Led PCB replacement:  
Three sc rews need to be removed from

hea d sc rewdriver (six sc rews in a ll).  
C a refully begin to remove the grill. Do  
not fully remove the grill a s the c a ble  
is still rmly a tta c hed to the led PC B  
a ssembly.

Led PCB replacement continued:  
Use the phillips hea d sc rewdriver to  
remove one sc rew nea r the c enter of  
the led PC B a ssembly.

C a refully remove the led PC B a ssembly  
from the ba c k side of the grill.

The ha rd pa rt is done, the rest is ea sy!  
Pla c e the new led PC B a ssembly (pa rt  
#0007334) where the old one wa s. Follow  
the sa me steps a s a bove, but ba c kwa rds  
6 to 1. Power up the SA1521z a nd the led  
should light up. C ongra tula tions, you just  
repla c ed a n led PC B a ssembly...now go  
pla y some shows!

Woofer replacement:  
Follow steps 1-4 of the led PC B

repla c ement instruc tions, a s the grill will  
need to be removed in order to a c c ess  
the woofer.  
Keep the eight sc rews a nd a t wa shers in

C a refully begin to remove the woofer.  
This woofer ha s a tendenc y to wa nt to  
“pop out,” so plea se be sure to hold  
the woofer in pla c e with your free ha nd  
while removing the sc rews with the other  
ha nd.  
Eight sc rews a nd wa shers need to be  
removed from the woofer using the 4mm  
a llen wrenc h.

Caution: The woofer is a pproxima tely  
18 pounds with the weight unevenly  
distributed.

The positive (solid yellow) a nd nega tive  
(yellow a nd bla c k) c a bles a re still  
a tta c hed to the woofer termina ls.

Push  
in  
This is wha t it looks like with the grill a nd  
woofer removed. Pla c e the new woofer  
(pa rt #0013918) where the old one wa s.  
Follow the sa me steps a s a bove, but  
ba c kwa rds 6 to 1, ma king sure to keep  
the led PC B a ssembly c a ble in front of  
the woofer. Power up the SA1521z a nd  
the new woofer should now be pumping  
out glorious lows. Awesome, you just  
repla c ed a 15” woofer!

Remove the c a bles from their termina ls  
simply by pushing down on the termina l  
a nd pulling out the c a ble.

the horn assembly (#’s 5-8)

High Frequency Driver replacement continued:  
hea dless sc rew  
nut

a t wa sher  
Four nuts a nd eight wa shers ma y be  
removed from the driver using the 10mm  
open end wrenc h OR the 13/32 inc h  
soc ket. Turn c ounter-c loc kwise to loosen  
a nd remove, c loc kwise to tighten. The  
other pa ir is in the sa me pla c e on the  
other side of the horn a ssembly. Notic e  
tha t the a t wa sher is on the bottom,  
followed by the loc king wa sher, a nd  
na lly the nut. Onc e they a re removed,  
the four hea dless sc rews need to be  
libera ted. Pliers ma y a id in the hea dless  
sc rew libera tion.

a ssembly (with the high frequenc y driver  
still a tta c hed). A a t hea d sc rewdriver  
ma y help in horn remova l if it is stic king to  
the c a binet.  
Caution: The horn weighs a bout 5  
pounds, a nd the weight is not evenly  
distributed.

Push down  
The positive (solid blue) a nd nega tive  
(blue a nd bla c k) c a bles a re still  
a tta c hed to the high frequenc y driver  
termina ls. Remove the c a bles from their  
termina ls simply by pushing down on the  
termina l a nd pulling out the c a ble.  
Keep the four nuts, four a t wa shers, a nd  
four loc king wa shers in a sa fe pla c e.

This is a stra ight down shot of the horn  
a ssembly. There a re two somewha t  
ova l-sha ped indents next to where the  
termina l ma rkings a re, a s shown a bove.  
This is how the new frequenc y driver  
needs to line up. Follow the sa me steps  
a s a bove, but ba c kwa rds 9 to 1. Power  
up the SA1521z a nd the new driver  
should now be pumping out those highs  
a ga in. Fa nta stic , you just repla c ed a  
high frequenc y driver!

