Plug In Your TuneBase
Follow the steps in this section to set up your TuneBase Direct with Hands-Free (the
TuneBase). These steps coincide with those in the Quick Install Guide but provide more detail.
2. Test the tightness of fit in the power
outlet. The TuneBase should give some
resistance when you try to rotate it inside
the power outlet. It should not rotate or
move on its own.
1. Insert your TuneBase into the power
outlet in your car.
If the TuneBase is too loose or too
tight in the power outlet, see the
troubleshooting section for instructions
on adjusting
the fit.
Warning: Do not rotate the TuneBase in the
power outlet. If you experience resistance,
unplug the TuneBase and reinsert it in
the desired position. Failure to do so may
damage the cigarette lighter adapter or
power outlet.

Dock Your iPod after Initial setup
After you have adjusted the TuneBase to fit your iPod, you can insert and remove your iPod
without further adjustment.
1. Seat your iPod on the dock connector.

TuneBase to your iPod.
Your iPod will automatically pause when you
remove it from the TuneBase or when power
is unavailable from the power outlet.
Your TuneBase will automatically turn on
when your iPod is connected and power is
available. It turns off when you remove the
iPod or power becomes unavailable.
You only need to adjust the height of the

The 3.5mm audio-out jack on the TuneBase lets you connect to the aux-in jack on your car
stereo. You can also use the jack to connect to your car’s cassette tape player using a tape
adapter (sold separately).
1. Make sure your car stereo and TuneBase

Adjust your car stereo’s volume to get the
right level of sound. If the volume remains
too faint, increase the volume on your iPod
to boost the signal.
Play Music
Use the controls on your iPod to navigate to
your playlists. Then, use the Multifunction
button to play and pause music.
note: Make sure you select the correct
source on your car stereo.
1. On your iPod, select the track you want
to play.

Select “aux” when the cable is
connected
to the aux-in on your stereo.
2. Adjust the volume on your iPod to
get adequate signal strength without
distortion.

If you hear an echo when talking hands-free,
do the following:
1. Position your iPhone so that its screen
is facing toward you and away from your
car’s speakers.
2. Set the ringer volume on your iPhone to
maximum and turn down the volume on
your car stereo until you no longer hear
the echo.

If you have a Bluetooth headset paired with
your iPhone, you can receive calls on your
headset. Press the button on your headset
to receive an incoming call. Your music will
resume when you hang up.

You can quickly solve most problems with your TuneBase by following the advice in this
section.
You experience an echo when talking
•
Make sure your iPod is fully seated in
hands-free.

power. Some vehicles do not provide
power to the power outlet unless the
vehicle is in ignition mode or the engine
is running.

your vehicle’s controls.
Turn down your stereo volume until you

Use the flexible gooseneck and the
articulation behind the docking cradle to
position your TuneBase away from your
vehicle’s controls. Position the gooseneck in
as upright a position as possible in relation
to the power adapter.
Your iPod or iPhone is not charging.

connection to your car’s power outlet.

Your TuneBase rotates out of position
around the center of the power outlet.
Solution 3
The fit ring may be too large for some cars’
power adapters. Use scissors to carefully
cut as many prongs as you need. Try to fit
your TuneBase into the power outlet after
each cut. When cutting multiple prongs, cut
prongs on opposing sides.

Be sure to solidly attach the cigarette lighter
adapter of the TuneBase to the power outlet.
Test the stability by pushing it sideways
before driving.

In some vehicles, the power outlet is wider
than the cigarette lighter adapter of the
TuneBase. You may notice a wiggle in your
TuneBase when you push it. In that case,
slide the fit ring around the cigarette lighter
adapter of the TuneBase. Then, insert the
cigarette lighter adapter into the power
outlet, making sure that all four prongs of the
fit ring securely fit in the power outlet. If the
fit is too tight, you can cut off one or more of
the prongs on the fit ring and try the fit again
(see Solution 3).

Your TuneBase connects firmly to the
power outlet, but it still rotates.
The rubber friction washer remained in
the power outlet when you removed
your TuneBase.
Solution
Solution
Check to see if the power outlet rotates in its
socket. If so, please consult your vehicle’s
manufacturer.
This is rare, but if it occurs you can remove
the rubber washer from the power outlet and
place it back on the cigarette lighter adapter.
Warning: Disconnect the vehicle’s
battery. any attempt to remove the
washer without disconnecting the
battery may result in physical harm to
you or damage to the vehicle.
You cannot insert the cigarette lighter
adapter into the power outlet.
Solution
The cigarette lighter adapter’s rubber friction
washer may need to be centered. Follow the
steps below to center the friction washer.
Use pliers to carefully remove the friction
washer from the power outlet. Place the
friction washer back on the cigarette lighter
adapter. Then, reconnect the vehicle’s
battery.
1. Use pliers to loosen the nut on the front
of the cigarette lighter adapter slightly. It
is not necessary to remove the nut.
2. Move the friction washer back into
centered position.
3. Tighten the nut firmly.

