Instructions for Canon Chip-Resetters
Instructions for Canon CLI-8 SERIES and PGI-5 SERIES Chip-Resetters
The main purpose of the Chip is to monitor ink levels and to provide an on-screen message, telling
you that the cartridge is empty. Your CHIP-RESETTER allows you to restore this function and, once
you have refilled your cartridge, resume full use.
1. Slide the black (PGI-5) cartridge, Chip facing the CHIP-RESETTER , into the guide. (picture

2. Push the cartridge down to ensure that the Chip touches the contact plate. The short
flash signals the contact has been made. The following continuous LED-light tells you that the
programming has been successfully completed. The cartridge can be removed.
3. To program the colour (CLI-8) cartridges, slide the provided adapter into place and repeat the
process, as described for the black (PGI-5) cartridge. (picture 2)
