If the integrity of the machine is in doubt, do not use it. Call   your dealer for qualified assistance.   The dryer can be installed in any room with a hard floor. Do not install it on carpeting with heavy pile.   There must be a ventilation outlet to the exterior for the exhaust duct.   WARNING!   This appliance should never be exhausted into a chimney, wall, ceiling, or concealed space of a   building. Only a metal ventilation grill should be used.   To install the tumble dryer, follow the steps below:   1. Remove the outer wrapping and the polystyrene base.   2. Move the machine into place.   3. Adjust the levelling legs by lifting the front of the dryer slightly and adjusting the feet to the correct height.   Be careful not to screw the feet down too far and do not use a screwdriver.   NOTE: A badly leveled machine may result in damage to the bearings and premature wear, so we   recommend that you use a spirit level.   4. Connect the exhaust duct to the ventilation outlet (see below).   CONNECTING THE EXHAUST DUCT   You will need a UL-CSA-approved, 4-inch ridged metal exhaust duct.   NOTE: Excessive duct and too many bends can impede drying performance. We recommend that you cut   off any excess exhaust duct and run the duct with as few bends as possible. Make any necessary   bends as gentle as possible.   To connect the exhaust duct, follow the steps below:   1. Connect the exhaust duct to the coupling nut supplied with the dryer. (See illustration below.)   2. Turn the coupling (together with the duct) counterclockwise in the air discharge outlet on the back of the   dryer.   3. Connect the other end of the exhaust duct to a ventilation exhaust fitting or to a discharge duct in the wall   and secure with a clamp.   4. It is best if the duct does not sag.   5. After you push the dryer into place, make sure there aren’t any kinks in the duct.   NOTE: Maximum duct length of 15 feet, using two 90° elbows is allowed. Subtract 4 feet of duct for each   additional elbow.   5 Download from Www.Somanuals.com. All Manuals Search And Download.   ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS   The power supply cord must be grounded. Make sure the lint filter is free of lint (see page 12).   2. Before placing the items in the dryer, sort the laundry by type of fabric and care label instructions (see   page 9).   3. Make sure nothing is in the garment pockets that could damage the clothes or the machine.   4. Close zippers and hooks to prevent snagging.   5. Load the laundry into the dryer.   6. Close the door securely.   7. Set the program knob to the desired program (see page 11).   8. Set the Normal/Delicate temperature button to the desired setting (see page 11).   9. Press the Start button. (The indicator lamp should come on.)   Drying times will vary due to the amount of laundry in the machine, moisture content, type of fabric, air   temperature and humidity. The length of the vent duct can also affect drying times (see page 5).   PREPARING THE LAUNDRY   For best drying results, clothes should be sorted properly. Most importantly, you should follow the care label   instructions (see page 9). Below are some suggestions on how to best sort your laundry for drying:   n Permanent press items should be dried together. For the most wrinkle-free results when drying permanent   press items, you should fill the machine only half full. These items also should be removed promptly   from the dryer and hung up or folded right away.   n Dry heavy fabrics together and lightweight fabrics together.   n Dry fabrics that shed lint (chenille, terry cloth, etc.) separately from fabrics that collect lint (synthetics,   velveteen, corduroy, etc.).   n Separate non-colorfast fabrics from light-colored items.   n If the care label says "Wash Separately," the fabric is likely to lose color (excess dye) for the first few   washings. To minimize the possibility of the dye transferring to white or lighter colored items, dry new   colored garments with items of similar color or alone. Bright reds and oranges on cottons are the dyes   most likely to transfer colors.   NOTE: Refer to page 3 for a list of specific materials that should never be put in a tumble dryer.   IMPORTANT:   Metal items (coins, nails, etc.) left in pockets, sharp buckles or similar items could damage the   drum. Remove any items of this kind before loading the dryer.   FABRIC SOFTENER AND DRYER SHEETS   We recommend using a liquid fabric softener in the washer’s rinse cycle. We do not recommend using   fabric softener sheets in the dryer. Over time, the chemicals on these sheets can build up inside the lint filter   and clog the holes that circulate the air.   8 Download from Www.Somanuals.com. Care label   instructions and warnings should be followed for the best cleaning results.   The table below defines the typical symbols used on fabric care labels. (Note: Some manufacturers may use   slightly different symbols.)   CARE LABEL SYMBOLS   9 Download from Www.Somanuals.com. Simply press   the On/Off button, select the program temperature (delicate or normal), and turn the Program knob to the   desired setting.   ON   OFF   DELICATE   NORMAL   ON/OFF BUTTON   This button turns the power to the machine on and off. The power must be on before you can start a   program.   DELICATE/NORMAL BUTTON   This button lets you select between a normal and low drying temperature.   NOTE: Always refer to the care label on the garment to determine if it can be tumble dried. (See page 9.)   Normal: The Normal temperature setting is for sturdy fabrics, such as cotton, linen, and denim. If this   button is not pressed in, the temperature setting is Normal.   Delicate: The Delicate temperature setting is for synthetics, such as cotton/polyester blend, rayon, acetate,   washable silk or nylon. If this button is pressed in, the temperature setting is Delicate.   PROGRAM KNOB   To select a program, turn the program knob to the 12:00 position (where   12:00 position   the line on the knob aligns with the dot at the top of the dial, as illustrated).   Wait for a short tone then turn the Program knob to the desired program.   After a brief pause, another tone will sound and the program will begin.   The programs on the right of the dial are for cottons and linens. The   programs on the bottom are for synthetics. You can also set a timed dry   program for 60, 40 or 20 minutes (on top left of dial).   