Your TuneBase requires full concentration
and both hands to install. Do not attempt
to connect your TuneBase while driving.
Make sure your TuneBase fits securely and
firmly into the power outlet before driving.
After installation, make sure your TuneBase
does not freely rotate in the power outlet.
Do not insert any objects other than the
cigarette lighter adapter into the power
outlet without disconnecting the battery
of the vehicle first. Failure to observe
this safety warning can result in injury or
property damage.

Suivez la procédure décrite dans cette section pour configurer votre TuneBase Direct avec kit

allume-cigare. Le TuneBase devrait
offrir un peu de résistance lorsque vous
tentez de le faire pivoter dans la prise
allume-cigare. Il ne devrait pas pivoter

1. Insérez le TuneBase dans l'allume-cigare

coupez les saillies opposées.

de faire bouger l'unité de gauche à droite,

Dans certains véhicules, la prise est plus

du TuneBase. Vous risquez de remarquer
un petit mouvement du TuneBase lorsque

allume-cigare du TuneBase. Ensuite, insérez
l'adaptateur dans la prise allume-cigare, en
vous assurant que les quatre saillies de la

Gerät nach links oder rechts zu stoßen,

die Manschette für den Zigarettenanzünder-
Adapter von TuneBase. Führen Sie den
Zigarettenanzünder-Adapter dann so in die
Zigarettenanzünderbuchse ein, dass alle
vier Nasen sicher in der Strombuchse sitzen.
Wenn er zu fest in der Buchse sitzt, können
Sie eine oder mehrere Nasen abschneiden
und erneut versuchen, ob der Adapter in die
Buchse passt (s. Lösung 3).

Der TuneBase sitzt fest in der

immer noch hin und her.
Die gummispannscheibe hat sich beim
entfernen des TuneBase gelöst und ist in
der strombuchse steckengeblieben.

Lösung
Stellen Sie fest, ob sich die Strombuchse
selbst in der Einbaubuchse dreht. Falls
dies der Fall ist, wenden Sie sich an den
Autohersteller.
Dies kommt selten vor, aber
wenn es passiert, können Sie die

Zigarettenanzünderbuchse entfernen und
wieder am Zigarettenanzünder-Adapter
anbringen.

Zigarettenanzünderbuchse. Bringen
Sie die Spannscheibe wieder am
Zigarettenanzünder-Adapter an. Klemmen
Sie die Batterie wieder an.

die Mutter an der Vorderseite des
Zigarettenanzünder-Adapters. Sie
braucht nicht ganz entfernt zu werden.

De TuneBase aansluiten
Ga als volgt te werk bij de installatie van uw TuneBase Direct met handsfree belfunctie
(de TuneBase). Deze stappen komen overeen met de stappen die in de beknopte
installatiehandleiding worden vermeld, maar zijn wat gedetailleerder omschreven.
2. Controleer of de TuneBase stevig op de
aanstekeraansluiting is aangesloten. U
zou enige weerstand moeten voelen als
u de stekker in de aanstekeraansluiting
probeert te draaien. De TuneBase mag
niet uit zichzelf draaien of bewegen.
1. Sluit uw TuneBase aan op de
aanstekeraansluiting in uw auto.
Als de stekker van de TuneBase te los
of te strak in de aanstekeraansluiting
zit, raden wij u aan het hoofdstuk
"Problemen oplossen" te raadplegen.
Hier wordt uitgelegd hoe u dit probleem
kunt verhelpen.
Waarschuwing: Draai de stekker
van de TuneBase niet rond in de
aanstekeraansluiting. Als u bij het aansluiten
tegenstand voelt, moet u de stekker uit
de aanstekeraansluiting trekken en in de
gewenste stand terugplaatsen. Doet u dit
niet dan kunt u de aanstekeraansluiting
beschadigen.

Uw iPod op de dock-connector aansluiten
U kunt de iPod in het etui laten zitten als u hem op de dock-connector aansluit.
2. Als u een iPod nano op de TuneBase wilt
aansluiten, dient u het pasblokje op de
houder te bevestigen. Het pasblokje is

Zodra u de hoogte van de houder eenmaal hebt ingesteld voor uw specifieke iPod, hoeft u de
TuneBase niet opnieuw uit te schuiven voor het plaatsen en verwijderen van uw iPod.

de TuneBase met uw iPod.
Uw iPod zal automatisch pauzeren als u
hem uit de TuneBase haalt of als er geen
spanning meer wordt geleverd door de
aanstekeraansluiting van uw auto.
De TuneBase wordt automatisch
ingeschakeld wanneer uw iPod is
aangesloten en er spanning op de dock-
connector staat. Hij wordt automatisch
uitgeschakeld als u de iPod verwijdert of
als er geen spanning meer op de dock-
connector staat.
U hoeft de hoogte van de TuneBase slechts
aan te passen als u een andere iPod of een
ander etui gebruikt.

