Adjusting the Power Cord Length
Coffeemaker Features
You can customize the length of the power cord up
to 2-1/2 feet so that it is the exact length you desire.

5) For Model UNT83: Open the reservoir lid and
fill the reservoir with cold water for the desired
cup level on the water window (up to 8 cups).

Cleaning the Coffeemaker Before First Use
Follow the steps under “Adding Water and Ground Coffee” and “Brewing Coffee Now,”
(Pages 8-9) but do not add ground coffee.
For Models UNT83, URT84, URT85, URT84, URT85,
URTX83, URTX84 and URTX85 only: Remove the
water reservoir by grasping the hand holds in the back
of the reservoir, and pulling up. Fill it with the desired
amount of cold water. Replace the reservoir on the
Coffeemaker, making sure that it is firmly attached to the
Coffeemaker body.
Selecting and Measuring Ground Coffee
For best results, use coffee ground for use with automatic drip coffeemakers.
The amounts shown below are suggested amounts.
Make sure the reservoir is squarely centered
on the Coffeemaker or the water may
overflow. An overflow may cause personal
injury or damage to property.

Do not remove the water reservoir at any
time during the brewing cycle.

• one cup = five ounces brewed coffee
6) Place the empty thermal carafe on the base.
To achieve the best performance, rinse the thermal carafe
with warm water. This will improve the heat retaining
capabilities of the thermal carafe. While brewing, the
Brew-Thru lid must be on the thermal carafe and the
POUR arrow of the lid must be aligned with the spout.
Otherwise, the carafe may overflow.
Adding Water and Ground Coffee
1) Open the brew basket lid and lift out the
removable filter insert.
Make sure the thermal carafe is squarely centered
on the base or the water and grounds will overflow
from the brew basket. An overflow may cause
personal injury or damage to property.
Make sure to remove the cardboard
insert before first-time use.
2) Place a MR. COFFEE® brand 8-12 cup
paper filter or a MR. COFFEE® permanent
gold-tone filter in the removable
filter insert.
To reduce the risk of damaging the thermal carafe
and/or the risk of personal injury, do not add cold
water to the thermal carafe if the thermal carafe is
already hot.
3) Add the desired amount of ground coffee
to the filter. Gently shake the filter insert
to level the ground coffee.
Brewing Coffee Now
For Models UNT83, URT84, URT85, URTX83, URTX84 and
URTX85 only:
4) Return the filter insert to the brew basket.
Be certain that the filter is centered in the
filter insert. Close the lid to the brew basket.
Press the BREW NOW button
The ON indicator will illuminate, indicating that the Coffeemaker
is on and the brew cycle will begin. When the coffee stops
flowing, the brew cycle is complete.
Do not brew coffee while the brew
basket lid is open.
The Coffeemaker will turn off automatically. The indicator light
will go out to let you know the brew cycle is complete.

