About this Manual  
This manual provides instructions to help you enjoy your new TV. It shows you how to  
connect to an antenna or cable, cable box, VCR, DVD, satellite receiver, stereo system, or  
camcorder. Once your TV is connected, follow the instructions and use the remote control to  
access the on-screen menus.  
Batteries for the Remote Control  
Insert two AA (R6) batteries (supplied) into the remote control using the following illustration  
as a guide.  
✍ Under normal conditions, batteries will last up to six months. If the remote control does not operate  
properly, the batteries might be worn out.  
✍ If you will not be using the remote control for an extended period of time, remove the batteries to  
avoid possible damage from battery leakage.

The front Audio/Video panel controls allow you to access the menu without the remote

If you have video equipment other than Sony brand (or if you have a Sony DVD/VCR  
combination unit) that you want to control with the TV’s remote control, use the following  
procedure to program the remote control.

Check the list of “Manufacturer’s Codes” on page 6 and find the three-digit code number  
for the manufacturer of your component. If more than one code number is listed, use the  
number listed first.

connect the audio cables.

This input connects to the AUDIO/VIDEO output jacks on your  
VCR or other video equipment. A third video input jack

Basic Connections  
TV with Cable, Indoor, or Outdoor Antenna  
Depending on the cable system available in your home, choose one of the connections below:  
Use option A to connect the TV to a cable system or an antenna with a 75-ohm cable  
(usually built into newer homes).  
✍ Converter EAC-25 is commercially known as a 300-to-75 ohm antenna adapter.  
Use option B to connect the TV to a dipole antenna, also known as a “rabbit ears antenna”  
(usually found in older homes).  
✍ If you are connecting to an indoor or outdoor antenna, you may need to adjust the orientation of the  
antenna for the best reception.

directional splitter (5-900 Mhz minimum) that is designed to work with your digital cable box.  
Use this connection if you subscribe to a cable system that scrambles some channels (pay  
channels), but not all of them. This setup allows you to:

About Memory Stick  
Memory Stick (sold separately) is a new, compact, portable, and versatile Integrated Circuit  
recording medium with a data capacity that exceeds that of a floppy disk. Memory Stick is  
specially designed for sharing digital data among Memory Stick compatible products such as  
digital cameras and digital video cameras. Because it is removable, Memory Stick can also be  
used for external data storage.  
The Memory Stick Viewer on your TV allows you to view digital photos (JPEG files) that are  
stored on Memory Stick media.  
You can also play slide show background music using MP3 files stored on your Memory Stick.  
✍ Memory Stick Viewer only supports 128 Kbps fixed rate MP3 files.

Memory Stick PRO media features vary by and are dependent upon the design of host hard-  
ware devices. Memory Stick PRO in this television has been tested to support up to 1 GB  
media capacity and does not support high-speed transfer, MagicGate copyright protection  
technology, or access control security features.  
Memory Stick Functionality  
Sony cannot guarantee or assure the Memory Stick functionality on this television in the fol-  
lowing cases:

Sony recommends that you back up all data stored on Memory Stick media prior to use with  
the TV’s Memory Stick Viewer, to avoid any potential data loss. Sony cannot accept responsi-  
bility in the event that data recorded to Memory Stick media is lost or damaged. For certain  
non-Sony brand Memory Stick media, you can view images, but you cannot rotate, delete or  
protect/unprotect images on the television. This is a result of the unique file directory struc-  
ture on these particular flash memory media and is not malfunction of the television.

cameras. In order to be viewable in the Memory Stick Viewer, the files must have the

versions of Memory Stick. It is not necessary to use an adapter for Memory Stick Duo and Memory  
Stick PRO Duo. If you use an adapter it may damage the adapter and Memory Stick slot.  
Inserting a Memory Stick  
Locate the Memory Stick slot and insert the Memory Stick into the Memory Stick slot as  
illustrated below. When inserted properly, it should slide in with little resistance and click into  
place.

Check that the Memory Stick indicator light is off. When the light is on, this indicates that  
the TV is reading data from the Memory Stick.  
✍ Removing the Memory Stick while a file is being accessed (when the Memory Stick indicator light on  
the TV’s front panel is lit) may damage the Memory Stick or its contents.

Push the Memory Stick gently into the slot, and then release it. The Memory Stick media is  
ejected.  
✍ Do not pull out the Memory Stick without first pushing it in; otherwise, the TV’s locking mechanism  
may become damaged.

Pull the Memory Stick completely out of the slot.  
✍ To protect small children from injury from Memory Stick media, remove all Memory Stick media from  
the TV’s Memory Stick slot and store it in a safe location when it is not in use.

About DCF File Names  
Most Sony brand digital still and video cameras automatically record still photo and movie  
files using DCF-compliant directory and file names.  
If you selected the Digital Camera Folders option, as described on page 34, you might want  
to have your digital camera’s instruction manual handy in order to check how files and  
directories are organized for your specific model of digital camera.  
DCF stands for “Design Rules for Camera File Systems,” which are specifications established  
by the Japan Electronic Industry Development Association (JEIDA).

You must set up your DVD player before you can connect it  
using component video outputs (Y, PB, PR). Disconnect the DVD  
player and set it up, referring to the DVD manual for

Video“ on page 18.
