1. W hen the “Add New Hardw are W izard” screen appears, click  
'Cancel.'  
2. Brow se to “D:\Driver\W 2KXP,” (w here “D” is the letter of your CD-  
ROM drive) and double-click 'setup' or 'setup.exe.' The correct  
setup file should be identified by a blue computer icon.  
3. After the driver installation is complete, shut dow n (pow er off) your  
computer completely, w ait 15-30 seconds and restart it.  
4. Refer to the included Modem Installation Checklist to verify the  
modem is installed correctly.  
W indow s XP  
1. W indow s XP w ill automatically install the drivers for a Lucent W in  
Modem. These drivers should be replaced w ith the drivers on the  
included CD for best results.  
2. To replace the drivers installed by W indow s XP, brow se to  
“D:\Driver\W 2KXP,” (w here “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive)  
and double-click “LTREMOVE.exe.” You w ill be prompted w hether  
or not you w ish to continue, click “Yes.”  
3. W hen the remove function is complete you w ill be prompted  
w hether or not you w ish to restart now , click “No.” (If you restart,  
W indow s w ill re-install a Lucent W in Modem and you w ill have to  
return to step 2.) Brow se to “D:\Driver\W 2KXP,” (w here “D” is the  
letter of your CD-ROM drive) and double-click ‘setup’ or ‘setup.exe.’

Linux  
1. For installation on a Linux-based OS, refer to the IC56A “Linux  
Installation Instructions.txt” file on the included driver CD-ROM.  
The file is located in the Driver/LINUX folder.  
2. If these instructions do not w ork for you, or you have a  
distribution of Linux not covered by these instructions, please  
refer to the Linux Installation Guide on our w eb site at  
w w w .stratitec.com/ic56a.  
3. You may also w ant to search the Internet for information on  
using a “Lucent/Agere” based modem w ith your distribution.

Additional Softw are  
Additional optional softw are, including the BVRP Fax/Voicemail  
application, can be found by brow sing the included driver CD-ROM.  
For guided installation and additional information, double-click  
“D:\setup.exe” (w here “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).  
To save dow nload time, a number of other popular applications are  
included on the CD-ROM in the “Goodies” folder. The installation  
or use of these programs is completely optional and they are  
provided w ithout support or w arranty of any kind.  
In order to use the call w aiting and caller ID features of this modem  
you must have the Modem-on-Hold applet installed on your  
computer. For your convenience, this applet is installed by default  
w ith the drivers for the modem. The applet w ill automatically start  
w hen W indow s loads. Note: Modem-on-Hold does not support  
W indow s NT or Linux at this time. The Modem-on-Hold function  
requires call w aiting and support from your Internet Service  
Provider.
