INTRODUCTION
Thank-you for choosing Sanyo. This compact home audio system comes with a built-in CD player,
AM/FM stereo receiver, clock/alarm/kitchen timer, and a separate full-function remote control that can
be neatly stored in its own holder. This Sanyo unit is uniquely designed to operate in a vertical or
out-of-the-way horizontal position. The slim design of this system, which comes with a detachable
folding bracket for mounting, allows for great versatility in your home or office. It can be:
• Placed upright on a counter or shelf.
• Mounted on a wall.
• Mounted under a shelf or cupboard.

1. Read instructions – All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated.

5. Cleaning – Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaner or aerosol
cleaners. Use a damp cloth only.
6. Attachments – Do not use attachments not recommended by the product manufacturer as they may cause
hazards.
7. Water and moisture – Do not use this product near water – for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen
sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near swimming pool, etc.
8. Accessories – Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may
fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only with the cart, stand,
tripod, bracket or table recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the product. Any mounting of the
product should follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
9. A product and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces
may cause the product and cart combination to overturn.
10. Ventilation – Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of
the unit, protecting it from overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered, for example, by
placing the unit on a bed, sofa, rug or other similar surface. Do not place the unit in a built-in installation such
as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
11. Power sources – This product should be operated using only the type of power source indicated on the marking
label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your local power company. For
products intended to operate from battery power or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.
12. Power-cord protection – Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched
by items placed on or against them, paying particular attention to the cords where they connect to plugs,
convenience receptacles, and the point at which they connect to the product.
13. Outdoor antenna grounding – If an outside antenna is connected to the receiver, be sure the
antenna system is grounded so as to provided some protection against voltage surges and built-up
static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with
regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to
an antenna-discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit,
connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. See figure:
14. Lightning – For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused
for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will
prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power line surges.
15. Power lines – An outside antenna system should be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other
electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside
antenna system, extreme care should be taken to avoid touching such power lines or circuits, as contact with
them could be fatal.

16. Overloading – Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles, to avoid the
risk of fire or electric shock.
17. Object and liquid entry – Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch
dangerous voltage points or short-out parts, which could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of
any kind on the product.
18. Servicing – Do not attempt to service this product yourself, as opening or removing covers may expose you to
dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
19. Damage requiring service – Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service
personnel under the following conditions:
a) When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged,
b) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product,
c) If the product has been exposed to rain or water,
d) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those
controls that are covered by the operating instructions, as an adjustment of other controls may result in
damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal
operation.

INSTALLATION

1. Attach Section A of the bracket onto the wall or
underside of the cupboard with 3 mounting
screws (A), washers (B), and nuts (supplied).
2. If the cabinet bottom has a valance for
fluorescent lights, etc., you will need 1 or more
of the supplied spacers (C, D, E, F) to mount the
unit flush with the front of the lowest surface.
3. Insert the system into Section B as shown with
arrow (1), and slide it down as shown with
arrow (2).
4. Attach the unit onto Section B with 5 mounting
screws (supplied).

The unit can now be raised with the hinges of the
bracket so that it fits under your cabinet with the
controls and the display clearly visible.

BACK-UP BATTERY INSTALLATION
Insert 2 AA batteries (not supplied) to maintain
timer and tuner/CD programming in case of
power failure.
1. Press the DISPLA Y button

BASIC OPERATION

1. Press MUTE to mute the audio output.
When the supplied AC adapter is first connected,
the clock display will flash. To set the clock, see
page 13.
2. Press the button once more to set the
volume to the original level.
1. To turn the power on, press POWER on
the remote or STANDBY on the unit. The
display lights up.
N O T E :

Vol 0 is indicated for 1 second, and then it
returns to the original display.
•
Vol 0 will appear once every 4 seconds
2. Press either TUNER/BAND to play the
radio or CD to play a CD.

When the unit is first connected to the supplied
AC adapter, the display shows AM 12:00. To set
the clock to the correct time, proceed as
follows. Please note: proceed to the next step
within 5 seconds or the system reverts
automatically to step 1.
NOTE: Set the clock before setting the Wake

1. With the unit turned off, press MEMOR Y

the TIMER ON has been set. The ON indicator
stops flashing to confirm that the setting
has been made.
5. Press the CD SKIP forward or backward
buttons to set the minutes to 30.

OFF has been set. The OFF display stops
flashing to confirm that the setting has
been made.
To cancel the Timer On setting:
Press MODE/CLOCK several times until TIMER
is flashing and ON is not. Then press WAKE
TIMER until TIMER ON is flashing.
TIMER OFF (shut-off time) Setting
Example: You wish to set the unit to shut off at
8:30 a.m.
To cancel the Timer Off setting:
Press MODE/CLOCK several times until TIMER
is flashing and OFF is not.
1. Press MODE/CLOCK once, and the TIMER
OFF indicator flashes.
Then press WAKE TIMER until TIMER OFF is
flashing.

This feature lets you adjust the night-time
listening volume as desired without affecting
the wake-up volume. In the morning, SureWake
starts the music quietly and then increases the
volume to room level to make sure you are
awake.

1. Press 1 MIN two times.

display changes from 10 minutes up to

When the unit has switched itself on by means
of the Wake Timer, press SNOOZE to switch the
sound off for approximately 5 minutes. When
the unit switches itself on again, you can press
SNOOZE again for another 5 minutes or switch
the unit off with POWER ON/ST ANDBY .

You can set Cook Timer for up to 99
minutes.

2. Insert a disc and then push EJECT to
close the CD door. The display shows the
total number of tracks and the timing.
Ensure that the disc is correctly mounted on
the spindle and locked in place.
While the CD is playing:
Press fonce: Back to the beginning of
the current track.
Press ftwice: Back to the previous track.
Press e once: Skip to the next track.
While the CD is stopped:

tracks in a sequence of your choice. With the
unit turned on,

number programmed on each program

7. Press PLAY/PAUSE to play the tracks in
the programmed order.
Note: If the program already exists, press
MEMOR Y and then press PLAY/PAUSE, and
the program play will begin.

In the stop mode, press INTRO on the remote
to begin intro playing; the first 10 seconds of
each track will be played.
Press INTRO again to change to normal playing
mode.
Clear the Programs
In Stop mode, press MEMOR Y once and then
press STOP . The preset programs will be
cancelled.

Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers etc., to the disc label.
Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth.
Never use detergents or adhesive cleaners to clean the disc.
When cleaning the disc, wipe in straight lines from the center of the disc to the edge. Never wipe in a circular motion.
Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris, so gently
wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles.

If the disc skips or is stuck on a track, it is probably dirty or damaged (scratched).

WARRANTY APPLICATION
WARRANTY BECOMES VOID
New, unused Sanyo Audio products purchased
through a Sanyo authorized dealer in Canada are
warranted against manufacturing defects in materials
and workmanship for ONE YEAR from the date of
purchase by the original retail purchaser. This
warranty only applies in favour of the original retail
purchaser of the warranted product.
This warranty becomes void if the product’s serial
numbers are altered or removed or if any repair to the
product is made other than by SANYO Canada Inc. or
by an authorized Sanyo Service Depot.
LIMITATIONS

or improve the design of the model of the product
warranted hereunder without incurring any
SANYO CANADA INC.’S RESPONSIBILITY
