STEP 4 Activate the answering system  
The ANS ON/OFF must be on (the button light will  
be on) in order for the machine to answer calls and  
record messages. If the button light is off then calls  
will not be answered.  
To turn on/off the answering system, press  
ANS ON/OFF to choose between on and off.  
Use the volume control button on the telephone base  
to adjust the volume at anytime during the setup  
procedure.

The telephone base settings (ringer melody,  
ringer volume, change remote access code,  
clear voicemail and reset to default settings)  
can be changed using the handset, please see  
the user’s manual for complete instructions.  
STEP 1 Install the telephone base and  
chargers  
• Plug the connector into the power jack at the bottom  
of the telephone base and chargers, then plug the  
power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled  
by a wall switch.  
• Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the  
telephone line jack at the bottom of the telephone  
base. Then plug the other end of the cord into the  
modular wall telephone outlet.

STEP 3 Make, receive and end calls  
Make a call  
IMPORTANT!  
Press  
/FLASH or  
to ensure there is a dial  
If your product is not working properly:  
tone, then dial the telephone number.  
• Refer to the Troubleshooting section of the user’s  
manual.  
STEP 5 Outgoing announcement  
An outgoing announcement is the message callers hear  
when calls are answered by the answering system.  
The telephone is preset with an announcement that  
answers calls with “Hello, please leave a message after  
the tone.” You can use this default announcement, or  
replace it with your own.

To record your own announcement:  
To predial (view number before dialing):  
Press ANNC while in idle mode, and the system says  
“Announcement, press play or press announcement  
again to record a new announcement.”  
• Dial the number (press MUTE/REMOVE to make  
corrections, or press and hold REDIAL/PAUSE to  
insert a dialing pause).  
NOTE: Use only the power adapters (or equivalent)  
supplied with your VTech telephone.  
• Press ANNC again and the system announces  
Record after the tone, press STOP when you are  
done.”  
• After the tone, speak towards the microphone at the  
bottom front of the telephone base from about nine  
inches away.

/FLASH or  
to use the speakerphone.  
Receive a call  
STEP 2 Install and charge the battery  
• Press  
call.  
/FLASH or  
to answer an incoming  
• Remove battery compartment cover by pressing on  
the indentation and sliding downwards.  
• Press /PLAY/STOP when finished.  
The answering system will automatically playback the  
newly recorded announcement. Press /PLAY/STOP  
to stop the playback at any time.  
• Align the two holes in the plug with the socket pins  
according to the color-coded label in the battery  
compartment, then snap the plug into place.  
• Place the battery into the compartment.  
• Position the battery compartment cover and slide it  
upwards until it clicks into place.  
Put the handset in the telephone base or the charger  
to charge the new battery for at least 16 hours.  
• The CHARGE light on the telephone base or  
charger will be on when the handset is properly  
positioned. Refer to the Troubleshooting section  
in the user’s manual if the CHARGE light is not on.  
End a call  
• Press OFF/CLEAR or put the handset back in the  
telephone base or charger.
