if not avoided, may result in property damage.
Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common
sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while tired or
under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE provides additional information that is useful
for proper use and maintenance of this tool. If a
NOTE is indicated make sure it is fully understood.
Before use, check for damaged or defective parts. Do not use the tool if any part
is damaged or defective. Carefully check the tool for damage. Check for breakage
of parts, damage to guards, switches, misalignment and seizure of moving parts, or
any other conditions that may affect the tool’s operation. Ensure that the tool will
operate properly and perform its intended function. Have any damaged or defective
parts repaired or replaced by an authorized repair agent. Never attempt to do any
repairs yourself. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it “ ON” or “ OFF” .
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
People with electronic devices, such as pacemakers, should consult their
physician(s) before using this product. Operation of electrical equipment in
close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of
the pacemaker.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safety
shoes, hard hat or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep long hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught
in moving parts.
Some dust created by grinding, drilling, sawing, sanding, and other
construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to
cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of
these chemicals are:
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool “ ON” .
A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result
in personal injury.
• Lead from lead-based paints,
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing
and balance enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
• Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and
arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type
of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated
area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

SAFETY RULES FOR RECIPROCATING SAW
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Always wear safety goggles or eye protection when using this tool. Use a dust
mask or respirator for applications which generate dust.
Do not abuse the power cord or use a damaged power cord.
Secure the material being worked on. Never hold it in your hand or across your
legs. Unstable support can cause loss of control and injury.
Never use the power cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet.
Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Replace damaged power cords immediately. Damaged power cords increase
the risk of electric shock.
When using the Reciprocating Saw, always maintain a firm grip on the tool with
both hands. Never put your hands or feet in the cutting area. Do not grasp the tool
or place your hands too close to the blade. Keep your hands well away from the
blade. Never reach underneath the tool while the blade is in motion. Do not use your
legs or feet to stabilize the work piece.
WORK AREA
Position yourself to avoid being caught between the tool or side handle and walls
or posts. Should the blade become bound or jammed in the work, it could result in
loss of control and injury.
Make sure that the work area is appropriate and safe to prevent accidents.
Always hold the tool by its insulated gripping surfaces when cutting in areas that
may contain hidden live wiring. If the blade makes contact with a live wire, the
metal parts of this tool may conduct enough electricity to seriously shock the user.
Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock
the operator. Do not cut or break into existing walls or other blind areas where
electrical wiring may exist. If this situation is unavoidable, disconnect all fuses or
circuit breakers feeding this worksite.
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered work benches and dark work
areas may cause accidents or injury.
Do not operate power tools in explosive areas, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
Keep bystanders, children and visitors away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from
debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or shields as needed.
Check to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the saw before
switching the tool “ ON” . Keys or wrenches can fly away at high velocity striking
you or a bystander.
Do not run the Reciprocating Saw while carrying it at your side. A moving blade
Do not use this tool in a damp or wet environment.
could cause serious personal injury.
Do not use the Reciprocating Saw if it has been damaged, left outdoors in the
rain, snow, wet or damp environments, or immersed in liquid.
TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not use dull or damaged blades.
Do not use the power tool if the power switch does not
turn it “ ON” or “ OFF” . Any tool that cannot be controlled with the power switch
is dangerous and must be replaced.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
When restarting a saw in the workpiece, check that teeth are not engaged in
the material.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Keep the handle of the Reciprocating Saw dry, clean, and free from oil and
grease.
Disconnect the power cord plug from the power source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories or storing the tool. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
Be extra careful when cutting in high or hard-to-reach locations. Be on the
lookout for hidden wires and falling debris.
Maintain labels and nameplates on the Reciprocating Saw. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Alltrade for a replacement.

Use clamps (not included) or other practical ways to secure and support the
work piece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body is
unstable and may lead to loss of control.

VARIABLE SPEED TRIGGER SWITCH AND LOCK-ON BUTTON
GENERAL CUTTING
Never tape the trigger switch down to provide continuous
high speed. The tool may fail under such conditions causing fire or personal
injury.
Always hold the saw in front of you and away from your body. Keep your
hands and feet well away from the work piece.
Never feed the blade into the work piece until the blade is at full speed. If
the blade is not at full speed, the saw may kick back causing serious
personal injury.
LOCK-ON BUTTON
Do not force the saw. Excessive force may result in a
broken blade. Use only enough pressure to keep the saw moving through the
work piece.
TRIGGER
THIS TOOL IS CONTROLLED
BY A TRIGGER SWITCH:
• Put on eye
protection.
• The speed of the Reciprocating
Saw depends on the amount of
pressure applied on the trigger.
The further the trigger is pressed,
the faster the tool will go.
• Clear the saw of any
foreign material.
• Make sure the work piece is held
securely in place. Hold smaller pieces
in a vise or attach to the workbench
with clamps.
• To maintain a certain speed, pull the “On/Off” trigger to turn the Reciprocating Saw
“ ON” and engage the lock-on button. To turn the Reciprocating Saw “ OFF” ,
release the trigger switch. The lock-on button will automatically reset.
• Mark out the line to be cut so it is easily visible.
• Pull the trigger to start the saw.

ACCESSORIES
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model.
Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on
another tool.
• Start inside the area to be
cut out.
• Depress the lock-on button
and press the trigger to start
the saw.
Always attach grounded (3-prong) extension cords to grounded (3-hole) outlets.
If you must use an extension cord, be sure that the gauge is large enough to carry
the amount of current necessary for your power tool. If not, your tool may
experience a loss of power, excessive voltage drop or overheating. The smaller the
gauge number, the heavier the cord (see table below).
• Set the shoe against the
work piece.
• When the blade reaches full
speed, slowly feed the blade
into the work piece.
