be compatible with the scanner.  
Check that the USB cable is securely connected between the scanner  
and the computer.  
Disconnect the power cable from the scanner and turn off the computer.  
After 30 seconds, reconnect the power cable to the scanner and then  
turn on the computer, in that order.  
–
On a Macintosh computer, use the Apple System Profiler to make sure  
the scanner is connected to the computer correctly.

Test the scanner hardware:  
a. Disconnect the USB cable and the power cable from the scanner. Make  
sure the power cable is still connected to the power source.  
b. Press the E-MAIL (  
) and COPY (  
) buttons at the same time,  
while reconnecting the power cable to the scanner. (Hold the scanner  
buttons for less than 5 seconds.) The scanner lamp should turn on.  
c. Press the SCAN (  
) button. (Hold the button for less than 5 seconds.)  
The carriage in the scanner should move forward and backward.  
d. To end the test, disconnect the power cable.  
If the scanner lamp does not turn on or the carriage does not move, a  
problem exists with the scanner hardware. Contact HP Customer Support.

If you receive a message that the scanner initialization failed, or if the  
HP Scanning software stops working after it has been functioning properly,  
try the following procedures.  
a. Close the HP Scanning software if it is open.  
b. Make sure that the cables connecting the computer and the HP scanner  
are securely fastened.  
c. Turn the scanner off by disconnecting the power cable. Turn the scanner  
back on by reconnecting the power cable.  
d. Turn the computer off and then on again.  
•

A “00” in the LCD on the front pane l of the scanner indicates that a USB  
connection error has occurred. Check that the USB cable is securely  
connected between the scanner and the computer.  
If the scanner still fails to initialize, run the Repair utility (Windows  
computers only) as described in the next topic, scanner still does not work  
properly.

If the scanner stops scanning or the bu ttons no longer work as they should,  
a software conflict might exist on your computer. You might need to reinstall  
the HP Photo & Imaging software. To do this, run the Repair utility  
(Windows computers only).  
a. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel (in Windows  
XP, click Start, and then click Control Panel).  
b. Click Add/Remove Programs, and then select the HP Photo & Imaging  
software.  
c. Click Add/Remove (or Change, depending on your version of  
Windows).  
d. Follow the instructions on the computer screen, and then click Repair.

If this does not work, install the scanner on another computer. This will help  
determine if the problem is related to the first computer or to the scanner.  
If the scanner still does not work, contact HP Customer Support.

Installation du logiciel et connexion du scanner  
Vous pouvez installer votre scanner de deux manières différentes : soit en  
commençant par installer le logiciel, soit en commençant par connecter le  
scanner. Nous vous recommandons de commencer par installer le logiciel, surtout  
sur Macintosh.  
Si vous rencontrez des problèmes lors de l'installation de votre  
scanner, reportez-vous à la section Problèmes d'installation -  
HP Scanjet série 4500c/5500c à la page 15.

Fermez toutes les applications actives.  
Choisissez le CD-ROM du logiciel Photo et Imagerie HP correspondant à  
votre langue et à votre système d'exploitation, puis insérez-le dans le lecteur  
de CD-ROM de votre ordinateur.  
Pour les ordinateurs fonctionnant sous Windows : suivez les instructions qui  
apparaissent à l'écran. Si le programme ne se lance pas automatiquement :

b. Tapez : x:setup.exe (x représente la lettre désignant votre lecteur de

programme d'installation du CD-ROM et suivez les instructions.

Eteignez votre ordinateur à l'invite.  
Reliez le port USB de votre scanner au port USB de votre ordinateur à l'aide  
du câble USB.

Branchez le câble d'alimentation sur le scanner pour le relier à un  
parasurtenseur ou à une prise murale reliée à la terre et facile d'accès. Le  
scanner se met en marche.

