Blaupunkt product. We hope you enjoy
using this new piece of equipment.
Before using the device for the first time,
please read these instructions carefully.
The Blaupunkt editors are constantly
working on making the operating in-
structions clearer and easier to under-
stand. However, if you still have any
questions on how to operate the unit
please contact your dealer or the tele-
phone hotline for your country.You will
find the hotline telephone numbers print-
ed at the back of this booklet.
Accessories
Only use accessories approved by Blau-
punkt.
Remote control
The optional RC 08 or RC 10 remote
controls allow you to safely and conven-
iently access the most important func-
tions of your car radio from your steer-
ing wheel.
Amplifier
All Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used.
CD changer
Road safety
You can connect the following Blaupunkt
CD changers:
CDC A 06, CDC A 08, CDC A 072 and
IDC A 09.
You can also connect the CDC A 05 and
CDC A 071 CD changers by using an
adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.7 607 889
093).
Road safety has absolute prior-
ity. Only operate your car radio if the
road and traffic conditions allow you
to do so.Familiarise yourself with the
unit before setting off on your jour-
ney.
You should always be able to hear
police, fire and ambulance sirens
from afar. For this reason, set the
volume of whatever you are listen-
ing to to a reasonable level.
Installation
If you want to install your car radio your-
self, please read the installation and
connection instructions that follow these
operating instructions.

REMOVABLE CONTROL PANEL

Removable control panel
The control panel locking mechanism
opens.
Theft protection
As a way of protecting your car radio
against theft, the unit is equipped with
a removable control panel (release pan-
el). Without this control panel, the car
radio is worthless to a thief.
Protect you car radio against theft by
taking the control panel with you every
time you leave your vehicle.Do not leave
the control panel in your vehicle - not
even in a hiding place.
G First, pull the control panel straight
off the unit and then out towards
the left.
G The unit switches off after the con-
trol panel is removed.
G All the current settings are saved.
G Any CD already inserted in the unit
remains there.
The control panel has been designed
to be easy to use.
Attaching the control panel
G Slide the control panel from left to
right into the unit’s panel locking
mechanism.
Note:
G Never drop the control panel.
G Never expose the control panel to
direct sunlight or other heat sourc-
es.
G Press the left-hand edge of the
control panel into the unit until it
clicks into place.
G Store the control panel in the sup-
plied case.
G Avoid making direct skin contact
with the control panel’s contacts. If
necessary, clean the contacts with
a lint-free cloth soaked in cleaning
spirits.
Removing the control panel
Note:
G When attaching the control panel,
make sure you do not press the
display.

If the unit was still switched on when
you removed the control panel, the unit
will automatically switch on with the last
settings activated (i.e. radio, CD, CD
changer, or AUX) when the panel is re-
placed.

SWITCHING ON/OFF
Switching on by inserting a CD
Switching on/off
If the unit is switched off and there is no
CD inserted in the drive,
There are various ways of switching the
unit on/off:
G Gently insert the CD with the print-
ed side uppermost into the drive
until you feel some resistance.
Switching on/off using the vehicle
ignition
If the unit is correctly connected to the
vehicle’s ignition and it was not switched
off using button >, it will switch on/off
simultaneously with the ignition.
The CD will be drawn automatically into
the drive.
You must not hinder or assist the drive
as it draws in the CD.
You can also switch the unit on even if
the ignition is off:
The unit switches on. CD playback be-
gins.
G To do so, press button >.
Note:
G To protect the vehicle battery, the
unit will switch off automatically af-
ter one hour if the ignition is off.
Switching on/off using the
removable control panel
G Remove the control panel.
The unit switches off.
G Attach the control panel again.
The unit switches on. The last settings
(radio, CD, CD changer or AUX) will be
reactivated.

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
Adjusting the volume
The system volume can be adjusted in
steps from 0 (off) to 66 (maximum).
Instantaneous volume reduction
(mute)
This feature allows you to instantane-
ously reduce (mute) the volume to a lev-
el preset by you.
To increase the system volume,
G press the button =.
To decrease the system volume,
G press the button =.
G Briefly press button >.
“MUTE” appears in the display.
Setting the mute level

You can set the default volume at which
the unit switches on.
You can set the unit’s mute volume lev-
el.