3) While still pressing and holding the PRESS/HOLD
button, press and hold the MIN. button until
the clock displays the desired minute setting.
To pour coffee, make sure the POUR arrow of the
Brew-Thru lid is aligned with the spout. Do not turn
the arrow on the lid beyond the spout when pouring
to prevent the lid from falling off.
Once pouring is complete, be sure the Brew-Thru lid
is closed to seal in heat and flavor.
4) Release the PRESS/HOLD button.
5) Press the DELAY BREW button.
While the coffee is brewing, the Pause ‘n
Serve feature allows you to sneak a cup
of coffee from the thermal carafe.
Replace the thermal carafe on the base
within 30 seconds to prevent overflow
and possible injury.
The Delay Brew indicator will light. The delay
timer is set and the Coffeemaker will begin
brewing the coffee at the time you selected.
The thermal carafe is designed to keep
coffee hot and fresh up to 4 hours.
If you want your coffee to brew at the
same time the following day, simply add
the desired amount of ground coffee,
fill the water reservoir and press the
DELAY BREW button.
For Models URTX83, URTX84 and URTX85 only:
Press the BREW NOW button.
The ON•OFF indicator will light, indicating that
the Coffeemaker is on and the brew cycle will
begin. When the coffee stops flowing, the brew
cycle is complete, and you will hear 5 beep tones.
Cleaning the Coffeemaker
Between Brew Cycles
To turn off the Coffeemaker, press the BREW NOW
button again.
To clean up the used coffee grounds and filter:
Brewed coffee and grounds are both
very hot. Handle them with care to avoid
scalding injuries.
1) Discard the grounds and paper filter and rinse
the filter insert. You may also wash the filter
insert in the dishwasher (top rack dishwasher
safe only).
If the brew basket overflows or fails to
empty into the thermal carafe, do not open
the brew basket. Unplug the Coffeemaker
and wait for the contents to cool before
handling.
2) Use warm water to clean inside of thermal
carafe and air dry. The thermal carafe is NOT
dishwasher safe, except for the carafe lid.
Brewing Coffee Later
Do not rapidly fill the glass liner by
filling with water that is too hot or
too cold. Do not immerse in water.
Do not remove glass liner for cleaning
or any other purpose.
(Using the Delay Timer, Models URTX83, URTX84
and URTX85 only)
You must set the time for when you would like
the Coffeemaker to begin brewing your coffee.
Brewed coffee and grounds are both
very hot. Handle them with care to
avoid scalding injuries.
1) Press and hold the PRESS/HOLD button.
2) While still pressing and holding the PRESS/HOLD
button, press and hold the HOUR button until the
clock displays the hour you desire. The PM indicator
will light to indicate a PM time; if the PM indicator
is not lit, the time is AM.
Unplug the Coffeemaker’s power cord
if you are not using the Coffeemaker
or clock.

c. After 30 minutes, place the empty carafe back
on the base. Turn the Coffeemaker back on to
let all of the dissolved MR. COFFEE® Cleaner or
vinegar flow through.

Maintaining your Coffeemaker and its parts will help extend the life of the appliance.
Cleaning the Coffeemaker
Your Coffeemaker must be cleaned when you notice any of the follow conditions:

The entire cycle will take approximately
45 minutes to complete. During the
cleaning cycle your coffeemaker will:
These conditions are caused by lime or other mineral deposits.
How frequently you clean your Coffeemaker depends upon the hardness of your
tap water. The following table gives suggested cleaning intervals.
a. Slow brew approximately 3 cups
(24 fluid ounces) of cleaner.

b. Pause for 30 minutes to allow time
for the cleaning solution to dissolve
mineral buildup inside the coffeemaker.
During this time the clean light will
stay on to alert you that the cleaning
process is active.
To clean mineral deposits from your Coffeemaker:
1) Pour four cups of dissolved MR. COFFEE® Cleaner or undiluted
white household vinegar into the water reservoir.
2) Place a paper filter into the removable filter insert and close the brew basket lid.
3) Place the empty thermal carafe on the base.
c. After the pause, your coffeemaker
will sound three audible beeps
then restart and brew the remainder
of the cleaning solution.
Make sure to center the thermal
carafe squarely on the base to
avoid the possibility of overflow.
d. When complete, the clean light
will extinguish and your coffeemaker
will automatically turn off.
4) Start the cleaning cycle for models:
• UNT83, URT83, URT84 and URT85
2) Discard the cleaning solution and rinse
the decanter thoroughly with clean water.
a. Press the BREW NOW button.
3) Fill the water reservoir with clean, fresh water.
4) Place the empty decanter on the warming plate.
b. As soon as the brew cycle is complete
and the Coffeemaker turns off, pour
dissolved MR. COFFEE® Cleaner or
vinegar back into the reservoir and
allow to stand for 30 minutes while
the unit is “off.”

5) Remove and discard the filter used during
the clean cycle and replace it with a fresh
MR. COFFEE® paper filter. If a MR. COFFEE®
permanent filter was used during cleaning,
remove and rinse it thoroughly before
replacing it in the filter basket.

three quarters full of hot water and add a packet
of MR. COFFEE® Cleaner. Let the water stand
for 10 – 15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Sunbeam Products, Inc, or if in Canada, Sunbeam Corporation (Canada) Limited (collectively “Sunbeam”)

Filters
warrants that for a period of one year from the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects
in material and workmanship. Sunbeam, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any
component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be
made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available,
replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty.
For better tasting coffee, we recommend that you use MR. COFFEE® brand 8-12 cup
paper filter or a MR. COFFEE® brand permanent gold-tone filter. These filters are
available at most grocery stores.

