INSTALLATION
1 - HOW TO SET THE BATTERY
The CLA-30/40 amplifier needs to be supplied with a 9V PP3 battery (not
provided).To insert the battery into the amplifier simply follow instructions
below:
- Open the battery compartment located on the base by pressing the little
plastic lock.
- Insert the 9V battery with the correct polarity in the battery compartment.
- Replace the battery cover.
- The amplifier is now ready to be connected to the phone.
2 - HOW TO CONNECT THE CLA-30/40 TO THE PHONE
To connect your phone to the CLA-30/40 amplifier simply follow instructions
below:
- Unplug the handset from your telephone base socket.
- Connect the little lead supplied with the CLA-30/40 to the base socket and to
the CLA-30/40 socket (1) located on the rear side.
- Connect your handset with its curly cord the CLA-30/40 socket (2) located
on the front side.
-After a few seconds the battery LED will light.
IMPORTANT:
If you don’t have the dial tone, you will have to use the twelve position switch
located on the bottom.This switch is used to match the handset connection to
the most phones on the market. If the microphone or the earpiece does not
work properly simply follow instructions below:
- Replace the handset on the cradle and hook-on again.
-Adjust the switch position to get the dial tone (earpiece and microphone),
CLA-30/40 is now ready to use.

SETTINGS
Note: The CLA-30/40 cannot be used with telephones which have a keypad on
thehandset.
3 - VOLUME CONTROL
You can adjust the volume control level by using the “VOLUME” control slide
switch located on the top. Volume can be adjusted from the same levelyou have
with your phone up to 30 dB or more.
4 - TONE CONTROL
You can adjust the tone by using the 5 position “TONE” switch located on the
top.The tone can be adjusted by 5 dB step with regard of the 0dB middle point
for the bass and treble. Possible settings are -10dB, -5dB, 0dB for the bass and
0dB, -5dB, -10dB for the treble, this can be adjusted at the min and max volume
level.
5 - BOOST SWITCH (CLA-40 ONLY)
If you wish you can increase the receiving up to 10 dB more by pressing and
holding the Boost switch button. During this operation the microphone is muted
to avoid feedback problems. To speak release the button so that the people can
hear you.
6 - BATTERY INDICATOR
Each time you use your phone with the amplifier, the battery LED indicator will
light to show that the battery is full. If the LED does not light, the battery must be
changed.
IMPORTANT:Always disconnect CLA-30/40 from the phone before replacing
the battery.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
IF THE AMPLIFIER DOES NOT WORK
- Make sure all connections are correctly plugged into the sockets (phone line
cord, amplifier connections).
- Make sure battery is correctly inserted with the good polarity and is fully
charged.
However, if you still have some problems when using your amplifier follow
instructions below:
- Disconnect the amplifier from the telephone.
- Connect the handset to the telephone.
- If the problem ceases, the amplifier is faulty.
- If you still have the problem when you disconnect the amplifier, the problem
comes from your telephone or your telephone line socket.
In this case you will have to inform your telephone company about the problem
or take your telephone to a repair centre.
IMPORTANT: The CLA-30/40 can not be used with telephones which include
a keypad on the handset. The CLA-30/40 can only be used with standard
phones without any amplification or tone adjustment.