Pour démarrer vos projets de numérisation, procédez de l'une des 2 façons  
suivantes : utilisez les boutons de votre scanner ou le logiciel Photo et Imagerie  
HP. Les boutons du scanner constituent des raccourcis pour certaines fonctions du  
logiciel. Utilisez le logiciel si vous souhaitez disposer d'options et de commandes  
supplémentaires ou si votre modèle de scanner ne comporte pas tous les boutons.  
Utilisateurs de Macintosh : pour savoir comment numériser à partir  
du logiciel HP pour Macintosh ou modifier les paramètres des  
boutons de votre scanner, sélectionnez Centre d'aide dans le  
menu Aide du Finder.  
Les procédures décrites dans cette section font référence aux paramètres par  
défaut des boutons. Pour plus d'informations sur la modification de ces

Numérisation à partir du logiciel  
Vous pouvez également prévisualiser ou modifier les documents et les images à  
partir du logiciel.

votre scanner et cliquez sur Directeur photo et imagerie HP.

Si vous possédez une connexion Internet, vous pouvez facilement afficher vos

site Internet à l'aide de HP Share-to-Web, vous pouvez donner à des personnes  
une adresse à laquelle elles pourront consulter vos photos.

Vous pouvez numériser un document et le consigner directement sur un CD, si

SUR LE DISQUE), votre numérisation est enregistrée au format Adobe® Portable  
Document Format (PDF). Pour enregistrer votre numérisation sous un autre format,  
utilisez le logiciel Photo et Imagerie HP. Ouvrez le Directeur et cliquez sur  
NUMÉRISER DOCUMENT.  
Pour modifier l'emplacement où le fichier sera enregistré lorsque vous appuyez  
sur le bouton SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC (ENREGISTRER LE DOCUMENT SUR LE DISQUE),  
modifiez les paramètres du bouton. Vous pouvez également changer la taille de

Si votre scanner ne possède pas ce bouton, vous pouvez numériser des

Enregistrement  
de plusieurs  
pages  
Vous pouvez enregistrer plusieurs pages dans un fichier unique, sans avoir à  
appuyer sur le bouton SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC (ENREGISTRER LE DOCUMENT SUR LE  
DISQUE) pour chaque page.  
Après la numérisation d'une page à l'aide du bouton SAVE DOCUMENT TO DISC  
(ENREGISTRER LE DOCUMENT SUR LE DISQUE), un message demande : Numériser une  
autre page de votre document en cours ? Placez une nouvelle page sur la vitre  
du scanner, puis cliquez sur Oui dans la boîte de dialogue. Lorsque vous avez  
terminé la numérisation de plusieurs pages, cliquez sur Non dans la boîte de  
dialogue pour terminer la procédure.  
Pour désactiver l'apparition du message vous invitant à numériser des pages

scanner. Vous devez également disposer d'une connexion Internet et d'un  
programme de messagerie électronique compatible.  
Le logiciel Photo et Imagerie HP prend en charge la plupart des  
logiciels de messagerie courants. Si votre programme de  
messagerie est compatible, il est lancé automatiquement lorsque  
vous essayez d'envoyer une image numérisée par e-mail. Si vous  
utilisez un programme de messagerie non compatible, le scanner  
ne peut pas insérer d'élément numérisé directement dans un  
message électronique. Dans ce cas, enregistrez l'image numérisée  
dans un fichier et joignez ce fichier à votre message e-mail.

pour imprimer directement les documents numérisés depuis le scanner.

Si vous voulez imprimer une copie en couleurs, sélectionnez le paramètre  
couleurs en appuyant sur le bouton COLOR/BLACK & WHITE (COULEUR/NOIR  
ET BLANC) situé sur le panneau avant du scanner. Le voyant en face de la  
sélection en cours est allumé. N'utilisez la copie couleur que si vous  
imprimez sur une imprimante couleurs et que vous voulez une copie  
couleur.

Sélectionnez le nombre de copies en appuyant sur le bouton NUMBER OF  
COPIES (NOMBRE DE COPIES) situé sur le panneau avant du scanner. L'écran à  
cristaux liquides indique le nombre de copies sélectionné. Le paramètre par  
défaut est une copie.  
Appuyez sur le bouton COPIER du scanner. Le logiciel numérise l'élément  
selon les paramètres par défaut optimisés pour l'impression et le nombre de  
copies spécifié sur l'écran est imprimé par l'imprimante par défaut.