Thermal Carafe
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is
not transferable. Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty
performance. Sunbeam dealers, service centers, or retail stores selling Sunbeam products do not
have the right to alter, modify or any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.
You can usually purchase a replacement thermal carafe from the store where you
purchased your Coffeemaker. If you are unable to find a replacement, please call
1-800 MR COFFEE (1-800-672-6333) in the U.S. and Canada for information on
where you can find a store that carries replacement thermal carafes.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following:
negligent use or misuse of the product, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the
operating instructions, disassembly, repair or alteration by anyone other than Sunbeam or an
authorized Sunbeam service center. Further, the warranty does not cover: Acts of God, such as fire,
flood, hurricanes and tornadoes.

What are the limits on Sunbeam’s Liability?
Sunbeam shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages caused by the breach
of any express, implied or statutory warranty or condition.

Instrucciones Especiales del Cordón Eléctrico
1) El aparato tiene un cordón eléctrico corto como medida de seguridad para
prevenir el riesgo de tropezar, tirar o enredarse con un cordón más largo.
2) Puede usar cables de extensión si se observan las precauciones adecuadas.
3) Si se usan los cables de extensión la capacidad nominal eléctrica del cable de
extensión debe ser de por lo menos 10 amperios y 120 voltios. Coloque el
cordón de extensión de manera que no cuelgue sobre el borde del mostrador
o mesa donde pueda tirarlo un niño o pueda tropezar con él accidentalmente.
Este aparato cuenta con una clavija polarizada (una pata es más ancha
que la otra). Para reducir el riesgo de descarga eléctrica, esta clavija
entra sólo de una manera en un enchufe polarizado. Si la clavija no
encaja en el enchufe simplemente colóquela al revés. Si aún así no
encaja llame a un electricista de su confianza. De ninguna manera intente
modificar esta medida de seguridad.

el depósito con agua fría al nivel de tazas deseado
indicado en la ventana de agua (hasta 8 tazas).

Limpieza de la Cafetera Antes de Usarla por Primera Vez
Siga los pasos de abajo “Agregando Agua y Café Molido” y “Preparación Inmediata
de Café” (las Páginas 24 – 25), pero no le agregue el café molido.
Para Modelos URT83, URT84, URT85, URTX83, URTX84
y URTX85 únicamente: Retire el depósito de agua
agarrándolo por la manija ubicada en la parte trasera del
depósito y halándolo hacia arriba. Llénelo con la cantidad
de agua fría deseada. Coloque el depósito en la cafetera,
asegurándose de que quede fijado firmemente en el cuerpo
de la cafetera.
Seleccionando y Midiendo el Café Molido
Para mejores resultados, use granos de café para cafeteras de goteo automático.
Las cantidades que se muestran a continuación son cantidades sugeridas.
Asegúrese de que el depósito quede centrado
correctamente en la cafetera, de lo contrario,
el agua se podrá desbordar. Un desbordamiento
podrá causar heridas corporales o daños
a la propiedad.