INSTALLATION
1 - MISE EN PLACE DE LA PILE
L’amplificateur CLA-30/40 est alimenté par une pile de 9Volts PP3 (non
livrée).
Pour insérer la pile, suivez simplement les instructions suivantes:
- Ouvrez le compartiment de pile situé en-dessous de l’amplificateur en appli-
quant une légère pression sur le petit ergot en plastique du couvercle.
- Insérez la pile 9V en respectant la polarité dans le compartiment de batterie.
- Replacez le couvercle, l’amplificateur est maintenant prêt à être connecté au
téléphone.
2 - CONNECTER L’AMPLIFICATEUR CLA-30/40 AU TELEPHONE
Pour connecter votre téléphone à l’amplificateur CLA-30/40, suivez simple-
ment les instructions suivantes:
- Déconnectez le combiné de la base de votre téléphone.
- Connectez le petit cordon livré avec votre CLA-30/40 à la base de votre
téléphone et à la fiche (1) située sur la face arrière de votre CLA-30/40.
- Connectez le combiné de votre téléphone avec son cordon sur la fiche (2) du
CLA-30/40 située sur la face avant de votre CLA-30/40.
- Le voyant lumineux LED pile doit s’allumer pendant quelques secondes.
IMPORTANT:
Si vous n’entendez pas la tonalité, vous allez devoir utiliser le commutateur
rotatif situé en dessous de l’amplificateur. Ce commutateur permet d’adapter
le type de connection à la plupart des téléphones. Si le micro ou l’écouteur ne
fonctionne pas, suivez simplement les instructions suivantes:
- Replacez le combiné sur la base et décrochez à nouveau.
- Séléctionnez une position sur le commutateur pour laquelle vous obtenez la
meilleure amplification , le CLA-30/40 est maintenant prêt à être utilisé.

REGLAGES
REMARQUE: Le CLA-30/40 ne peut pas être utilisé avec un téléphone com-
portant les touches de numérotation sur le combiné.
3 - CONTROLE DU VOLUME
Vous pouvez régler le volume en utilisant le bouton à glissière “VOLUME” situé
sur le dessus de l’amplificateur. Le volume peut être réglé de 0 à 30 dBpar
rapport au volume de réception de votre téléphone sans amplificateur.
4 - CONTROLE DE LA TONALITE
Vous pouvez régler la tonalité de réception en utilisant l’interrupteur 5 positions
“TONE” situé sur le dessus de l’amplificateur. La tonalité peut être ajustée par
pas de 5 dB par rapport au point milieu 0dB dans les graves et les aigus. Les
réglages possibles sont -10 dB,-5 dB, 0 dB pour les graves et 0dB,-5dB,-10dB
pour les aigus, ces réglages peuvent être effectués en volume min et max.
5 - BOUTON D’AMPLIFICATION (CLA-40 SEULEMENT)
Vous pouvez augmenter la réception de 10 dB supplémentaires en maintenant
appuyé le bouton d’amplification. Lors de l’appui sur ce bouton, le microphone
est coupé afin d’éviter des problèmes de sifflement. Pour parler, relâchez
simplement le bouton pour que votre correspondant vous entende.
5 - INDICATEUR DE PILE
A chaque utilisation de votre téléphone, l’indicateur de pile s’allumera pour
indiquerquel’amplifonctionnecorrectementetquelapileestchargée. SilaLED
ne fonctionne pas vous devez remplacer la pile.
IMPORTANT: Débranchez toujours votre amplificateur CLA-30/40 avant de
remplacer la pile.

PROBLEMES DE FONCTIONNEMENT
- Vérifiez toutes les connections de l’amplificateur et du téléphone (cordon de
ligne, connection combiné...).
- Vérifiez que la batterie est correctement insérée et que la polarité est correcte
ou que la pile n’est pas vide.
Cependant, si le problème persiste lorsque vous utilisez l’amplificateur, suivez
les instructions suivantes:
- Déconnectez l’amplificateur de votre téléphone.
- Reconnectez le combiné de votre téléphone sur sa base.
- Si le problème disparaît, votre amplificateur a besoin d’être réparé.
- Si le problème persiste lorsque vous déconnectez l’amplificateur, le problème
doit provenir de votre téléphone ou du réseau téléphonique.
Dans ce cas contactez votre fournisseur d’accès téléphonique pour exposer le
problème ou faire réparer votre téléphone dans un centre agréé.
IMPORTANT: Le CLA-30/40 ne peut pas être utilisé avec un téléphone
comportant les touches de numérotation sur le combiné. LeCLA-30/40nepeut
êtreutiliséqu’avecdestéléphonesstandardsnepossédantpasd’amplificationet
de réglagede tonalité.