Pour réduire, agrandir, éclaircir ou assombrir les copies ou pour modifier les  
paramètres d'impression, cliquez sur Annuler dans la boîte de dialogue.  
Vous pouvez modifier les paramètres d'impression dans le logiciel de  
copie HP.  
Vous pouvez également effectuer des copies à partir du logiciel de copie HP. Pour

Annulation d'une numérisation en cours  
Le bouton ANNULER (  
) annule une numérisation en cours. Lorsque vous  
appuyez sur le bouton ANNULER au cours d'une numérisation, la lampe revient en  
position de départ.  
Utilisation du bouton d'économie d'énergie  
Utilisez le bouton ECONOMIE D'ÉNERGIE (  
) pour désactiver la lampe lorsque  
vous n'utilisez pas le scanner. Lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton ECONOMIE  
D'ÉNERGIE, la lampe du scanner, le petit voyant lumineux et l'écran sont éteints et  
la lampe du scanner revient en position de départ.  
Pour utiliser à nouveau le scanner, appuyez sur n'importe quel bouton du  
panneau avant du scanner et lancez la numérisation à partir de votre ordinateur.  
Après une courte période de chauffe, la numérisation démarre.  
Activation de la numérisation instantanée  
Si la fonction de numérisation instantanée est disponible sur votre scanner, vous  
pouvez démarrer la numérisation immédiatement, sans attendre que la lampe ne  
chauffe. Votre scanner possède cette fonction si l'option Instant lamp warm-up  
(Temps de chauffe de la lampe instantané) apparaît dans l'onglet Qualité et  
vitesse, auquel vous accédez comme suit.

Ouvrez le Directeur. Dans le menu Paramètres, cliquez sur Préférences de  
numérisation.

Cliquez sur l'onglet Qualité et vitesse.

Pour éliminer le temps de chauffe de la lampe et activer la numérisation  
instantanée, cochez la case Instant lamp warm-up (Temps de chauffe  
de la lampe instantané).

Pour réduire la consommation d'énergie, désactivez la case à cocher  
Instant lamp warm-up (Temps de chauffe de la lampe instantané).  
Si la numérisation instantanée est activée, vous pouvez numériser  
immédiatement, même si vous avez appuyé sur le bouton  
ECONOMIE D'ÉNERGIE.  
La numérisation instantanée n'est pas accessible si vous utilisez  
l'adaptateur de supports transparents (TMA).

Ce chapitre recense les solutions aux problèmes courants d'installation. Pour les

Le scanner ne fonctionne pas  
•
Dans un premier temps, procédez aux vérifications suivantes sur votre  
ordinateur :  
–
Assurez-vous que la configuration de votre ordinateur correspond bien à  
la configuration requise figurant sur l'emballage du scanner.  
–
S'il n'y a pas assez d'espace libre sur votre disque dur, supprimez des  
fichiers superflus ou installez le logiciel sur une autre unité de disque.  
•
Si, sur un ordinateur fonctionnant sous Microsoft® Windows®, vous  
recevez un message du type "Répertoire de destination non valide" ou  
"Dossier programme non valide" au cours de l'installation, essayez l'une  
des deux procédures suivantes :  
–
Tapez un nom de répertoire de destination valide. Le nom du répertoire  
de destination ne peut pas contenir les caractères suivants : /, \, :, ?, *,  
<, >, “, ou |.  
–
Cherchez un répertoire valide en utilisant le bouton Parcourir.  
•
Vérifiez les câbles :  
–

Vérifiez que le câble d'alimentation est bien connecté au scanner et à  
une prise électrique ou à un parasurtenseur en état de marche.  
Si le câble d'alimentation est connecté à un parasurtenseur, veillez à ce  
que celui-ci soit bien relié à une prise électrique et à ce qu'il soit allumé.  
Veillez à utiliser le câble USB qui vous a été fourni avec le scanner. Il se  
peut qu'un autre câble USB ne soit pas compatible avec le scanner.  
Vérifiez que le câble USB est bien connecté au scanner et à  
l'ordinateur.  
Déconnectez le câble d'alimentation du scanner et éteignez  
l'ordinateur. Au bout de 30 secondes, rebranchez le câble

d'alimentation sur le scanner et rallumez votre ordinateur (en respectant

Sur Macintosh, utilisez Apple System Profiler pour vous assurer que le  
scanner est correctement connecté à votre ordinateur.