6) Coloque la jarra térmica vacía sobre la base.
Para obtener el mejor rendimiento, enjuague la jarra
térmica con agua tibia. Esto mejorará la capacidad
retentiva de calor de la jarra térmica. Mientras está
preparando el café, la tapa Brew-Thru (con agujero de
paso) deberá estar puesta en la jarra térmica y la flecha
de POUR (SERVIR) de la tapa deberá estar alineada con
el pico. De lo contrario, la jarra se podrá desbordar.
Agregando Agua y Café Molido
1) Abra la tapa de la canasta de preparación y
retire el inserto del filtro removible.
Asegúrese de retirar el inserto
de cartón antes de usar la cafetera
por primera vez.
Asegúrese de que la jarra térmica quede centrada
correctamente sobre la base o el agua y el café
molido se desbordarán de la canasta de preparación.
Un desbordamiento podrá causar heridas corporales
o daños a la propiedad.
2) Coloque un filtro de papel de 8 a 12 tazas
marca MR. COFFEE® o un filtro permanente
dorado en el inserto de filtro removible.
Para reducir el riesgo de dañar la jarra térmica y/o
el riesgo de heridas personales, no le adicione
agua fría a la jarra térmica si ya está caliente.
3) Agregue la cantidad deseada de café molido
en el filtro. Sacuda ligeramente el inserto
del filtro para nivelar el café molido.
Preparación Inmediata de Café
Para Modelos UNT83, URT84, URT85, URTX83, URTX84 y URTX85
únicamente:
4) Retorne el inserto del filtro a la canasta de
preparación. Asegúrese de que el filtro
quede centrado en el inserto del filtro.
Cierre la tapa de la canasta de preparación.
Oprima el botón de PREPARACIÓN INMEDIATA.
El indicador de ON (Prendida) se iluminará indicando que
la cafetera está prendida y que el ciclo de preparación
comenzará. Cuando el café pare de fluir, el ciclo de
preparación está terminado.
No prepare café mientras que la tapa de
la canasta de preparación esté abierta.
La cafetera se apagará automáticamente. La luz del indicador
se apagará indicándole que el ciclo de preparación está
terminado.

Para servir el café, asegúrese de que la flecha de POUR (SERVIR)
de la tapa Brew–Thru (con agujero de paso) esté alienada
con el pico. Con el fin de evitar que la tapa se caiga al servir,
no gire la flecha de la tapa más allá del pico.
3) Mientras que está oprimiendo y sosteniendo
el botón de PRESS/HOLD (OPRIMIR/SOSTENER),
oprima y sostenga el botón de MIN. (MINUTOS)
hasta que el reloj muestre los minutos deseados.
Una vez que haya servido, asegúrese de que la tapa
Brew–Thru (con agujero de paso) esté cerrada para
conservar el calor y el sabor.
4) Suelte el botón de PRESS/HOLD
(OPRIMIR/SOSTENER).
Mientras que el café se está preparando,
la característica de Pause ’n Serve (Pausa y Sirva)
permite que usted se sirva una taza de café de
la jarra térmica.
5) Oprima el botón de DELAY BREW
(PREPARACIÓN RETARDADA).
El indicador de preparación retardada se
prenderá. El temporizador de retardo quedó
ajustado y la cafetera comenzará a preparar
el café a la hora seleccionada.
Coloque la jarra térmica en la base
dentro de los 30 segundos para evitar
el desbordamiento y posibles heridas.
La jarra térmica fue diseñada para mantener
el café caliente y fresco hasta 4 horas.
Si usted desea preparar café a la misma
hora el día siguiente, simplemente
agregue la cantidad deseada de café
molido, llene el depósito de agua y
oprima el botón de DELAY BREW
(PREPARACIÓN RETARDADA).
Para Modelos URTX83, URTX84 y URTX85 únicamente:
Oprima el botón de BREW NOW
(PREPARACIÓN INMEDIATA).
El indicador de ON•OFF (Prendida/Apagada) se iluminará
indicando que la cafetera está prendida y que el ciclo de
preparación comenzará. Cuando el café deje de fluir, el
ciclo de preparación está terminado y usted oirá 5 biips.
Limpieza de la Cafetera Entre
Ciclos de Preparación
Apague la cafetera, oprima nuevamente el botón
de BREW NOW (PREPARACIÓN INMEDIATA).
Para Limpiar el Café Molido y el Filtro Usados:
1) Deseche el filtro de papel y el café molido y
enjuague el inserto del filtro. Usted también
puede lavar el inserto del filtro en la lavadora
de platos (únicamente seguro para lavaplatos
en la rejilla superior).
El café líquido y molido se encuentran ambos
muy calientes. Manipúlelos con mucho cuidado
para evitar quemaduras.
Si la canasta de preparación se desborda o falla
en desocuparse en la jarra térmica, no abra la
canasta de preparación. Desenchufe la cafetera
y espere hasta que el contenido se enfríe
antes de manipularlo.
2) Use agua tibia para limpiar el interior de la jarra
térmica y déjela secar al aire. La jarra térmica
NO ES segura para lavaplatos, excepto la tapa
de la jarra.
Preparación de Café Más Tarde
(Uso del temporizador de retardo, Modelos URTX83,
URTX84 y URTX85 únicamente)
No llene rápidamente el forro interior
de vidrio con agua demasiado caliente
o demasiado fría. No la sumerja en agua.
No remueva el forro interior de vidrio
para limpiarlo o para cualquier otro
propósito.
Usted deberá ajusta la hora en que usted quiere que
su cafetera comience a preparar su café.
1) Oprima y sostenga el botón de PRESS/HOLD
(OPRIMIR/SOSTENER).
El café líquido y molido se encuentran
ambos muy calientes. Manipúlelos con
mucho cuidado para evitar quemaduras.
2) Mientras que está oprimiendo y sosteniendo el botón
de PRESS/HOLD (OPRIMIR/SOSTENER), oprima y sostenga
el botón de HOUR (HORA) hasta que el reloj muestre
la hora deseada. El indicador de PM se prenderá para
indicar PM (pasado el meridiano); si el indicador de PM
no está prendido, la hora es AM (antes del meridiano).

