Be sure to press (OFF) on the unit for 2
seconds to turn off the clock display after
turning off the engine.
Otherwise, the clock display does not turn
off and this causes battery drain.

Precautions
Notes on discs
• If your car was parked in direct sunlight,
allow the unit to cool off before operating it.
• Power aerials will extend automatically
while the unit is operating.
• To keep the disc clean, do not touch the
surface. Handle the disc by its edge.
• Keep your discs in their cases or disc
magazines when not in use. Do not subject
the discs to heat/ high temperature. Avoid
leaving them in parked cars or on
dashboards/ rear trays.
If you have any questions or problems
concerning your unit that are not covered in
this manual, please consult your nearest Sony
dealer.
Mo ist u re co n d e n sa t io n
On a rainy day or in a very damp area,
moisture condensation may occur inside the
lenses and display of the unit. Should this
occur, the unit will not operate properly. In
such a case, remove the disc and wait for about
an hour until the moisture has evaporated.
• Do not attach labels, or use discs with sticky
ink/ residue. Such discs may stop spinning
when used, causing a malfunction, or may
ruin the disc.

Be careful not to splash juice or other soft
drinks onto the unit or discs.
• Discs with special shapes (heart-shaped
discs, octagonal discs, etc.) cannot be played
on this unit. Attempting to do so may
damage the unit. Do not use such discs.
• You cannot play 8 cm CDs.
• Before playing, clean the discs with a
commercially available cleaning cloth. Wipe
each disc from the centre out. Do not use
solvents such as benzine, thinner,
commercially available cleaners, or antistatic
spray intended for analog discs.

• You can play CD-Rs (recordable CDs)
designed for audio use on this unit.
Look for this mark to distinguish CD-Rs for
audio use.
Getting Started
Resetting the unit
Before operating the unit for the first time or
after replacing the car battery, you must reset
the unit.
Press the reset button with a pointed object,
such as a ballpoint pen.
This mark denotes that a disc is not for audio
use.
• Some CD-Rs (depending on the equipment
used for its recording or the condition of the
disc) may not play on this unit.
• You cannot play a CD-R that is not finalized*.
* A process necessary for a recorded CD-R disc to
be played on the audio CD player.
Reset button
Note
Pressing the reset button will erase the clock
setting and some stored contents.

Setting the clock
The clock uses a 12-hour digital indication.
CD Player
Example: To set the clock to 10:08
1 Press (DSPL) for 2 seconds.
Playing a disc
The hour indication flashes.
Insert the disc (labelled side up).
1 Press either side of the volume +/–
button to set the hour.
2 Press (SEL).
The minute indication flashes.
3 Press either side of the volume +/–
button to set the minute.
Playback starts automatically.
2 Press (DSPL).
If a disc is already inserted, press (SRC)
repeatedly until “CD” appears to start
playback.
The clock starts. After the clock setting is
completed, the display returns to normal
play mode.

The current track will repeat itself when it
reaches the end.
During playback, press (3) (REP) until
“REP” indicator appears in the display.

Storing stations
automatically
— Best Tuning Memory (BTM)
Radio
The unit can store up to 6 stations per band
(FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2).
The unit selects the stations with the strongest
signals within the selected band, and stores
them in the order of their frequency.
Ca u t io n
When tuning in stations while driving, use
Best Tuning Memory to prevent accidents.
1 Press (SRC) repeatedly to select the
radio.
2 Press (MODE) repeatedly to select the

The following items can be displayed.
3 Press (BTM) for 2 seconds.
The unit stores stations in the order of their
frequencies on the number buttons. A beep
sounds when the setting is stored.

Automatic tuning:

You can manually preset the desired stations
on any chosen number button.
Press either side of (SEEK/AMS) to search
for the station.
Scanning stops when the unit receives a
station. Press either side of (SEEK/AMS)
repeatedly until the desired station is
received.
Local Seek Mode:
1 Press (SRC) repeatedly to select the
radio.
If the automatic tuning stops too
frequently, press (SENS) repeatedly until
“LCL” indicator appears.
2 Press (MODE) repeatedly to select the
band.
3 Press either side of (SEEK/AMS) to tune
in the station that you w ant to store.
“LCL” indicator is displayed.
Only the stations with relatively strong
signals will be tuned in.
4 Press the desired number button ((1) to
(6)) until "MEM" appears.
The number button indication appears in
the display.
Tip
If you know the frequency of the station you want
to listen to, press either side of (SEEK/AMS) until
the desired frequency appears (manual tuning).
Note
If you try to store another station on the same
number button, the previously stored station will
be erased.