Testez le matériel du scanner :  
a. Débranchez le câble USB et le câble d'alimentation du scanner.  
Assurez-vous que le câble d'alimentation est toujours relié à une source  
d'alimentation.  
b. Appuyez simultanément sur les boutons MESSAGERIE ÉLECTRONIQUE  
(
) et COPIER (  
), tout en rebranchant le câble d'alimentation au  
scanner (maintenez les boutons du scanner enfoncés pendant moins de  
5 secondes). Le voyant du scanner doit s'allumer.  
c. Appuyez sur le bouton NUMÉRISER (  
). Maintenez-le enfoncé  
pendant moins de 5 secondes. Le chariot du scanner doit avancer puis  
reculer.  
d. Pour finir, débranchez le câble d'alimentation.  
Si la lampe du scanner ne s'allume pas ou si le chariot ne bouge pas, le  
scanner a effectivement un problème. Contactez l'Assistance clientèle HP.  
Echec de l'initialisation du scanner

Si un message vous informe que l'initialisation du scanner a échoué ou si le  
logiciel de numérisation HP s'arrête après avoir fonctionné correctement,  
procédez comme suit :  
a. Si le logiciel de numérisation HP est ouvert, fermez-le.  
b. Assurez-vous que les câbles connectés à l'ordinateur et au scanner HP  
sont correctement branchés.  
c. Mettez le scanner hors tension en débranchant le câble d'alimentation.  
Ensuite, remettez-le sous tension en rebranchant le câble d'alimentation.  
d. Arrêtez, puis rallumez votre ordinateur.

Si l'écran du panneau avant du scanner affiche "00", cela indique un  
problème de connexion USB. Vérifiez que le câble USB est bien connecté  
au scanner et à l'ordinateur.  
Si l'initialisation du scanner échoue à nouveau, exécutez l'utilitaire de  
réparation (sous Windows uniquement) comme indiqué dans la section

correctement, il se peut qu'il y ait un conflit logiciel sur votre ordinateur.  
Vous allez peut-être devoir réinstaller le logiciel Photo et Imagerie HP. Pour  
ce faire, exécutez l'utilitaire de réparation (sous Windows uniquement).  
a. Cliquez sur Démarrer, sélectionnez Paramètres, puis cliquez sur  
Panneau de configuration (sous Windows XP, cliquez sur Démarrer, puis  
sur Panneau de configuration).  
b. Cliquez sur Ajout/Suppression de programmes, puis sélectionnez le  
logiciel Photo et Imagerie HP.  
c. Cliquez sur Ajouter/Supprimer (ou sur Modifier, en fonction de la  
version de Windows que vous utilisez).  
d. Suivez les instructions qui s'affichent à l'écran, puis cliquez sur Réparer.

Etendez votre garantie standard à trois ans grâce au HP SupportPack. L'extension  
de garantie prend effet le jour de l'achat du produit et doit être souscrite dans les

référant aux résultats des programmes d'auto-test système exécutés par le client  
lors de son premier appel à l'Assistance clientèle HP. Si, à la suite de votre appel,  
l'assistance technique décide que votre produit doit être remplacé, HP vous livrera  
un produit de remplacement le jour ouvré suivant, sans frais supplémentaires.  
Cette extension de garantie vous permet de maximiser la durée de  
fonctionnement ainsi que l'efficacité de votre produit et vous offre le confort de  
l'enlèvement et de la restitution à domicile, frais d'emballage et de transport  
compris.
