AM Antenna - A built-in ferrite rod antenna elim inates the need for an
outside antenna for AM reception - Rotating the unit slightly m ay im prove
reception of distant AM stations.
When power is interrupted or the AC line cord is unplugged, the battery
will power the clock radio to keep track of tim e and alarm settings
program m ed into m em ory. Should WAKE TIME occur during the power
interruption, the radio will operate or the alarm will sound if rem aining
battery power is adequate. Norm al operation will resum e after AC power
is restored. When on battery power, the digital display will not light.

This device generates and uses radio frequency (RF) energy, and if not
installed and used properly, this equipm ent m ay cause interference to
radio and television reception.
FM Antenna - The power cord acts as your FM antenna. The power cord
picks up m oderate to strong stations and elim inates the need for an
external antenna in m ost strong signal areas. Be sure the power cord is
stretched to its full length. Do not coil or bunch the cord together.
Changing position of the power cord m ay im prove reception.
If this equipm ent does cause interference to radio or television reception
(which you can determ ine by unplugging the unit), try to correct the
interference by one or m ore of the following m easures:

OPERATING THE RADIO
1. Plug the power cord into any 120V AC household outlet.
1. Unlatch and lift off battery com partm ent door (located on bottom of
radio).

Reorient the receiving antenna (that is, the antenna for the radio or
television that is “receiving” the interference).
2. Connect a 9-volt battery.

Move the unit away from the equipm ent that is receiving interference.
3. Insert battery in com partm ent and replace com partm ent door.
3. Slide the AM/FM BAND switch to desired broadcast band.
Plug the unit into a different wall outlet so that the unit and the
equipm ent receiving interference are on different branch circuits.
4. Turn TUNING dial to select a station and then turn the VOLUME
control to your preferred listening level.
If these m easures do not elim inate the interference, please consult your
dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for additional
suggestions. Also, the Federal Com m unications Com m ission has pre-
pared a helpful booklet, “How To Identify and Resolve Radio TV Interfer-
ence Problem s.” This booklet is available from the U.S. Governm ent
Printing Office, Washington, DC 20402. Please specify stock num ber 004-
000-00345-4 when ordering copies.
NOTE:
• Alkaline batteries are recommended. Carbon-zinc batteries may be
used but memory holding time will be substantially reduced. Memory
holding time for a fresh alkaline battery is approximately 8 hours (if
Wake System is not activated). To preserve battery life, the radio
should remain plugged into an AC outlet. As the battery gets older, its
voltage will drop and memory may be lost. Be sure to replace the
battery periodically.
• Be sure to remove battery when storing the unit. Battery will be
drained if left connected while the unit is unplugged, and a worn out
battery may leak chemicals which can badly damage the clock radio.
When discarding batteries, be sure to dispose of them in the proper
manner, according to your state and local regulations.
5. Press the OFF button to turn radio off.
SETTING THE TIME
Use the FAST FORWARD, FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to set the
correct tim e. The AM indicator to the left of the digital display will show
when the clock is reading AM tim e.

You can select two different wake tim es for m usic or alarm to turn on
autom atically. WAKE 1 and 2 controls are located on top of the unit

the product. We recom m end using the original carton and packing m aterials.
Rem ove cassette tapes or CDs from unit before shipping as these will not be
returned.
Include in the package evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print
your nam e and address and a description of the defect. Send standard UPS or its

If AC power is interrupted (disconnected) for a short period, both tim e
and alarm settings will change unless optional battery is installed. After
AC power is restored (reconnected) the digital display will blink to
indicate that power was interrupted and you m ust readjust the TIME and
ALARM settings.

FOR YOUR SAFETY
If a wake tim e is set, an indicator in the display lights and the unit turns
on in the chosen m ode (alarm or m usic) at the set tim e for approxim ately
one hour. To turn off the wake m ode, slide the switch to OFF or press the
OFF button.
The AC power plug is polarized (one blade is wider than the other) and
only fits into AC power outlets one way. If the plug won’t go into the
outlet com pletely, turn the plug over and try to insert it the other way. If it
still won’t fit, contact a qualified electrician to change the outlet, or use a
