Advanced Communication Technology – Radio frequency

Sensor Control Mode – When set to Sensor Control auto mode,  
the sensor measures your indoor air quality and adjusts the fan speed  
automatically to provide optimum filtration. It also helps conserve  
energy by only operating the fan at higher speeds when needed.

The EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center has a programmable  
timer feature. You can program the air cleaner to turn on and off at  
your convenience. NOTE: The EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality  
Center must be used to turn the air cleaner on, set the operating  
speed, and turn air cleaner off in order for the timer to work.

To avoid fire and shock hazard, plug the air cleaner and  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center directly into 120V  
AC electrical outlets.  
If the filter is covered by a bag when shipped: remove plastic  
bag before use.  
Keep the cords out of heavy traffic area. To avoid fire hazard  
NEVER put cords under rugs, near heat registers, radiators,  
stoves or heaters.  
To protect against electrical hazards DO NOT immerse in  
water or other liquids. Do not use near water.  
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by  
or near children or disabled persons.  
Always unplug the air cleaner or EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air  
Quality Center before moving it, opening the grill, changing  
the filters, cleaning the IR Lens or whenever the appliances  
are not in use. Be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.

4. To program the timer press the “TIMER” and “SET” buttons  
at the same time.  
The length of the cord used on this product was selected to  
reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a  
longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary an approved extension  
cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord  
must be equal to or greater than the rating of the air purifier. Care  
must be taken to arrange the extension cord where it cannot be  
pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.

efficient guidelines set by the US EPA. The energy efficiency of the  
ENERGY STAR qualified model is measured based on a ratio  
between the model’s CADR for dust and the electrical energy it  
consumes, or CADR/ Watt.

PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS  
1. Carefully unpack your air cleaner. Select a firm level place  
where there are no obstructions to the air inlet or filtered air  
outlet. A good location in a room is approximately one foot  
away from the wall, in a central location of your home.  
2. Open the door of the air cleaner by carefully placing fingers in the  
indentation on the right side of the door and gently pull forward.  
3. The carbon filters, which are packed in a plastic bag in the  
box, should be removed from plastic bag and then placed on  
each of the HEPA filters. The plastic tabs on the HEPA filter  
will hold the carbon in place. (Figure 1)

"TIMER" button for 3 seconds.  
NOTE: If the air cleaner is turned on before timer mode begins,  
the unit will remain on and “TIMER OFF” will appear on the  
display. The air cleaner will still turn off as programmed.

Carbon Filter Indicator – When the  
carbon filter indicator light turns red it is  
time to change the carbon filters.  
Do not use outdoors.  
NOTE: The side with the soft gasket  
should face inward.  
Never block the air openings, or place on soft surface, such  
as bed or sofa, as this could cause the unit to tip over thus  
blocking the air intake opening.  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center should only be used  
in a room with temperatures between 40° F and 110° F  
The EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center serves as a command  
center for the air cleaner. It remotely operates the air cleaner by  
sending continuous signals from the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air  
Quality Center to the air cleaner. This one way communication  
can be overridden by operating the controls directly on the air  
cleaner. When using the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality  
Center, the yellow LED on the air cleaner will illuminate. When  
operating controls directly on the air cleaner, the Yellow LED light  
will turn off. To resume primary control from the EnviroCheckTM  
Wireless Air Quality Center, press the ”ON/OFF” or “MODE” button.  
The Yellow LED light on the air cleaner will again illuminate.

checked for particulate accumulation. When the filter life indicator  
light is red, it is time to change the HEPA filters.

DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or  
mechanical functions on these appliances. Doing so will void  
the warranty. The inside of these appliances contain no user  
serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by  
qualified personnel only.  
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, DO  
NOT use these appliances with any solid-state speed control  
device.  
Turning Alarm OFF  
1. When the alarm goes off, a rapid beeping will be heard.  
2. To deactivate the alarm press the “ALARM” and “SET” buttons at  
the same time. The bell in the right hand corner will disappear.  
3. The longer the alarm sounds the louder it gets.  
4. The alarm has a snooze feature. Press the “ALARM” button  
when the alarm is sounding and the alarm will turn off. After 10  
minutes, the alarm will sound again. The alarm will continue to go  
off every 10 minutes until the alarm mode is deactivated. See  
step 2 above.

EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality  
Center – Multifunctional providing an indoor air quality display,  
auto mode, programmable controls, remote operation of air  
cleaner as well as a clock and alarm mode.  
Air Quality Sensor – Uses an advanced infrared optical system to  
constantly detect tiny airborne particles in the air around the  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center, such as pollen and dust.  
It displays the air quality conditions using a series of LED lights  
glowing red when high levels of particles are present and green  
when air quality is improved.

SYNCRONIZING INSTRUCTIONS  
Operating Instructions  
1. Plug the air cleaner into a 120V AC electrical outlet. The air clean-  
er will begin to beep continuously until it is synchronized with the  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center.  
2. Plug the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center into a  
120V AC electrical outlet near the air cleaner. It will beep  
once. NOTE: EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center is  
designed to operate up to 30 feet from air cleaner.  
1. The air cleaner can be operated from either the control panel  
directly on the air cleaner or the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air  
Quality Center.  
2. To turn the air cleaner on, press the “ON/OFF” button on the  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center OR press the ( )  
on the air cleaner.

3. Select the desired operating speed. This Bionaire® Air Cleaner  
has four speed settings. You can select from <<HIGH>> ( ),  
<<MED>> ( ), <<LOW>> ( ) or <<SLEEP>> ( ) by  
pressing the “MODE” button on either the air cleaner control  
panel or the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center.  
4. The light on the control panel will illuminate letting you know the  
power is on and at what speed the air cleaner is operating.  
5. For optimum air filtration, it is recommended to operate the air  
cleaner continuously. Its rugged motor has been designed to  
provide many years of continuous use.  
For continuous use, it is recommended to operate the air cleaner on  
the LOW or MEDIUM setting. For quieter operation or use in a  
bedroom, select the LOW or ultra-low SLEEP setting. When high  
levels of air pollution are present, select the HIGH setting to quickly  
circulate and filter the room air.  
2. Remove each of the filters from the unit by pulling gently  
towards you.  
3. To replace the carbon filter, simply remove the old carbon filter  
and using the plastic tabs as a guideline (see Figure 1), insert  
a new carbon filter in its place after removing the plastic bag.  
4. To replace the HEPA filter, discard the old HEPA filters. DO  
NOT attempt to clean. Put the carbon filter back on the new  
HEPA filter. Insert the new HEPA filter into the unit, by sliding it  
on the hang tabs (see Figure 2).  
5. After replacing the filters, RESET the appropriate Filter Life  
Indicator by inserting a small object (such as a pin or paper  
clip) into the hole below the filter change light. The series of  
LED lights is the HEPA ( ) filter indicator and the red LED is  
the carbon ( ) filter light.

Manufacturer warrants for TWO (2) YEARS from the date or  
original purchase, to repair or, if repairs are not commercially  
applicable to replace without charge (parts and labor), any  
supplied or manufactured part of this air cleaner which, upon  
inspection by an authorized service center, proves to have failed  
in normal use due to defects in material or workmanship, or, at its  
option, to replace the unit. If the product can not be reasonably  
repaired, the consumer may elect a free replacement or refund.  
Operations under conditions other than those recommended or  
at voltages other than the voltage indicated on the unit, or any  
attempts by unauthorized personnel to service the unit or modify  
it, will render the guarantee void.  
Manufacturer shall not be liable for any personal injury, property  
damage or any incidental or consequential damages of any kind  
(including water damage), resulting from defects, malfunctions,  
misuse, improper installation or alteration of the product.