Limpieza de la Cafetera
Su cafetera deberá ser limpiada cuando usted note cualquiera de las siguientes
condiciones:

1) Oprima el botón “Ciclo de Limpieza”. ¡ Para su
conveniencia, todo es automático! El ciclo completo
tardará aproximadamente 45 minutos. Durante
el ciclo de limpieza su cafetera hará los siguiente:
• la acción de bombeo se detiene antes de que toda el agua haya sido bombeada
del depósito de agua
Estas condiciones son causadas por cal u otros depósitos minerales.
a. Preparará lentamente 3 tazas (24 onzas líquidas)
aproximadamente de limpiador.
La frecuencia de limpieza depende de la dureza del agua que se usa para preparar café.

b. Hará una pausa de 30 minutos para permitir que
la solución limpiadora disuelva el acumulamiento
de minerales dentro de la cafetera. Durante este
tiempo, la luz de limpieza se mantendrá prendida
para indicarle que el proceso de limpieza está
activo.
Agua Dura
Para limpiar los depósitos minerales de su cafetera:
1) Vierta cuatro tazas de Limpiador MR. COFFEE® disuelto o de vinagre doméstico
blanco sin diluir en el depósito de agua.
c. Después de la pausa, su cafetera emitirá tres bips,
luego comenzará nuevamente a preparar el resto
de la solución de limpieza.
2) Coloque un filtro de papel en el inserto del filtro
removible y cierre la tapa de la canasta de preparación.
3) Coloque la jarra térmica vacía sobre la base

30 minutos con la unidad “apagada.”

5) Remueva y deshágase del filtro usado durante
el ciclo de limpieza y reemplácelo por un filtro de
papel nuevo MR. COFFEE®. Si un filtro permanente
MR. COFFEE® fue usado durante la limpieza,
remuévalo y enjuáguelo completamente antes
de colocarlo de nuevo en la canasta del filtro.

Partes de Repuesto
Sunbeam Products, Inc, o si en Canadá, Sunbeam Corporation (Canadá) Limited (colectivamente “Sunbeam”)
garantizan que este producto estará libre de defectos en material o mano de obra por un período de
un año a partir de la fecha de la compra. Sunbeam, a su elección, reparará o reemplazará este producto
o cualquier componente del producto que se encuentre defectuoso durante el período de garantía.
El reemplazo será efectuado por un producto o componente nuevo o remanufacturado. Si el producto
ya no está disponible, el reemplazo podrá efectuado con un producto similar de igual o mayor valor.

Filtros
Para un café o te con mejor sabor, recomendamos que utilice los filtros de papel
para preparar de 8 a 12 tazas, marca MR. COFFEE® o los filtros permanentes marca
MR. COFFEE®. Estos filtros están disponibles en casi todos los supermercados.

Jarras
Esta garantía es válida para el comprador original al detalle desde la fecha de compra original al detalle