NOTE: The dryer will not start unless the door is closed securely and there   are no items caught between the door and the rubber gasket.   INDICATOR LIGHT AND END-OF-PROGRAM TONE   When you press the On/Off button, the indicator light below it comes on and stays on during the program.   At the end of the program, the light flashes and an end-of-program tone sounds to indicate the program is   complete. This continues until the door is opened or the program knob is turned to the 12:00 position.   COOL-DOWN   Every program ends with a cool-down cycle that is designed to reduce wrinkling. This means the clothes   will be cool when you remove them from the dryer, rather than scorching hot. After the cool-down cycle   ends, the light flashes and an end-of-program tone sounds to indicate the program is complete .   ANTI-CREASE   If the knob is not turned to the 12:00 position or the door is not opened at the end of a program, the Anti-   crease function begins. This means that the drum rotates the clothes once every minute to prevent creases   from setting in. The Anti-crease and end-of-program tone continue until you turn the program knob to the   12:00 position or open the door to remove the laundry.   10   Download from Www.Somanuals.com. The dryer   will stop and the heating element will shut off. To resume the program, shut the door and turn the Program   knob to the 12:00 position. When you hear a short tone you can then turn the Program knob to the desired   program.   CHANGING A PROGRAM   If you decide to change the program setting after you have started the machine, simply turn the Program   knob to the 12:00 position. Wait for the tone then turn the Program knob to the new program.   RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS   AND TEMPERATURE SETTINGS   The table below is intended to help you determine which program is best for each type of load.   Cottons/Linens   Temp   Setting   Normal   Normal   Load   Size   Full   Fabric Type   Heavy cottons and denims   Cottons and linens w/out elastic and/or decorative   trim, white and colorfast items   Program   Extra Dry   Normal   Full   Synthetics   Temp   Setting   Delicate   Delicate   Load   Size   Half   Fabric Type   Program   Normal   Iron Dry   White and colorfast perma press   White and colorfast items that require ironing   Half   Polyester/acrylic blends, rayon, acetate   Washable silk and nylon   Damp Dry   Damp Dry   Delicate   Delicate   Half   Third   Timed   Temp   Setting   Normal   Normal   Load   Size   Full   Fabric Type   Program   60'   Heavy cottons and denims   Cottons and linens w/out elastic and/or decorative   trim, white and colorfast items   40'   Full   White and colorfast perma press   White and colorfast items that require ironing   40'   20'   Delicate   Delicate   Half   Half   Polyester/acrylic blends, rayon, acetate   Washable silk and nylon   20'   20'   Delicate   Delicate   Half   Third   11   Download from Www.Somanuals.com. To best ensure a long life, however, certain precautions are   recommended (see page 3).   CLEANING THE LINT FILTER   You should clean the lint from the lint filter before every load. To do this, follow the instructions below:   1. Remove the filter from its holder by pulling it upwards.   2. Open the filter and gently run your hand across it to   collect the lint. If you prefer, you can clean it with a   soft brush.   3. Replace the filter into its holder.   NOTE: If you use dryer sheets, the filter should be   washed periodically with a mild soap and water   to remove any small particles that may have col-   lected in the holes.   CLEANING THE CONTROL PANEL   WARNING!   Before performing the operations described below, make sure that the power is off and the unit   is unplugged.   To clean the control panel, use only a warm, damp cloth. To prevent penetration of liquid into the door lock   and electrical components, never spray water or cleaning solvents on the control panel.   Also, never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on the outer surfaces because they will scratch the   finish and could remove the writing on the control panel. Some paper towels may also scratch the finish.   CLEANING THE EXHAUST DUCT   About once a year you should remove the exhaust duct and clean it. At this time, you should also clean the   exhaust outlet on the machine and the ventilation duct.   Periodically, you should check the dryer exhaust outside to be sure the air flow is strong and nothing is   blocking the vent.   12   Download from Www.Somanuals.com. This will save both time and money.   The machine wont start.   n Make sure the door is closed securely.   n Make sure you pressed the START button.   n Make sure the indicator light is on.   n Check that you set the program or time correctly.   n Check that the electric plug is securely in the socket.   n Check the house breaker/fuses.   The machine takes too long to dry my laundry.   n Check that the lint filter is clean.   n If you use dryer sheets, you may need to wash the lint filter with warm water and a soft brush to clean any   blocked holes.   n Be careful not to overload the dryer because the warm air needs sufficient room to circulate properly and   the clothes need room to tumble freely.   n The laundry should only be damp when it comes out of the washer. If it seems too wet, try using a faster   or longer spin cycle.   n Make sure the outside vent exhaust is not blocked.   My clothes are coming out wrinkled.   n You should remove the clothes as soon as the dryer signals the end of the cycle.   n Dry heavy fabrics together and light fabrics together.   n Dry only permanent press items together.   n Dry in smaller loads.   n Use slower spin speeds in the washer.   n Use fabric softener in the washer’s rinse program.   n You may be using the wrong wash temperature. Try using a lower wash temperature, especially for   permanent press and delicate items.   The motor is running but the drum isnt turning.   n This usually means a belt is broken. Call a servicer.   If you think you have resolved the problem, try starting the machine again. If the problem persists, call for   technical assistance (see page 15).   BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE   Before calling for service or contacting AM Appliance Group regarding a warranty issue, be prepared to   explain:   1) Model number of the machine   2) Serial number of the machine (located on the inner door facing)   3) Specific problem   13   Download from Www.Somanuals.com.