The high frequenc y driver should ea sily  
lift right off of the horn a ssembly. Holding  
down the horn a ssembly with one ha nd  
while lifting up on the driver with the  
other ha nd ma y help.

Diaphragm replacement:  
At the present time (November 2006),  
dia phra gms a re not c urrently a va ila ble,  
so you will ha ve to repla c e the c omplete  
driver following the previous sec tion  
(pa ges 7-9). If you ha ve rec eived a  
dia phra gm, plea se follow the steps  
below.

driver repla c ement instruc tions, a s the  
horn will need to be removed in order to  
a c c ess the dia phra gm.  
Keep the four sc rews in a sa fe pla c e.

The horn is shown a bove with the high  
frequenc y driver c irc led. Four sc rews  
need to be removed from the driver  
using the 3mm a llen wrenc h.

They ma y not be broken down a ny  
further. Pla c e the new dia phra gm (pa rt  
# c oming soon) a nd pla te a ssembly  
where the old one wa s. Follow the sa me  
steps a s a bove, but ba c kwa rds 4 to  
1. Power up the SA1521z a nd the new  
dia phra gm should now be pumping  
out those highs a ga in. Sweet, you just  
repla c ed a dia phra gm!

Fourteen sc rews need to be removed  
from the a mplier a ssembly using the  
phillips hea d sc rewdriver. The a mplier  
a ssembly is c a pped by two c over pla tes  
(pa rt #33901380) outlined a bove.

The c overs ma y be worked loose by  
wedging a a t hea d sc rewdriver in  
between the c a binet a nd the c over, a s  
well a s the a mplier a ssembly a nd c over.  
Ma ke sure to get a round the entire c over  
pla te in order to be a ble to remove  
them.

The a mplier a ssembly is now rea dy to  
be sepa ra ted from the c a binet. Do not  
c ompletely ta ke the a mplier a ssembly  
off yet, a s ve c a bles need to be  
removed rst (a s shown a bove):  
(1) led PC B c a ble, (2) solid blue, (3) blue  
a nd bla c k, (4) yellow a nd bla c k, a nd (5)  
solid yellow. Do not forc e c a ble remova l  
or c onnec tion, a lthough needle-nose  
pliers ma y a id in loosening the c rimped  
c a bles.

Caution: The a mplier a ssembly is  
a pproxima tely 18 pounds, so plea se  
ma ke sure to gra sp it rmly.

Onc e the two c over pla tes a re removed,

two more sc rews need to be ta ken out in  
order to sepa ra te the a mplier a ssembly  
from the c a binet. Keep the two sc rews in  
a sa fe pla c e.

Now for the c loseups of the woofer a nd  
high frequenc y driver termina ls.

This is wha t it looks like with the c a bles

(1) led PC B c a ble, (2) solid blue, (3) blue  
a nd bla c k, (4) yellow a nd bla c k, a nd  
(5) solid yellow. Ma ke sure the c a bles a re  
rec onnec ted to the sa me termina ls they  
were removed from (but on the new  
a mplier a ssembly). See steps 6a a nd 6b  
below for c loseups of the photogra ph  
a bove.  
Pla c e the new a mplier a ssembly  
(pa rt #0013838-00) where the old one  
wa s. Follow the sa me steps a s a bove,  
but ba c kwa rds 6 to 1. Remove the  
seria l number from the fa ulty a mplier  
a ssembly (a s shown in pic ture a bove)  
a nd pla c e on the new a mplier  
a ssembly. Power up the SA1521z a nd  
relish in the fa c t tha t you just repla c ed  
a n a mplier a ssembly. Ha ts off to you for  
a job well done!

wire of the c a ble is c losest to the edge of  
the a mplier a ssembly. The c a ble only ts  
in one wa y.

Important: The fa ulty a mplier  
a ssembly must be returned to LOUD  
Tec hnologies. The a ddress should

be on the return shipping la bel tha t  
wa s provided with the new a mplier  
a ssembly. If not, the return a ddress is a t  
the top of this pa ge. Also, plea se write  
the order number a nd servic e request  
number (ex: 1046256-1203935) in big,  
bla c k, bold numbers on the outside of  
the box. This helps expedite the return.
