General Instructions
Grounding Instructions
This appliance must be properly grounded. If it should malfunc-
tion or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance
for electric current, reducing the risk of electric shock. This appli-
ance is equipped with a cord that has an equipment-grounding
conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into
an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
Warning: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding
conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a
qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to
whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug
provided with this appliance. If the plug will not fit the outlet,
have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use in a nominal 120V circuit, and has a
grounded plug that looks like the plug illustrated in sketch A.
A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated in
sketches B and C may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole
receptacle as shown in sketch B if a properly grounded outlet is

not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until
a properly grounded outlet (sketch A) can be installed by a quali-
fied electrician. The rigid lug (usually green) extending from the
adapter must be connected to a permanent ground, such as a
properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the adapter is
used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.

Steam or Steam Spray
The tank must always contain water when operating in the

or SPRAY button. Allow 30 seconds for the unit to begin

Cleaning
Clean after each use or when the collection chamber becomes
full. The water tank must be emptied before the unit is stored.
1. Disconnect the Steam Wizard from the wall socket and hold
the unit over a wastebasket, pointing the nozzle down.
2. Release the locking tab located at the rear of the chamber.
Pull the chamber away from the unit.
3. Remove and clean the internal parts.
4. Empty the chamber by shaking it over a wastebasket. Rinse
the chamber and filter under running water to remove
remaining dirt.
5. Reassemble the unit to continue using the Steam Wizard. Once
cleaning is complete, the chamber and attachments should be
washed in warm soapy water before final reassembly and storage.
6. To empty the water tank, remove it from the main housing
and hold it over a drain. Remove the water tank cap and turn
the tank over to drain remaining water.
7. DO NOT overtighten the water tank cap when replacing it.
Tighten the cap only until resistance is felt and it cannot be
turned further without force.

Stain Removal Tips
Always test-clean a small section of the stained area first. Most
cleaning agents will do damage to certain fabrics or dyes.
•For most fresh spills, remove as much liquid as possible, as quickly
as possible. Use the Steam Wizard vacuum to extract liquid from
the carpet or upholstery before preparing to steam clean.
•The exception to this is strong acids which should be flushed
with water if possible, and then neutralized by sprinkling bak-
ing soda or an ammonia solution onto the spill area. Acids are
dangerous and it may be hard to prevent some damage. Do
not vacuum acid or allow it to dry until it has been neutralized.
•Once most of the liquid is removed, there is less risk of a seri-
ous stain. Consider the best alternatives for removing the
remainder of the spill.
•Avoid mixing cleaning solutions or agents with anything other
than water. Some chemical combinations can be deadly to you
as well as to your carpet.
•Once you have removed the liquid from a spill, don’t add
water until you steam clean the area. Water will reactivate the
stain and soak it deeper into the fabric.

Stain Removal Tips
•First try to clean the spill with steam only. In most cases the
steam will eliminate the spill with the lowest possible risk of
permanent damage. Boost your cleaning power by using a
spray bottle to mist over the soiled area with a cleaning agent.
Let the mist settle on the stain for a minute, then clean with
the Steam Wizard. Use cleaning agents only as a last resort.

Stain Removal Tips
Tough Stains and Suggested Agents for Cleaning
Spray a mist of the cleaning agent into the stain. After a few min-
utes, spray-steam clean. Finish by vacuuming up any remaining
liquid. Remove all agents before they dry into fabric.

Stain Removal Tips
•Never use more than one chemical or cleaning agent on a stain.
•Use only water or steam to remove stains treated with baking soda.
•When flushing with water, vacuum up immediately. Do not soak.