De TuneBase op uw autoradio aansluiten
Via de 3,5mm-audio-uitgang van de TuneBase kunt u een verbinding tot stand te brengen met
de aux-ingang van uw autoradio. U kunt op deze 3,5mm-aansluiting ook de 3,5mm-stekker
van een cassetteadapter (niet meegeleverd) aansluiten voor het maken van een verbinding
met de cassettespeler in uw auto.

Pas indien gewenst het volume aan via
uw autoradio. Als het geluid te zwak blijft,
gebruik dan de volumeknoppen op uw iPod
om het signaal te versterken.
Muziek afspelen
Gebruik de bedieningsknoppen van uw iPod
om uw afspeellijsten door te lopen. Gebruik
de multifunctionele knop om muziek af te
spelen of te pauzeren.

Als u tijdens het handsfree bellen een echo
hoort, doet u het volgende:
Gebruik de USB-poort aan de onderkant
van de TuneBase voor het opladen van
USB-apparaten als MP3-spelers en GPS-
apparaten.
1. Zorg ervoor dat het scherm van uw
iPhone naar u toe gericht is en niet naar
de luidsprekers in uw auto.
2. Zet het beltoonvolume van uw iPhone in
de maximale stand en stel het volume
van uw autoradio naar beneden bij totdat
u geen last meer hebt van de echo.
Inkomende telefoonoproepen
beantwoorden via uw
Bluetooth® headset
Als u een Bluetooth headset hebt gekoppeld
aan uw iPhone, kunt u via uw headset
oproepen beantwoorden. Druk op de knop
van uw headset om een inkomende oproep
te beantwoorden. Zodra het gesprek is
beëindigd, hoort u weer muziek via de
luidsprekers van uw auto.

Eventuele problemen met de TuneBase kunt u meestal snel oplossen door de tips in dit
hoofdstuk op te volgen.
U heeft last van een echo als u handsfree
telefoneert.

Zet het beltoonvolume van uw iPhone in
de maximale stand.
Door de TuneBase en de iPod zijn de
bedieningsknoppen van de auto niet
goed bereikbaar.

Stel het volume van uw autoradio naar
beneden bij totdat u geen last meer hebt
van de echo.
Oplossing
Gebruik de flexibele zwanenhals en het
verbindingsstuk achter de houder om de
TuneBase zo te plaatsen dat hij niet in de
weg zit en u de bedieningsknoppen van de
auto goed kunt gebruiken. Zorg ervoor dat
de zwanenhals zo recht mogelijk naar boven
wijst in verhouding tot de voedingsadapter.
Uw iPod of iPhone wordt niet opgeladen.

De TuneBase zakt in de
Oplossing 3
aanstekeraansluiting opzij.
Voor sommige auto's geldt dat de
pasring mogelijk te groot is voor de
aanstekeraansluiting. De uitsteeksels die
in de weg zitten knipt u eenvoudigweg
met een schaar weg. Probeer steeds na
het afknippen van een van de uitsteeksels
of de stekker van de TuneBase goed
past, alvorens een volgend uitsteeksel te
verwijderen. Als u meerdere uitsteeksels
wegknipt, zorg er dan voor dat het tweede
uitsteeksel dat u verwijdert zich tegenover
het eerste weggeknipte uitsteeksel bevindt.
Oplossing 1
Controleer of de aanstekeradapter van de
TuneBase stevig op de aanstekeraansluiting
is aangesloten. Test de stabiliteit door de
stekker op en neer te bewegen voordat u
gaat rijden.
Oplossing 2
In sommige auto's is de diameter van de
aanstekeraansluiting groter dan die van de
stekker van de TuneBase. Daardoor kan
de TuneBase heen en weer bewegen als
u er tegenaan duwt. Schuif de pasring in
dit geval om de stekker van de TuneBase.
Sluit de stekker vervolgens aan op de
aanstekeraansluiting en zorg ervoor dat
de vier uitsteeksels van de pasring goed
passen in de aanstekeraansluiting. Als
het geheel te strak zit, kunt u een of meer
uitsteeksels van de pasring afknippen en het
nogmaals proberen (zie Oplossing 3).