To activate the beep sound again, press these
buttons again.
Adjusting the sound
characteristics
You can adjust the bass, treble, balance, and
fader.
Note
If you connect an optional power amplifier and do
not use the built-in amplifier, the beep sound will
be deactivated.
Selecting the sound
position
1 Select the item you w ant to adjust by
pressing (SEL) repeatedly.
Each time you press (SEL), the item
changes as follows:
— My Best sound Position (MBP)
BAS (bass) t TRE (treble) t
BAL (left-right) t FAD (front-rear)
When you drive without passengers, you can
enjoy the most comfortable sound
environment with “My Best sound Position.”
“My Best sound Position” has two presets,
which adjust the sound level of balance and
fader. You can select one very easily with the
MBP button.
2 Adjust the selected item by pressing
either side of the volume +/– button.

The mode of “My Best sound Position” is
shown in the display in order of the table.
To restore the previous volume level, press
(ATT) again.
If you want to adjust the sound level of
balance and fader more precisely, you can
do it using the (SEL) button(see "Adjusting
the sound characteristics").
Notes
• When the BAL (balance) or FAD (fader) in
"Adjusting the sound characteristics" is adjusted,
the MBP setting returns OFF.
• When MBP is set to OFF, the BAL and FAD setting
is activated.

Information
Boosting the bass sound
— D-bass
You can enjoy a clear and powerful bass
sound. The D-bass function boosts the low
frequency signal and high frequency signal
with a sharper curve than conventional bass
boost.
You can hear the bass line more clearly even
while the vocal volume remains the same. You
can emphasize and adjust the bass sound
easily with the (D) (D-BASS) button.
Maintenance
Fu se re p la ce m e n t
When replacing the fuse, be sure to use one
matching the amperage rating stated on the
original fuse. If the fuse blows, check the
power connection and replace the fuse. If the
fuse blows again after replacement, there may
be an internal malfunction. In such a case,
consult your nearest Sony dealer.

the desired bass curve.

As the D-BASS number increases so does
the effect.

Note
Never use a fuse with an amperage rating
exceeding the one supplied with the unit as
this could damage the unit.
The bass sound may distort at same volume. If the
bass sound distorts, select less effective bass curve.

2 Insert a flathead screw driver betw een
the bracket and mounting spring. Gently
pry the spring tow ard the unit w hile
pulling the unit out a little. Repeat on
the opposite side and remove the unit.
Removing the unit
1 Insert the supplied tool betw een the unit
and the frame, and rotate 90° to release
the hidden mounting spring. Repeat on
the opposite side and remove the frame.

Troubleshooting
A disc cannot be loaded.
The following checklist will help you remedy
problems you may encounter with your unit.
Before going through the checklist below,
check the connection and operating
procedures.
• Another CD is already loaded.
• The CD is forcibly inserted upside down or
in the wrong way.
Playback does not begin.
• Dirty or defective disc.
• CD-R that is not finalized.
• You tried to playback a CD-R not designed
for audio use.
• Some CD-Rs may not play due to its
recording equipment or the disc condition.
Ge n e ra l
No sound.
• Press the volume + button to adjust the
volume.
• Cancel the ATT function.
• Set the fader control to the centre position
for a 2-speaker system.
A disc is automatically ejected.
The ambient temperature exceeds 50°C.
CD w ill not be ejected.
The operation buttons do not function.
Press the reset button.
The contents of the memory have been
erased.
• The reset button has been pressed.
t Store again into the memory.
• The power cord or battery has been
disconnected.
The sound skips from vibration.
• The unit is installed at an angle of more

• Para mantener los discos limpios, no toque la

En días lluviosos o en zonas muy húmedas, es
posible que se condense humedad dentro de
las lentes y visor de la unidad. Si esto ocurre,
ésta no funcionará correctamente. En este
caso, extraiga el disco y espere una hora
aproximadamente hasta que se haya
evaporado la humedad.
• No adhiera etiquetas, ni utilice discos con
residuos/ tinta pegajosos. Tales discos
pueden dejar de girar durante el uso,
causando fallos de funcionamiento, o pueden
dañarse.