Air Cleaner Maintenance Instructions  
Turn off and unplug the unit before cleaning.  
1. The outside of the air cleaner can be cleaned with a soft,  
damp cloth.  
2. The filtered air outlet/top air vent can be cleaned of dust with  
a small, soft brush.  
3. You can remove the air inlet/front grill for cleaning by open the  
door of the air cleaner. Carefully placing fingers in the indentation  
on the right side of the door and gently pull forward. With  
door open to 90 degrees pull grill up and forward. Once  
removed front grill can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Do  
not place in dishwasher. Make sure the grill is completely dry  
before reinstalling. (Figure 3)

nightlight which automatically turns on as your room gets dark. To  
turn off this nightlight press the "+" and "-" buttons at the same

again. NOTE: When any button is pressed the backlight will  
come on for a few seconds. Once no buttons are pressed again  
for 5 seconds the light will go off.

Air Quality Sensor  
Pre-Filter Cleaning Instructions  
1. Every 2-3 weeks check the conditions of the washable foam  
pre-filter.  
2. Open the front door and remove the pre-filter frame to exam-  
ine the pre-filter. (see figure 3)  
3. If the pre-filter has a noticeable amount of dust, lint or particu-  
late accumulation, wash it by hand in warm soapy water. The  
pre-filter must be washed at least every 30 days or more  
often as necessary. If the pre-filter is worn or damaged  
replace it. DO NOT wash in an automatic washer. Gently hand  
wash only.  
4. After washing, rinse and dry the pre-filter thoroughly before  
replacing it into the air cleaner door. DO NOT dry the pre-filter  
in an automatic dryer. Hand dry only by dabbing gently with a  
hand dry cloth towel.  
Air Quality Sensor

Your Bionaire® Air Cleaner comes with an Air Quality Sensor which  
uses an advanced infrared optical system to constantly detect tiny  
particles in the air around the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality  
Center such as pollen and dust. It also displays the air quality even  
when the air cleaner is turned off, using a series of colored lights.  
Radio frequency technology sends continuous signals between air  
cleaner and the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality sensor and  
adjusts air cleaner to improve air quality wherever it is placed.  
Chances are there are low levels of  
airborne particles around the sensor.  
This should not be a concern.  
Air Quality Sensor Cleaning Instructions  
It is recommended that you clean the air quality sensor monthly to  
maintain accurate monitoring or particulate levels.  
1. The air quality sensor is located on the back  
side of the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality  
Center.

A Bionaire® customer service representative will help determine  
which is the best procedure in order for your air cleaner to be  
repaired.  
The air quality sensor uses a series of lights to indicate air  
quality conditions and particle levels. The lights range in color  
from green which indicates good air quality conditions or low  
levels of airborne particulate to red which shows poor air  
quality conditions or high levels of airborne particulate.  
2. Open the sensor door (Figure 5)  
3. Use a dry cotton swab to gently clean the

4. Securely close the sensor door. If it is not closed the sensor  
may not operate properly.

ence that may cause undesired operation of the device.  
Modifications not authorized by the manufacturer may void

The air quality sensor operates continuously when the  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center is plugged into a  
120V AC outlet, even when the air cleaner is turned off.

The HEPA Filter life indicator uses a

When the EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center is in the  
“Sensor Control” mode, it will automatically adjust the fan setting  
to the optimum speed based on the air quality conditions and  
particle levels in the air. As the particle concentration in the air  
rises, so does the speed. In sensor control mode, the unit will  
always run at a minimum of SLEEP speed even if the particle  
levels are low to maintain ideal conditions.

Select the desired operating speed by scrolling through the  
settings using the “MODE” button. You can select from “HI”,  
“MED, “LOW”, “SLEEP” or “Sensor Control”.  
3. Once in “Sensor Control” mode, the air cleaner speed will  
fluctuate depending on airborne particulate concentration.  
NOTE: The Sensor Control mode can not be controlled from the  
air cleaner control panel. It can only be controlled using the  
EnviroCheckTM Wireless Air Quality Center.  
FILTER REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS  
On average, HEPA filters need to be replaced every 12-18 months.  
Carbon filters need to be replaced every 3-6 months. Filter life will  
vary depending on air quality and usage.  
1. Turn off and unplug your air cleaner before attempting to  
replace the filters.
