| share.   capture.   USB Flash Drive   Quick Start Guide   Thank you for purchasing a Memorex USB Flash Drive. Your Flash   Drive is a multi-purpose and universally compatible Portable Storage   Device.   GETTING STARTED:   Step 1 – Check your Operating System (OS):   • For Windows® Me, Windows® 2000, and Windows® XP   There is no need to install any drivers! Go straight to Step 2- “Using   Your Flash Drive.”   • For Windows® 98SE (internet access required)   You need to install a USB 2.0 driver for the computer to recognize   the Flash Drive. See “Windows® 98SE Users” below.   • For Windows® NT—NT does not support USB. The Flash Drive is   not supported in this OS.   • For Windows 98® or older – Windows® operating systems prior to   Windows® 98SE do not have adequate USB support, and the   Flash Drive is therefore not supported for use by those operating   systems.   • For Apple Macintosh Mac OS 8.6 or higher (8.6 - 9.x USB 1.1 support only)   There is no need to install any drivers! Go straight to Step 2.   Windows® 98SE Users: (Internet access required @ www.memorex.com)   Note: Do not insert your USB Flash Drive into your USB port until you have successfully   completed steps a. through f. below.   a. Turn on your computer and wait for the Windows desktop to appear.   b. Close any applications you may have running.   c. Download the necessary driver by launching your internet browser   and going to the Memorex website at   • Select DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE, under General Support and   Software.   • Under "Hardware", Choose other USB Flash Drives.   • Under "Now select your Product" on the right side, select the   model you have.   • Select Download File once you have determined the appropriate   Driver.   • When the download dialogue box appears, click on SAVE.   • Choose or create a folder on your computer's desktop in which   you want to save the downloaded driver. You will install the driver   from this folder after it has been downloaded.   • Once the download is complete, click on CLOSE and exit the   website.   d. Go to the folder where you saved the zip file. Using the winzip   program, unzip the file into the same folder. If winzip is not installed,   been unzipped, double-click on the setup.exe application to begin the   installation.   • A Welcome dialogue box will pop up to give you the option of   installing the drivers. Click on NEXT.   • A Setup Status screen will appear confirming the installation   process has begun. Once completed, a "Restarting Windows"   dialogue box will appear.   • Choose "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click OK to   reboot your computer to complete the driver installation process.   e. Your Memorex USB Flash Drive is now ready to use. When you   insert the drive into an available USB port on your computer, your   system will identify the drive, locate the driver software, and complete   the driver installation process.   Step 2 – Using Your FlashDrive:   Your new Memorex USB Flash Drive is ready to use now. Follow the   simple steps below to begin using your new portable storage device:   a. Remove the protective snap-on cap and insert your new   Flash Drive into an available USB port on your computer.   Note: You may be required to wait a few minutes while your new Flash Drive is configuring   itself to your computer system. (Click "OK" or "Agree" to any driver prompts should they   appear).   b. