Step 1: Unpack Your SuperTrak
When you receive the SuperTrak Serial ATA (SATA) RAID Controller card, the
package should contain the items listed below:

If any of the items are missing or appear damaged, please contact your dealer or
distributor immediately.
Warning
The electronic components on the SuperTrak RAID Controller
card are sensitive to damage from Electro-Static Discharge (ESD).
Observe appropriate precautions at all times when handling the
SuperTrak card or its subassemblies.
Warning
Before installing the adapter into an existing system, backup any
important or useful data. Failure to follow this accepted PC
practice could result in data loss.

Note
The SuperTrak EX4350 RAID Controller card is a PCI Plug-n-Play
(PnP) device. No changes are necessary in the motherboard
CMOS/BIOS Setup for resources or drive types in most
applications.
Step 2: Install the SuperTrak EX4350 Card
The SuperTrak EX4350 card fits into any available 3.3-volt PCI-Express X4 slot.
You can also plug the SuperTrak card into a PCI-Express X8 or X16 slot.
1. Remove the cover of your system.
2. Remove the inside slot cover of an available PCI-Express slot on the
motherboard.
3. Install the SuperTrak card into the open slot (see above).
4. Fasten the SuperTrak card bracket to the system case (see above).

Important
If you wish to include your current bootable SATA drive using the
Windows operating system as part of a bootable Mirrored (RAID
1) logical drive on your SuperTrak card, do NOT connect the disk
drive to the SuperTrak yet. You MUST install the Windows driver
software first onto this drive while it is still attached to your existing
disk drive controller.
The SuperTrak EX4350 RAID Controller card supports 1.5-Gb/s and 3.0-Gb/s
SATA disk drives. For optimal performance, install disk drives of the same model
and capacity. The drives’ matched performance allows the logical drive to
function better as a single drive.

The table above shows the number of drives required for each RAID level.
1. Install the disk drives into the disk drive bays of your system.
If you are using SuperSwap Enclosures, the Port ID of each disk drive must
match the Channel number.
Caution
If you plan to use a removable disk drive enclosures other than
Promise Technology’s SuperSwap, be sure it meets the SAF-TE
standard. Other enclosures are not supported and may result in
performance loss or other undesired results.

Attach one SATA data cable to each disk drive. Then attach the other ends of the
cables to the connectors on the SuperTrak card (above).
2. Attach the Y-cable power splitters to each of the disk drives
3. Optional. Attach cables from the LED pins on the SuperTrak card (see
above) to the activity LEDs in your enclosure.
The Promise SuperSwap enclosure has its own internal LED connections.
SuperSwap does not use the individual LED connectors shown above.
Connect the SATA data cables so the channel numbers on the SuperTrak
card match the drive carrier numbers in the enclosure. See the SuperSwap
User Manual for additional information.
Step 4: Create a Logical Drive
You will now use the onboard SuperBuild BIOS utility to create a logical drive with
the attached drives. Even if you plan to use the WebPAM software to manage
your logical drive, you can still create your first logical drive using the SuperBuild
Utility, as described here.
For an explanation of the logical drive concepts, see Chapter 6 of the SuperTrak
EX4350 User Manual on the CD.

Step 4: Create a Logical Drive
1. Boot your system. If this is the first time you have booted with the SuperTrak
card and drives installed, the Promise onboard BIOS will display the
following screen
2. Press the Ctrl-S keys to display the SuperBuild Utility Main Menu.
The SuperBuild Utility opens with the Main Menu displays.
3. Press the arrow keys to highlight Logical Drive Management and press
Enter.

The Logical Drive Management screen displays.
4. Highlight Create and press Enter.
The Create Logical Drive Step 1/2 screen appears.
Use this screen to select the physical drives for your logical drive.
5. Press the arrow keys to highlight a physical drive. Then press the spacebar
to select the physical drive.
An asterisk (*) appears at the left of each selected physical drive.
6. When you have selected all your physical drives, highlight Next and press
Enter.
The Create Logical Drive Step 2/2 screen appears, with default logical drive
settings.
7. To change the RAID Level, highlight RAID Level and press Enter.

Step 4: Create a Logical Drive
In the popup menu, highlight your choice of RAID Level and press Enter.
The available RAID Levels depend on the number of physical drives you
selected for this logical drive.
8. Press the arrow keys to highlight Logical Drive Name. Type a name for your
logical drive and press Enter.
9. To use less than the full physical drive capacity for this logical drive, highlight
Capacity and press Enter.
Press the Delete or Backspace keys to erase the current capacity. Type the
new capacity in MB to allocate to this logical drive.
Later, you can assign the unused capacity to a second logical drive.
10. To change the Stripe Size, highlight Stripe Size and press Enter.
Highlight your choice of 32, 64 or 128 KB and press Enter.
11. To change the Initialization Mode, highlight Init Mode and press Enter.
Highlight your choice of No, Quick, or Full initialization and press Enter.
12. To change the Write Cache Policy, highlight Write Cache Policy and press
Enter.
Highlight your choice of Write Through or Write Back and press Enter.
13. To change the Gigabyte Boundary feature, highlight Gigabyte Boundary and
press Enter.
Highlight your choice of No or Yes and press Enter.
14. Highlight Save and press Enter.
The Logical Drive Management screen appears with your new logical drive.
At this point you can create additional logical drives, if there is physical drive
space available.
15. Press the F10 key to exit the SuperBuild utility and press Y to confirm and
restart the computer.
Do not press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys. Do not press the Esc key.
You have successfully created a new RAID logical drive.

Step 5: Install Software Drivers
Drivers for the Windows operating systems are included on the CD that came
with your SuperTrak Controller card. Please download the latest drivers from the
Windows systems usually recognize the SuperTrak Controller, prompt you for the
CD or diskette and perform the driver installation automatically.
If you are installing the SuperTrak Controller at the same time as your operating
system or you prefer to read step-by-step directions, see Chapter 3 of the
SuperTrak EX4350 User Manual on the software CD.
Step 6: WebPAM Installation
A complete set of installation instructions is found in Chapter 2 of the SuperTrak
EX4350 User Manual on the software CD.

advantage of all the features of WebPAM.
Browser Support
On the Host PC where you install the SuperTrak controller and WebPAM, you

If you do not have one of the above browsers, install the browser first and make it
the default browser. Then install WebPAM.

Log-in to WebPAM
Windows
Follow these steps to install WebPAM on your Windows-based PC or Server.
1. Boot up the PC/server and launch Windows.
If the computer is already running, exit all programs.
2. Insert the software CD into your CD-ROM drive.
3. Double-click on the Install CD's icon to open it.
4. Double-click on the Installer icon to launch it (right).
The first WebPAM PRO installation dialog box appears.
5. Follow the prompts in the installation dialog box.
Linux
Follow these steps to install WebPAM on your Linux-based PC or Server.
1. Boot up the PC/server and launch the Linux GUI.
If the computer is already running, exit all programs.
2. Insert the software CD into your CD-ROM drive.
3. In the CD window, double-click on the webpam...bin icon to
begin installation (right).
4. When the Run or Display? dialog box appears, click Run in
Terminal.
After several moments, the Terminal window closes and the first WebPAM
installation dialog box appears.
5. Follow the prompts in the installation dialog box.
FreeBSD
Please refer to Chapter 2 of the SuperTrak EX4350 User Manual on the software
CD.
Log-in to WebPAM
Double-click on the WebPAM icon on your Windows desktop (right). Or,
1. Launch your Browser.
2. In the Browser address field, type in the IP address of the Host PC, as
explained below.
If you did not choose the External Security option during WebPAM
installation, use the Regular connection.
If you chose the External Security option during WebPAM installation, use
the Secure connection.

Note that the IP address shown above applies to a log-in at the Host PC.
When you log in over a network, enter the Host PC’s actual IP address.
Opening Screen
When the opening screen appears:
1. Type admin in the Login ID field.
2. Type admin in the Password field.
3. Click the Sign in button.
This is the default login for the Administrator. Each user will have their own Login
ID (the User ID) and password. See Chapter 5 of the SuperTrak EX4350 User
Manual on the software CD for more information.
The Login ID and Password are case sensitive.

Anmerkung
Bei der SuperTrak EX4350-RAID-Controller-Erweiterungskarte
handelt es sich um ein PCI Plug-n-Play (PnP)-Gerät. In den
meisten Anwendungen müssen am Hauptplatinen-CMOS/BIOS-
Setup für Ressourcen oder Laufwerktypen keine Änderungen
vorgenommen werden.
Schritt 2: Einstecken der SuperTrak EX4350-
Erweiterungskarte
Die SuperTrak EX4350-Erweiterungskarte passt in alle verfügbaren 3,3 Volt PCI-
Express X4-Steckplätze. Sie können die SuperTrak-Karte auch an einem PCI-
Express X8- oder X16-Steckplatz anschließen.
1. Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Systems.
2. Entfernen Sie die Steckplatz-Innenabdeckung eines verfügbaren PCI-
Express-Steckplatzes an der Hauptplatine.
3. Stecken Sie die SuperTrak-Erweiterungskarte in den offenen Steckplatz
(siehe obere Abbildung).
4. Befestigen Sie das SuperTrak-Kartenabdeckblech am Systemgehäuse
(siehe obere Abbildung).

Wichtig
Wenn Sie Ihre aktuelle, bootfähige SATA-Festplatte im Windows-
Betriebssystem als bootfähiges logisches Laufwerk-Mirror
(RAID 1) auf Ihrer SuperTrak-Erweiterungskarte führen wollen,
verbinden Sie die Festplatte NOCH NICHT mit der SuperTrak-
Karte. Sie MÜSSEN zunächst die Windows-Treiber-Software auf
diesem Laufwerk installieren, während dieses noch an Ihrem
vorhandenen Festplatten-Controller angeschlossen ist.
Die SuperTrak EX4350 RAID-Controller-Erweiterungskarte unterstützt SATA-
Festplatten mit 1.5 Gb/s und 3,0 Gb/s. Für eine optimale Leistung installieren Sie
Festplatten desselben Modells und derselben Kapazität. Die Leistung beider
Laufwerke ermöglicht es dem logischen Laufwerk, besser als ein Einzellaufwerk
zu funktionieren.

Vorsicht
Falls Sie vorhaben, anstatt SuperSwap von Promise Technology
ein anderes Wechselplattengehäuse zu verwenden, stellen Sie
sicher, dass es dem SAF-TE-Standard entspricht. Andere
Gehäuse werden nicht unterstützt und können zu Leistungsverlust
oder anderen unerwünschten Folgen führen.

Verbinden Sie jeweils ein SATA-Datenkabel mit jeder Festplatte. Schließen Sie
die anderen Enden der Kabel dann an den Anschlüssen der SuperTrak-Karte an
(siehe oben).
2. Verbinden Sie die Y-Strom-Verteilerkabel mit mit jeder Festplatte

(siehe oben) an den Aktivitäts-LEDs in Ihrem Gehäuse an.
Das Promise SuperSwap Gehäuse hat seine eigenen internen LED-
Verbindungen. SuperSwap benutzt die oben gezeigten individuellen LED-
Anschlüsse nicht. Verbinden Sie die SATA-Datenkabel so, dass die
Kanalnummern auf der SuperTrak-Erweiterungskarte mit den Festplatten-
Trägernummern des Gehäuses übereinstimmen. Weitere Informationen
finden Sie im SuperSwap Benutzerhandbuch.
Schritt 4: Anlegen eines logischen Laufwerks
Mit Hilfe des SuperBuild BIOS-Dienstprogramms legen Sie jetzt ein logisches
Laufwerk mit den angeschlossenen Festplatten an. Selbst wenn Sie vorhaben,
Ihr logisches Laufwerk mit der WebPAM-Software zu verwalten, können Sie Ihr
erstes logisches Laufwerk dennoch mit Hilfe des SuperBuild-Dienstprogramms
anlegen, wie hierin beschrieben.

1. Starten Sie Ihr System. Wenn Sie das System das erste Mal mit installierter
SuperTrak-Karte und installierten Festplatten starten, zeigt das Promise-
Onboard-BIOS folgenden Bildschirm.
2. Drücken Sie die Tastenkombination Strg-S, um das Hauptmenü des
SuperBuild-Dienstprogramms anzuzeigen.
Das SuperBuild-Dienstprogramm öffnet mit den Hauptmenüanzeigen.
3. Drücken Sie die Pfeiltasten, um Logical Drive Management (Verwaltung des
logischen Laufwerks) zu markieren und drücken Sie danach die
Eingabetaste.

Laufwerks) zeigt Folgendes:

Leertaste.
Ein Asterisk (*) erscheint links bei jedem ausgewählten physischen
Laufwerk.
6. Nachdem Sie alle physischen Laufwerke ausgewählt haben, markieren Sie
Next (Weiter) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.

Schritt 4: Anlegen eines logischen Laufwerks
Der Bildschirm „Create Logical Drive Step 2/2“ (Anlegen eines logischen
Laufwerks Schritt 2/2) erscheint mit Standardeinstellungen des logischen
Laufwerks.
7. Markieren Sie zum Ändern der RAID-Stufe RAID Level (RAID-Stufe) und
drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Markieren Sie im Popup-Menü die gewünschte RAID-Stufe und drücken Sie
die Eingabetaste.
Die verfügbaren RAID-Stufen hängen von der Anzahl physischer Laufwerke
ab, die Sie für dieses logische Laufwerk ausgewählt haben.
8. Drücken Sie zum Markieren des Namens des logischen Laufwerks auf die
Pfeiltasten. Geben Sie einen Namen für Ihr logisches Laufwerk ein und
drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
9. Um weniger als die volle Kapazität des physischen Laufwerks für dieses
logische Laufwerk zu verwenden, markieren Sie Capacity (Kapazität) und
drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Drücken Sie auf die Entf- oder Rücktaste, um die aktuelle Kapazität zu
löschen. Geben Sie die neue Kapazität in MB ein, die auf dieses logische
Laufwerk zugewiesen werden soll.
Später können Sie die ungenutzte Kapazität einem zweiten logischen
Laufwerk zuordnen.
10. Markieren Sie zum Ändern der Streifengröße Stripe Size (Streifengröße) und
drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Markieren Sie je nach Wunsch 32, 64 oder 128 KB und drücken Sie die
Eingabetaste.
11. Markieren Sie zum Ändern des Initialisierungsmodus Init Mode
(Initialisierungsmodus) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Markieren Sie Ihre Auswahl „No“ (Nein), „Quick“ (Schnell) oder „Full
initialization“ (Vollständigie Initialisierung) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
12. Markieren Sie zum Ändern der Write Cache-Richtlinie Write Cache Policy
(Write Cache-Richtlinie) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Markieren Sie je nach Wunsch „Write Through“ (Durchschreiben) oder
„Write Back“ (Zurückschreiben) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
13. Markieren Sie um Ändern der Funktion Gigabyte-Grenze Gigabyte Boundary
(Gigabyte-Grenze) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.

Markieren Sie je nach Wunsch entweder „Yes“ (Ja) oder „No“ (Nein) und
drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
14. Markieren Sie Save (Speichern) und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.
Der Bildschirm „Logical Drive Management“ (Verwaltung des logischen
Laufwerks) wird angezeigt mit Ihrem neuen logischen Laufwerk.
Falls noch Platz auf dem logischen Laufwerk vorhanden ist, können Sie jetzt
weitere logische Laufwerke erstellen.
15. Drücken Sie die Taste F10 um das SuperBuild-Dienstprogramm zu
verlassen. Drücken Sie Y um dies zu bestätigen und den Computer neu zu
starten.
Drücken Sie nicht auf die Strg-Alt-Entf-Tasten. Drücken Sie nicht auf die Esc-
Taste.
Sie haben ein neues logisches RAID-Laufwerk erstellt.
Schritt 5: Installieren von Software-Treibern
Die Treiber für das Betriebssystem Windows sind auf der CD enthalten, die im
Lieferumfang Ihrer SuperTrak Controllerkarte enthalten ist. Laden Sie bitte die
aktuellen Treiber von der Promise Website auf www.promise.com/support
herunter.
Normalerweise erkennen Windows-Systeme den SuperTrak-Controller, fordern

Remarque
La carte de contrôleur RAID SuperTrak EX4350 est un
périphérique PCI Plug-n-Play (PnP). La configuration CMOS/
BIOS de la carte mère ne nécessite pas de modifications quant
aux ressources ou types de lecteur dans la plupart des
applications.
Étape 2 : Installation de la carte SuperTrak EX4350
La carte SuperTrak EX4350 entre dans tout logement PCI-Express X4 de 3,3
volts disponible. Vous pouvez également connecter la carte SuperTrak dans un
logement PCI-Express X8 ou X16.
1. Retirez le capot de votre système.
2. Retirez le cache intérieur d'un logement PCI-Express disponible sur la carte
mère.
3. Installez la carte SuperTrak dans le logement disponible (voir ci-dessus).
4. Sécurisez la languette métallique de la carte SuperTrak au bâti du système
(voir ci-dessus).

Important
Si vous souhaitez que votre lecteur SATA de démarrage actuel,
qui utilise le système d'exploitation Windows, fasse partie d'une
unité logique (RAID 1) miroir de démarrage sur votre carte
SuperTrak, ne connectez PAS immédiatement le lecteur de disque
à la carte SuperTrak. Vous devez D'ABORD installer le logiciel de
pilote Windows sur ce lecteur, alors qu'il est encore connecté à
votre contrôleur de lecteur de disque existant.
La carte de contrôleur RAID SuperTrak EX4350 prend en charge les lecteurs de
disque SATA 1,5 Gb/s et 3,0 Gb/s. Pour des performances optimales, installez
des lecteurs de disque de mêmes modèle et capacité. Les performances
correspondantes des lecteurs permettent à l'unité logique de mieux fonctionner
en tant qu'unité unique.

1. Installez les lecteurs de disque dans les baies correspondantes de votre
système.
Si vous utilisez des boîtiers SuperSwap, l'ID de port de chaque lecteur de
disque doit correspondre au numéro de canal.
Attention
Si vous souhaitez utiliser des boîtiers de lecteur de disque
amovibles d'une marque autre que SuperSwap de Promise
Technology, assurez-vous qu'ils sont conformes aux normes
SAF-TE (Fonction d'autorisation d'accès - Équipement terminal).
Les autres boîtiers ne sont pas pris en charge et peuvent
engendrer des résultats indésirables, entre autres une réduction
des performances.

Reliez un câble de données SATA à chaque lecteur de disque. Branchez ensuite
les autres extrémités des câbles aux connecteurs de la carte SuperTrak (voir ci-
dessus).
2. Reliez les séparateurs de sortie en forme d'Y des câbles d'alimentation à
chacun des lecteurs de disque.
3. Facultatif. Fixez les câbles des broches des DEL situées sur la carte
SuperTrak (voir ci-dessus) aux DEL d'activité de votre boîtier.
Le boîtier SuperSwap de Promise possède ses propres connexions DEL
internes. SuperSwap n'utilise pas les connecteurs DEL présentés ci-dessus.
Reliez les câbles de données SATA de façon à ce que les numéros de canal
de la carte SuperTrak correspondent aux numéros de support de lecteur du
boîtier. Pour plus d'informations, reportez-vous au Manuel d'utilisation du

Étape 4 : Création d'une unité logique
À l'aide de l'utilitaire BIOS SuperBuild intégré, vous allez maintenant créer une
unité logique avec les lecteurs reliés. Même si vous avez l'intention d'utiliser le
logiciel WebPAM pour gérer votre unité logique, vous pouvez créer votre
première unité logique à l'aide de l'utilitaire SuperBuild, comme décrit ici.
Pour une explication des concepts concernant l'unité logique, reportez-vous au
Chapitre 6 du Manuel d'utilisation du SuperTrak EX4350 qui figure sur le CD.

1. Démarrez votre système. Si c'est la première fois que vous le démarrez à
l'aide de la carte SuperTrak et des lecteurs installés, le BIOS intégré de
Promise affiche l'écran suivant :

4. Mettez en surbrillance Créer, puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Le premier écran de création de l'unité logique (1/2) s'affiche.
À l'aide de cet écran, sélectionnez les lecteurs physiques de votre unité
logique.
5. Appuyez sur les touches de direction pour mettre un lecteur physique en
surbrillance. Ensuite, appuyez sur la barre d'espacement pour sélectionner
le lecteur physique.
Un astérisque (*) apparaît à gauche de chaque lecteur physique sélectionné.
6. Lorsque tous les lecteurs physiques sont sélectionnés, mettez en
surbrillance Suivant, puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Le deuxième écran de création de l'unité logique (2/2) qui s'affiche propose
des paramètres d'unité logique par défaut.

7. Pour modifier le niveau de RAID, mettez en surbrillance Niveau de RAID,
puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Dans le menu contextuel, mettez en surbrillance le niveau de RAID
souhaité, puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Les niveaux de RAID disponibles dépendent du nombre de lecteurs
physiques sélectionnés pour cette unité logique.
8. Appuyez sur les touches de direction pour mettre en surbrillance le nom
d'une unité logique. Saisissez le nom de votre unité logique, puis appuyez
sur Entrée.
9. Vous pouvez ne pas utiliser toute la capacité du lecteur physique pour cette
unité logique en mettant en surbrillance Capacité et en appuyant sur Entrée.
Appuyez sur la touche Suppr ou Effacement arrière pour effacer la capacité
actuelle. Saisissez la nouvelle capacité en Mo à allouer à l'unité logique.
Plus tard, vous pourrez affecter la capacité restante à une deuxième unité
logique.
10. Pour modifier la taille de bande, mettez en surbrillance Taille de bande, puis
appuyez sur Entrée.
Sélectionnez la taille en mettant en surbrillance 32, 64 ou 128 Ko, puis
appuyez sur Entrée.
11. Pour modifier le Mode Initialisation, mettez en surbrillance Mode Init, puis
appuyez sur Entrée.
Mettez en surbrillance No (Non), Quick (Rapide) ou Full initialization
(Initialisation complète), puis appuyez sur Entrée.
12. Pour modifier la politique de cache en écriture, mettez en surbrillance Write
Cache Policy (Politique de cache en écriture), puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Mettez Write Through (Écriture immédiate) ou Write Back (Réécriture) en
surbrillance, puis appuyez sur Entrée.
13. Pour modifier la fonction Limite de giga-octets, mettez en surbrillance
Gigabyte Boundary (Limite de giga-octets), puis appuyez sur Entrée.
Mettez en surbrillance No (Non) ou Yes (Oui), puis appuyez sur Entrée.
14. Mettez en surbrillance Save (Enregistrer), puis appuyez sur Entrée.
L'écran Logical Drive Management (Gestion de l'unité logique) affiche la
nouvelle unité logique.
Si l'espace est suffisant sur le lecteur physique, vous pouvez maintenant
créer des unités logiques supplémentaires.

15. Appuyez sur F10 pour quitter l'utilitaire SuperBuild, puis appuyez sur Y (OUI)
pour confirmer et redémarrer l'ordinateur.

Vous avez créé avec succès une nouvelle unité logique RAID.
Étape 5 : Installation des pilotes logiciels
Les pilotes des systèmes d'exploitation Windows sont inclus sur le CD fourni
avec votre carte de contrôleur SuperTrak. Téléchargez la dernière version des
pilotes sur le site Internet Promise à l'adresse suivante :
Les systèmes Windows reconnaissent généralement le contrôleur SuperTrak,
vous invitent à insérer le CD ou la disquette et effectuent automatiquement
l'installation du pilote.
Si vous installez le contrôleur SuperTrak en même temps que votre système
d'exploitation ou que vous préférez suivre les instructions étape par étape,
reportez-vous au Chapitre 3 du Manuel d'utilisation du SuperTrak EX4350. Ce

La scheda Controller RAID SuperTrak EX4350 è una periferica
PCI Plug-n-Play (PnP). Non sono necessarie modifiche
all'installazione CMOS/BIOS della scheda madre per tipi di risorse
o unità nella maggiorparte delle applicazioni.
Punto 2: Installare la scheda SuperTrak EX4350
La scheda SuperTrak EX4350 si adatta a tutti gli slot PCI Express X4 a 3,3 volt
disponibili. È anche possibile collegare la scheda SuperTrak in uno slot PCI
Express X8 o X16.
1. Rimuovere il coperchio del sistema.
2. Rimuovere il coperchio interno dello slot di uno slot PCI Express disponibile

Importante
Se si desidera includere l'unità SATA avviabile corrente utilizzando
il sistema operativo Windows come parte di un'unità logica
Mirrored (RAID 1) avviabile sulla scheda SuperTrak, NON
connettere ancora l'unità disco al SuperTrak. È NECESSARIO
installare il software del driver Windows prima su questa unità,
mentre è ancora collegata al controller dell'unità disco esistente.
La scheda Controller RAID SuperTrak EX4350 supporta unità disco SATA a
1,5 Gb/s e 3,0 Gb/s. Per ottenere prestazioni ottimali, installare le unità disco
dello stesso modello e capacità. Le prestazioni corrispondenti delle unità
consentono all'unità logica di funzionare meglio come unità singola.

Collegare un cavo dati SATA a ciascuna unità disco. Collegare quindi le altre

7. Per modificare il livello RAID, evidenziare RAID Level (Livello RAID) e
premere Invio.

e premere Invio.
I livelli RAID disponibili dipendono dal numero di unità fisiche selezionate per
l'unità logica.
8. Premere i tasti di direzione per evidenziare Logical Drive Name (Nome unità
logica). Digitare un nome per l'unità logica e premere Invio.
9. Per utilizzare una capacità inferiore a quella totale dell'unità fisica per l'unità
logica, evidenziare Capacity (Capacità) e premere Invio.
Premere i tasti Canc o BACKSPACE per cancellare la capacità corrente.
Digitare la nuova capacità in MB da allocare all'unità logica.
Successivamente, è possibile assegnare la capacità inutilizzata ad un'unità
logica secondaria.
10. Per modificare le dimensioni degli stripe, evidenziare Stripe Size
(Dimensioni stripe) e premere Invio.
Evidenziare l'opzione di 32, 64 o 128 KB e premere Invio.
11. Per modificare la modalità di inizializzazione, evidenziare Init Mode
(Modalità Iniz) e premere Invio.

Dopo alcuni secondi, la finestra Terminal (Terminale) si chiude e la prima

La tarjeta controladora RAID SuperTrak EX4350 es un dispositivo

Si desea incluir su unidad inicializable SATA actual utilizando el
sistema operativo Windows como parte de una unidad lógica
inicializable duplicada (RAID 1) en su tarjeta SuperTrak, NO
conecte todavía la unidad de disco a la tarjeta SuperTrak. DEBE
instalar primero el software controlador de Windows en esta unidad
mientras sigue conectada a la controladora de la unidad de disco.
La tarjeta controladora RAID SuperTrak EX4350 es compatible con unidades de
disco de 1,5 Gb/s y de 3 Gb/s SATA. Para que el rendimiento sea óptimo, instale
unidades de disco del mismo modelo y capacidad. Un rendimiento equivalente de
las unidades permite que la unidad lógica funcione mejor como una única unidad.

Los niveles de RAID disponibles dependen del número de unidades físicas
que haya seleccionado para esta unidad lógica.
8. Pulse las teclas de flecha para resaltar Logical Drive Name (Nombre de
unidad lógica). Ingrese un nombre para su unidad lógica y pulse Intro.
9. Para utilizar una capacidad de unidad física menor a la total para esta
unidad lógica, seleccione Capacity (Capacidad) y pulse Intro.
Pulse las teclas Delete (Suprimir) o Backspace (Retroceso) para borrar la
capacidad actual. Escriba la nueva capacidad en MB que se va a asignar a
esta unidad lógica.
Posteriormente, podrá asignar la capacidad sin utilizar una segunda unidad
lógica.
10. Para cambiar el tamaño de banda, seleccione Stripe Size (Tamaño de
banda) y pulse Intro.
Seleccione su preferencia de 32, 64 ó 128 KB y pulse Intro.
11. Para cambiar el modo de inicialización, seleccione Init Mode (Modo de
inicialización) y pulse Intro.
Seleccione su preferencia, ya sea No, Quick o Full initialization (Sin
inicialización, Inicialización rápida o Inicialización completa) y pulse Intro.
12. Para cambiar la política de escritura de caché, seleccione Write Cache

Плата контроллера SuperTrak EX4350 RAID является

программе настройки CMOS/BIOS материнской платы.

Если текущий загрузочный диск SATA требуется сделать
частью зеркального логического диска (RAID 1) на плате
SuperTrak, используя операционную систему Windows, пока
НЕ ПОДКЛЮЧАЙТЕ диск к плате SuperTrak. Сначала на этот
диск, пока еще подключенный к текущему контроллеру
дисков, НЕОБХОДИМО установить программный драйвер
Windows.
Плата контроллера SuperTrak EX4350 RAID поддерживает диски SATA 1,5 Гб/
с и 3,0 Гб/с. Для достижения максимальной производительности
устанавливайте диски одной модели и одинаковой емкости. Если
установлены диски одинаковой производительности, производительность
логического диска повышается за счет того, что он функционирует как один
диск.

Подсоедините один кабель передачи данных SATA к каждому диску. Затем
подсоедините другие концы кабелей к разъемам на плате SuperTrak (см. рис.
выше).

Шаг 4. Создание логического диска
Для создания логического диска с использованием подключенных дисков
необходимо использовать встроенную утилиту SuperBuild BIOS. Даже если
для управления логическим диском планируется использовать программу
WebPAM, первый логический диск можно создать с помощью утилиты
SuperBuild, как это описано ниже.

BIOS Promise отобразит следующий экран

Management (Управление логическим диском) и нажмите клавишу
Enter.

4. Выделите пункт Create (Создать) и нажмите клавишу Enter. Отобразится
окно "Create Logical Drive Step 1/2" (Создание логического диска, шаг 1 из 2).
В этом окне выберите физические диски для создания логического диска.

Во всплывающем меню выделите требуемый уровень RAID и нажмите
клавишу Enter.
Число доступных уровней RAID зависит от количества физических
дисков, которое было указано для данного логического диска.
8. С помощью клавиш со стрелками выделите пункт Logical Drive Name
(Имя логического диска). Введите имя для логического диска и
нажмите клавишу Enter.
9. Чтобы выделить для логического диска более низкую емкость, чем у
физического диска, выделите пункт Capacity (Емкость) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
Нажмите клавишу Delete или Backspace для удаления текущего
значения емкости. Введите новое значение емкости в МБ, которую
требуется выделить для логического диска.
Позже можно будет назначить неиспользуемую емкость для второго
логического диска.
10. Для изменения размера полосы выделите пункт Stripe Size (Размер
полосы) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
Выделите требуемый размер: 32, 64 или 128 КБ и нажмите клавишу Enter.
11. Для изменения режима инициализации выделите пункт Init Mode
(Режим инициализации) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
Выделите требуемое значение: No (Нет), Quick (Быстрая) или Full
(Полная) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
12. Для изменения политики записи в кэш выделите пункт Write Cache
Policy (Политика записи в кэш) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
Выделите требуемое значение: Write Through (Сквозная запись) или
Write Back (Обратная запись) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
13. Для изменения значения функции округления емкости выделите пункт
Gigabyte Boundary (Округление емкости) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
Выделите требуемое значение: No (Нет) или Yes (Да) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
14. Выделите пункт Save (Сохранить) и нажмите клавишу Enter.
В окне "Logical Drive Management" (Управление логическим диском)
отображается созданный логический диск.
На этом этапе можно создать дополнительные логические диски, если
на физическом диске осталось свободное место.
15. Нажмите клавишу F10 для выхода из утилиты SuperBuild, затем
нажмите клавишу Y для подтверждения и перезагрузите компьютер.
Не нажимайте комбинацию Ctrl&Alt&Del. Не нажимайте клавишу Esc.
Логический диск RAID был успешно создан.

SuperTrak EX4350 RAID コントローラカードは、PCI プラグアンドプ

SuperTrak カードの起動可能なミラー（RAID 1）論理ドライブの一部
として、Windows オペレーティングシステムを使用する現在の起動可能
な SATA ドライブを組み込む場合、この時点では SuperTrak にディス

ライブエンクロージャを使用する場合は、SAF-TE 規格に適合している
ことを確認してください。それ以外のエンクロージャはサポートされて

各ディスクドライブにそれぞれ 1 本の SATA データケーブルを接続します。次に、ケー
ブルのもう一方の末端を SuperTrak カードのコネクタに接続します（上図参照）。
2. Y 型電源分配ケーブルを各ディスクドライブに接続します。
3. オプションとして、ケーブルを SuperTrak カードの LED ピンから（上記参照）エ
ンクロージャのアクティビティ LED に接続します。
Promise SuperSwap エンクロージャには、独自の内部 LED 接続があります。
SuperSwap は、上記に示される個々の LED コネクタを使用しません。SuperTrak
カードのチャネル番号とエンクロージャのドライブキャリア番号が一致するように、
SATA データケーブルを接続します。追加情報については『SuperSwap ユーザー

手順 4：論理ドライブの作成
オンボード SuperBuild BIOS ユーティリティを使用して、接続したドライブで論理ドラ
イブを作成します。WebPAM ソフトウェアを使用して論理ドライブを管理する場合で
も、最初の論理ドライブは以下に記載するように SuperBuild ユーティリティを使用して
作成することができます。

1. システムを起動します。SuperTrak カードとドライブを取り付けた後初めて起動し
た場合は、Promise オンボード BIOS の次の画面が表示されます。
2. Ctrl-S キーを押して、[SuperBuild Utility（SuperBuild ユーティリティ）] の
[Main Menu（メインメニュー）] を表示します。
[SuperBuild Utility（SuperBuild ユーティリティ）] で [Main Menu（メインメ
ニュー）] が表示されます。

4. [Create（作成）] をハイライト表示して、Enter を押します。

手順 4：論理ドライブの作成
ポップアップメニューで、選択する RAID レベルをハイライト表示して、Enter を
押します。
使用可能な RAID レベルは、この論理ドライブに選択した物理ドライブの数によっ
て異なります。
8. 矢印キーを押して、[Logical Drive Name（論理ドライブ名）] をハイライト表示し
ます。論理ドライブの名前を入力して、Enter を押します。
9. この論理ドライブにすべての物理ドライブ容量を使用しない場合は、[Capacity（容
量）] をハイライト表示して Enter を押します。
Delete キーまたは Backspace キーを押して、現在の容量を消去します。この論理
ドライブに割り当てる新規容量を MB の単位で入力します。
未使用の容量は、後で第 2 の論理ドライブに割り当てることができます。
10. ストライプサイズを変更するには、[Stripe Size（ストライプサイズ）] をハイライ
ト表示して Enter を押します。
[32 KB]、[64 KB]、または [128 KB] を選択してハイライト表示し、Enter を押しま
す。
11. 初期化モードを変更するには、[Init Mode（初期化モード）] をハイライト表示して
Enter を押します。
[No（なし）]、[Quick（高速）]、または [Full initialization（完全初期化）] を選択
してハイライト表示し、Enter を押します。
12. ライトキャッシュポリシーを変更するには、[Write Cache Policy（ライトキャッ
シュポリシー）] をハイライト表示して Enter を押します。
[Write Through（ライトスルー）] または [Write Back（ライトバック）] を選択し
てハイライト表示し、Enter を押します。
13. ギガバイト境界機能を変更するには、[Gigabyte Boundary（ギガバイト境界）] を
ハイライト表示して Enter を押します。
[No（なし）] または [Yes（あり）] を選択してハイライト表示し、Enter を押します。
14. [Save（保存）] をハイライト表示して、Enter を押します。
[Logical Drive Management（論理ドライブの管理）] 画面に新しい論理ドライブ
が表示されます。
使用可能な物理ドライブの空き容量があれば、この時点で別の論理ドライブを作成
できます。
15. F10 キーを押して SuperBuild ユーティリティを終了します。Y を押して、確定後
にコンピュータを再起動します。
Ctrl-Alt-Del キーは押さないでください。Esc キーも押さないでください。
新規の RAID 論理ドライブが正しく作成されます。

手順 5：ソフトウェアドライバのインストール
Windows オペレーティングシステム用ドライバは、SuperTrak コントローラカードに付
属する CD に含まれています。最新のドライバは、Promise のウェブサイト
www.promise.com/support からダウンロードしてください。

如果您希望包括您的目前可啟動 SATA 磁碟機使用 Windows 作業
系統如您的 SuperTrak 插卡上一個部份可啟動的鏡像 (RAID 1) 邏
輯磁碟機，請不要連接磁碟機至 SuperTrak。您必須在它仍然連接
到您現有的磁碟機控制器時，先行安裝 Windows 驅動程式軟體到
磁碟機上。
SuperTrak EX4350 RAID 控制器插卡支援 1.5-Gb/s 和 3.0-Gb/s SATA 磁碟機。
為了發揮最佳的效能，請安裝相同機型與容量的磁碟機。相稱的磁碟機有助於提
高邏輯磁碟機的效能，有如一台單一磁碟機。

Capacity ( 容量 )，然後按下 Enter。
按下刪除或後退按鍵來清除目前容量。鍵入新容量以 MB 為單位來分配此邏
輯磁碟機。
將來您可以將未使用的容量指定給第二個邏輯磁碟機。
10. 若想變更 Stripe Size ( 延展大小 )，請反白顯示 Stripe Size，然後按下
Enter。
反白顯示您對 32、64 或 128 KB 的選擇，然後按下 Enter。
