b. Double-clickyourCDorDVDdrive.

Toinstalltheadapter:
1. InserttheCDintoyourCDorDVDdrive.

Toconfiguretheadapter’swirelessconnectionsettings,useawirelessnetwork
configuration utility. If you have installed such a utility on your computer,
or if your computer came with one already installed, refer to that utility’s
documentationforinstructionsonuse.Otherwise,followtheinstructionsin
theappropriatesectionbelowtouseyouroperatingsystem’sbuilt-inutility:
New Wireless Connection
To connect to a different wireless network:
1. ClicktheWireless Network Configurationutilityicon.Alistofavailable
wirelessnetworksappears.

6. Ifyouwanttosaveyoursettings,selectSave this network.
Whenyourmousepointerhoversovertheicon,thestatusinformationof
yourwirelessconnectionappears.
7. ClickClose.
TheSetNetwork Locationscreenmayappear.Thisscreenhelpsapplythe
correctsettingsforyourtypeoflocation.
a. Click Home, Work, or Public location, then click Close on the
resultingscreen.

4. IfyournetworkusesWiredEquivalentPrivacy(WEP)wirelesssecurity,
entertheWEPKeyintheNetwork keyandConfirm networkkeyfields.If
yournetworkusesWi-FiProtectedAccess(WPA/WPA2)wirelesssecurity,
enterthepassphraseintheNetwork keyandConfirm networkkeyfields.
ClickConnect.
New Wireless Connection
To connect to a new wireless network:
1. Right-clicktheWindows XP Wireless Zero Configurationiconinyour
computer’ssystemtray,thenclickView Available Wireless Networks.A
windowdisplaystheavailablewirelessnetworks.
2. Selectthenetworkthatyouwant,thenclickConnect.
Note
WindowsXPWirelessZeroConfigurationdoesnotsupporttheuse
ofaWEPpassphrase.EntertheexactWEPkeyusedbyyourwireless
routeroraccesspoint.
Note
IfyournetworkisusingWPA2security,makesurethatyouhave
installedtheUpdateforWindowsXP(KB893357),availableat
Ifthenetworkuseswirelesssecurity,gotoStep4.Otherwise,continue
toStep3.
3. Click Connect Anyway to connect the adapter to your unsecured
network,thengotoStep5.

Your computer does not recognize the adapter.
• Makesurethattheadapterisproperlyinsertedintoyourcomputer’sUSB
slot.
• ConnecttheadapterintoadifferentUSBport.
The adapter does not work properly.
Removetheadapter,andthenreinsertitintothecomputer’sUSBslot.
Your computer cannot communicate with the other computers on your
wireless network.
1. Makesurethatthecomputersarepoweredon.
2. MakesurethattheadapterisconfiguredwiththesameWirelessNetwork
Name(alsocalledtheSSIDorServiceSetIdentifier)andwirelesssecurity
settingsastheothercomputersonyourwirelessnetwork.
