Using the freezer
Do not remove items from the freezer if your hands
are damp/wet, as this could cause skin abrasions or
“frost/freezer burns”.
Before use
Remove all securing tapes.Wash inside the appliance
with lukewarm water and bicarbonate of soda (5 ml
to 0.5 litre of water).
Important
Do not use soap or detergent as the smell
may linger. Dry thoroughly.
In the event of a power cut the food in the freezer
will not be affected if the power cut is short and if
the freezer is full. Do not open the door. Should the
food begin to thaw, it must be consumed quickly and
must not be re-frozen .
Quick-freezing
For quick-freezing, push the quick freeze switch (D).
The quick freeze control light (C) will then light up.
The quick-freezing function accelerates the freezing
of fresh food and, at the same time, protects
foodstuffs already stored from undesirable warming.
If this function is not ended manually, the appliance
switches off the quick-freezing function after 52
hours.The yellow light goes out.
Thawing
Frozen food, prior to being used, can be thawed in
the fridge or at room temperature depending on the
time available. Small food items may even be cooked
from frozen; in this case cooking will take longer.
Any frozen food which is allowed to thaw
accidentally should either be eaten as soon as
possible or thrown away.Alternatively, if the food is
uncooked and has not been completely defrosted it
can be cooked and then refrozen.
This function can be ended manually at any time by
pressing the quick freeze switch again. The yellow
light goes out.
Freezing fresh food
Meat, fish and fruit should be thawed in the
refrigerator compartment and small pieces of meat
can even be cooked while still frozen, but you must
ensure that it is thoroughly cooked through.
The 4-star compartment is suitable for long term
storage of commercially frozen food and for freezing
fresh food.
To freeze fresh foods it is not necessary to move
the thermostat knob from the normal setting. Push
the quick freeze switch at least 3 hours before
loading food.
Vegetables should be directly immersed in boiling
water; ready-cooked dishes can be placed directly in
the oven in their aluminium wrapping.
In any 24 hours you can freeze up to 4 kg. of fresh
food.
A microwave oven is particularly suitable for
thawing any type of frozen or deep-frozen food:
follow the oven instructions, particularly regarding
the placement of aluminium wrapping or containers
in the oven.
Place the food to be frozen in the lower of the
freezer compartment as this is the coldest part.
To guarantee a good operation of the appliance
during normal use, the drawers should not be
removed.
Defrosted cooked food must never be
refrozen.
Frozen food storage
Making ice cubes
The appliance is provided with one or more trays
for ice-cubes trays.
When first starting-up or after a period out of use,
before putting the products in the compartment let
the appliance run for at least two hours on the
coldest setting, then turn the thermostat knob to
the normal operating position.
Fill the tray(s) 3/4 full to give the ice space to
expand and place them in the freezer compartment.
To release the ice cubes simply give the tray a slight
twist.
Do not exceed the storage period indicated by the
manufacturer.
Do not use sharp or metallic instruments to remove
the trays from the freezer.
Finally, do not open the door frequently or leave it
open longer than is absolutely necessary.
Cold accumulators
2 cold accumulators are supplied in the freezer;
these increase the length of time for which food will
keep in the event of a power failure or breakdown.
Warning
Do not put carbonated liquids, (fizzy drinks etc.), in
the freezer compartment.
Ice lollies, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezer, can cause low temperature skin
burns.
They must be placed in the top drawer.