To help you adjust the volume more
easily, the volume will be increased /
decreased as you make your changes.
G press the MENU button : twice.
If you change the setting to“0”, the pow-
er-on volume will be the same as the
volume level that was set before the unit
was last switched off.
Telephone audio / navigation
audio
If your car radio is connected to a mo-
bile telephone or a navigation system,
the unit’s volume will be muted as soon
as you “pick up” the telephone or as
soon as a navigation announcement is
made.The caller or voice output will then
be heard over the car radio loudspeak-
ers. In order for this to work, the mobile
telephone or navigation system must be
connected to the car radio in the man-
ner described in the installation instruc-
tions.
Note:
G To protect your hearing, the power-
on volume is limited to a value of
“38”. If the volume level was higher
when the unit was switched off, the
volume will be reset to “38” when
the unit is switched on again.
When you have finished making your
changes,
G press the MENU button : twice.
You can find out from your Blaupunkt
dealer which navigation systems can be
used with your car radio.

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
If a traffic information message is re-
ceived during a telephone call or whilst
a navigation announcement is being
made, the traffic message will only be
played after the call or voice output is
finished.
Confirmation beep
For some functions you will hear a con-
firmation beep if you keep a button
pressed for longer than two seconds.
For instance, after storing a radio sta-
tion to a station button you will hear a
confirmation beep. The beep can be
switched on/off.
If you are already listening to a traffic
announcement and a telephone call
arrives or the navigation system wish-
es to make a voice output, the traffic
announcement will first be heard. Once
the traffic message is finished, you can
listen to the call or the voice output.
G Press the MENU button :.
G Keep pressing the or button
9 until “BEEP” appears in the dis-
play.
You can set the volume level at which
telephone calls and the navigation voice
output will first be heard.
G Use the and buttons 9 to
switch between the options.
“OFF”means beep off, “ON”means the
beep is switched on.

9 until “TEL VOL” appears in the

This unit is equipped with an RDS radio
receiver.Many of the receivable FM sta-
tions transmit a signal that not only car-
ries the programme but also additional
information such as the station name
and programme type (PTY).

Browsing through broadcasting
networks (only FM)
If a radio station provides several pro-
grammes, you have the option of brows-
ing through its so-called “broadcasting
network”.

Switching to preset stations
When using this feature, you will only
be able to switch to stations that you
have received once already. To do so,
use either the Travelstore function or
allow the automatic seek tuning feature
to run once through the entire frequen-
cy range.
G Select the memory level on which
the station was stored.
G Press the preset station button of
the station you want to listen to.
Scanning receivable stations
(SCAN)
You can briefly play all the receivable
stations.You can set the scanning time
to between 5 and 30 seconds in the
menu.

You can automatically store the five sta-
tions with the strongest reception in the
region (only for FM). The stations are
stored in the FMT memory.
Note:
G Stations that were previously
stored in this memory are deleted
in the process.
G Keep the FMT or BAND (TS) but-
ton 2 pressed for longer than two
seconds.

sponds to the selected programme
type, you will hear a beep and “NO
PTY” appears briefly in the display.
The station that was listened to last

G Set the required scantime using
the and buttons 9.
G If the tuned radio station or another
station on the broadcasting net-
work broadcasts the required pro-
gramme type at a later point in
time, the radio automatically
switches from the currently tuned
station or from CD mode / CD
changer mode to the station whose
programme type matches the one
you selected.

Note:
G The set scantime also applies to
scanning in CD and CD changer
mode.
Programme type (PTY)
Switching PTY on/off
Besides transmitting the station name,
some FM stations also provide informa-
tion on the type of programme that they
are broadcasting.
G Keep the TRAF (PTY) button <
pressed until “PTY” appears in or
disappears from the display.
The programme type appears briefly in
the display when you switch PTY on.
For example, the programme types can
be:
CULTURE
SPORT
ROCK
TRAVEL
NEWS POP
MUSIC
JAZZ

Using the PTY function, you can direct-
ly select stations of a particular pro-
gramme type.
G If you want to select another pro-
gramme type, you can do so by

start seek tuning, the radio will switch
from the current station to a station of
the selected programme type.