De TuneBase maakt stevig contact met
de aanstekeraansluiting maar kan nog
steeds te makkelijk draaien.
De rubberen ring is bij het lostrekken
van de stekker van de TuneBase in de
aanstekeradapter van uw auto achter
gebleven.
Oplossing
Oplossing
Controleer of de contactbus in de
aansluiting draait. Als dit het geval is, neem
dan contact op met uw autodealer.
Dit komt zelden voor, maar als het
gebeurt, kunt u de rubberen ring uit de
aanstekeraansluiting halen en op de stekker
van de TuneBase terugzetten.
De stekker van de TuneBase past niet in
de aanstekeraansluiting.
Waarschuwing: ontkoppel de
autoaccu. Probeer nooit de rubber
ring te verwijderen zonder de accu te
ontkoppelen. Doet u dat niet, dan kunt
u verwondingen oplopen of de auto
beschadigen.
Oplossing
Het is mogelijk dat u de rubberen ring van
de stekker van de TuneBase moet centreren.
Ga hierbij als volgt te werk:
Gebruik een knijptang en verwijder
voorzichtig het rubber ringetje uit de
aanstekeraansluiting van de auto. Plaats
de rubber ring terug op de stekker. Sluit
vervolgens de accu weer aan.
1. Maak gebruik van een knijptang om het
moertje aan het uiteinde van de stekker
van de TuneBase wat losser te maken.
Het is niet nodig de moer te verwijderen.
2. Plaats de rubberen ring weer in de juiste
positie.
3. Draai het moertje weer stevig vast.

Bij de installatie van de TuneBase heeft u
uw volledige aandacht en beide handen
nodig. Probeer nooit de TuneBase tijdens
het rijden aan te sluiten. Controleer
voordat u wegrijdt of de stekker van de
TuneBase goed in de aanstekeraansluiting
past. De stekker van de TuneBase mag
na installatie niet vrij ronddraaien in de
aanstekeraansluiting.

Hoe wordt service verleend?
Belkin International, Inc. behoudt zich het
recht voor het defecte Belkin-product te
onderzoeken. De kosten voor verzending
van het Belkin product naar Belkin
Om voor service voor uw Belkin product
in aanmerking te komen gaat u als volgt
te werk:
International, Inc. komen volledig voor
rekening van de koper. Als Belkin naar eigen
bevinding tot de conclusie komt dat het
onpraktisch is de beschadigde apparatuur
naar Belkin te verzenden, kan Belkin
naar eigen goeddunken een deskundige
reparatie-inrichting aanwijzen en deze
opdragen de betreffende apparatuur te
inspecteren en de reparatiekosten ervan
te begroten. De eventuele verzendkosten
van het product naar de reparatie-inrichting
en van de terugzending naar de koper en
van de kostenbegroting komen geheel voor
rekening van de koper. Het beschadigde
product moet voor onderzoek beschikbaar
blijven totdat de claim is afgehandeld.
Belkin International, Inc. behoudt zich bij
de vereffening van claims het recht voor
tot in-de-plaatstreding bij alle geldige
verzekeringspolissen waarover de koper van
het product beschikt.

L'iPod interrompe automaticamente
la riproduzione, se viene rimosso dal

Se durante una chiamata in vivavoce si
dovesse sentire un leggero eco, fare quanto
segue:
Utilizzare la porta USB sulla parte inferiore
del TuneBase per ricaricare dispositivi USB,
quali lettori MP3 e dispositivi GPS.
1. Posizionare l'iPhone in modo tale che lo
schermo sia rivolto verso di sé e lontano
dagli altroparlanti dell'auto.
2. Impostare al massimo il volume della
suoneria sull'iPod ed abbassare il volume
sullo stereo dell'auto, sino a quando non
si sentirà più l'eco.

Il TuneBase si muove all'interno della
presa di alimentazione.
Soluzione 3
L'anello di fissaggio potrebbe essere troppo
largo per gli adattatori di alimentazione
di alcune auto. Si possono tagliare le
sporgenze necessarie con le forbici, facendo
attenzione. Provare ad inserire il TuneBase
nella presa dopo ciascun taglio. Quando si
tagliano diverse sporgenze, tagliare quelle
situate su lati opposti.
Soluzione 1
Assicurarsi di inserire saldamente
l'adattatore per accendisigari del TuneBase
nella presa di alimentazione. Verificarne la
stabilità spingendolo lateralmente prima di
iniziare a guidare.
Soluzione 2
CUT
In alcune vetture, il diametro
dell'accendisigari è più grande di quello
dell'adattatore del TuneBase. Si noterà
quindi che il TuneBase si muove quando
si cerca di inserirlo. In tale caso, inserire
l'anello di fissaggio attorno all'adattatore
per accendisigari del TuneBase. In seguito,
inserire l'adattatore per accendisigari nella
presa di alimentazione, assicurandosi che
tutte e quattro le sporgenze aderiscano
correttamente alla presa di alimentazione.
Se l'adattatore è troppo aderente, tagliare
una o più sporgenze dell'anello di fissaggio
e provare ad inserirlo di nuovo (vedere