Using the refrigerator
The thermostat is valid for both freezer and
refrigerator compartments.
Fresh food refrigeration
To obtain the best performance, do not store warm
food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator; do
cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a strong
flavour.
Setting the temperature
The temperature inside the refrigerator is regulated
by the thermostat with 6 temperature positions and
an “OFF” (O) position.
Do not cover the shelves with any protective
material, such as paper, cardboard or plastic, which
may obstruct the air circulation through them.
Position 1 = minimum coldness
Position 6 = maximum coldness
To help you use your refrigerator correctly, here are
some more useful hints:
Turn the thermostat dial to the required position.
The intermediate position is usually the most
suitable (3-4).
Raw meat (beef, pork, lamb & wild fowl): wrap in
polythene bags and place on top of the salad
crispers.
The thermostat setting can vary as the temperature
inside the refrigeration compartment depends on
the following factors:
Meat can only be stored safely in this way for
one or two days at the most.
– room temperature
Fruit & vegetables: these should be thoroughly
cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crispers.
– how often the door is opened
– how much food is stored
– position of the appliance
Butter & cheese: these should be placed in special
airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or
polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible.
Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should
be stored in the bottle rack on the door.
Important
During prolonged periods of abnormally hot
weather, if the thermostat is set on too high a
number, the cooling system may operate
continuously and the fridge cooling plate may not
defrost.Turning the knob to a lower number will
cause the automatic defrosting to resume.
Normal Operating Sounds
You may hear faint gurgling or bubbling sounds
when the refrigerant is pumped through the coils
or tubing at the rear, to the cooling
plate/evaporator or to the fixed freezer shelves.
• When the compressor is on, the refrigerant is
being pumped round, and you will hear a whirring
sound or pulsating noise from the compressor.
• A thermostat controls the compressor, and you
will hear a faint ’click’ when the thermostat cuts
in and out.
Movable shelves
The walls of the refrigerator have runners so that
the shelves can be positioned as desired .
For better use of space, the front half-shelves can lie
over the rear ones.

Positioning the door shelves
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes,
the door shelves can be adjusted in height. To make
these adjustments proceed as follows:
Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the
arrows until it comes off, then reposition as
required.
P R X X X
Bottle holder
Place the bottles (with the opening facing front) in
the pre-positioned shelf.
If the shelf is positioned horizontally, place only
closed bottles.
This bottle holder shelf can be tilted in order to
store previously opened bottles.
To obtain this result, pull the shelf up so it can
rotate upwards and be placed on the next higher
level.
Humidity control
The glass shelf incorporates a device with slits
(adjustable by means of a sliding lever), which makes
it possible to regulate the temperature in the
vegetable drawer(s).
Close the slots to obtain a warmer temperature and
greater humidity.
Open the slots to obtain a cooler temperature and
less humidity.

SWITCH
The refrigerator compartment is equipped with a
special D.A.C.(Dynamic Air Cooling) fan which can
be turned on with the switch (fig. 1). The green light,
when on, means that the fan is working.
It is suggested that the fan (D.A.C.) be used when
the ambient temperature exceeds 25°C .
This device allows for rapid cooling of foods and a
more uniform temperature in the compartment.

Hints andTips
Try to avoid keeping the door open for long
periods, or opening the door too frequently as
warm air will enter the cabinet, and cause the
compressor to switch on unnecessarily often.
Food Storage
To obtain the best results from your appliance,
neither hot foods nor liquids which may
evaporate, should be placed in the larder
compartment.
• Ensure there are no obstructions preventing the
door from closing properly.
• Keep the time between buying chilled food and
placing it in your fridge as short as possible.
In the Event of a Power
Failure
If there is a power failure during the storage of
frozen foods, keep the door closed. If the

Should be refrigerated and used up quickly.
Cooked Dishes:
i.e. casseroles, should be refrigerated and used up.
Large Pieces of Meat:
Can be re-frozen providing there are ice crystals
remaining within them.
• The symbols on the drawers show different
types of frozen goods. The numbers indicate
storage times in months for the appropriate
types of frozen goods.Whether the upper or
lower value of the indicated storage time is valid
depends on the quality of the foods and pre-
treating before freezing.
Small Joints:
Should be cooked and then re-frozen as cooked
dishes.
Energy Saving Advice
• Do not install the cabinet close to sources of
heat, i.e. boiler or radiator.
Chicken:
• Locate the appliance in a cool well ventilated
room and make sure that the air openings of the
cabinet are not obstructed.
Should be cooked and re-frozen as a fresh dish.
• Avoid unnecessary frosting in the cabinet by
packing all foodstuffs into airtight packages
before placing them in the freezer.
• Always leave warm food to cool down to room
temperature before placing in the fridge or
freezer.
• Food which is to be frozen (when cool) should
be placed in the fridge before being transferred
to the freezer.