Asegúrese de que no salpica zumos ni demás
bebidas suaves sobre la unidad o los discos.
• Los discos con formas especiales (forma de

audio en esta unidad.
Busque esta marca con el fin de distinguir los
discos CD-R para uso de audio.
Restauración de la unidad
Antes de utilizar la unidad por primera vez o
después de sustituir la batería del automóvil,
es preciso restaurar dicha unidad.
Extraiga el panel frontal y pulse el botón de
restauración con un objeto puntiagudo, como
un bolígrafo.
Esta marca indica que el disco no es para uso
de audio.

La unidad puede almacenar hasta 6 emisoras
por banda (FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 y AM2).
La unidad selecciona las emisoras de señal más

almacena por orden de frecuencia.

Si conecta un amplificador opcional de potencia y

1 Seleccione el elemento que desee ajustar
pulsando (SEL) varias veces.
Cada vez que pulse (SEL), el elemento
cambiará de la siguiente forma:

Si viaja sin pasajeros, podrá disfrutar de un
entorno acústico cómodo con “Posición de mi

“Posición de mi mejor sonido” dispone de dos
ajustes predefinidos, que permiten ajustar el
nivel de sonido del balance y del equilibrio
entre altavoces. Es posible seleccionar uno de
ellos muy fácilmente con el botón MBP.

Refuerzo de los graves
— D-Bass
Es posible disfrutar de graves nítidos e
intensos. La función D-bass refuerza las
señales de baja y alta frecuencia con una curva
más marcada que la del refuerzo de graves
convencional.
Mantenimiento
Es posible recibir la línea de graves con mayor
nitidez aunque el volumen del sonido vocal no
haya variado. Puede potenciar y ajustar los
graves fácilmente con el botón (D) (D-BASS).

濕氣凝結
逢雨天或地處非常潮濕的環境，濕氣可能會

•您能夠用本機播放用於音頻的CD-R光碟（可刻錄

準備工作
•請尋找該標志，以識別用於音頻的CD-R光碟。
復位本機
在第一次使用本機前或更換汽車電池後，必
須使本機復位。
拆卸前板，然後用帶尖頭的物體，如圓珠

自動記憶電臺
— 最佳調諧記憶功能（BTM）
收音機
本機可選擇信號最強的電臺，並按照它們的
頻率順序加以記憶。
在每一波段上（FM1，FM2，FM3，AM1， 和
AM2）最多可存儲 6 個電臺。
1 反覆按下 (SRC) 鍵，選擇調諧器。
告誡
當在駕車過程中調諧電臺時，務請使用最佳
調諧記憶功能，以免發生事故。
2 反覆按下 (MODE) 鍵，選擇波段。
3 按住(BTM)鍵兩秒鐘。
本機按照電臺的頻率順序將電台存儲在數字鍵
上。

若 FM 立體聲的收音狀況不良
— 單聲道模式
收聽所記憶的電臺
收音机接收廣播中，反覆按下鍵 (SENS) 直
至“MONO”出現。
1 反覆按下 (SRC) 鍵，選擇調諧器。
2 反覆按下 (MODE) 鍵，選擇波段。
3 按下存儲有所要電臺的數字按鈕（(1) 至
“MONO”指示顯示。

其它功能

要再獲得“嘟嘟”警告聲功能時，再次按壓
這些鍵即可。
調節音響特性
您可以調節低音，高音，平衡和音量漸減。
註
若您連接選購的功率放大器而不使用內置放大器，
則“嘟嘟”警告聲功能將失去作用。

故障排除
唱碟無法裝入。
下列檢查表有助於解決您使用本機時可能遇
到的問題。
在使用下面的檢查表之前，請檢查連接和操
• 已裝有其他 CD。
• 光碟被上下顛倒地或以錯誤的方式用力插入
裝置。
作步驟是否正確。
播放無法開始。
概述
• 弄臟或受損的光碟。
• 未完成最後刻錄過程的CD-R光碟。
• 您試圖播放非音頻使用的CD-R光碟。
• 因其刻錄設備或光碟狀況的緣故，某些CD-R
光碟可能無法播放。
無聲。
• 按下音量 (+) 按鈕調節音量。
• 取消 ATT 功能
• 將雙路揚聲器系統的顯隱控制鍵設定在中心
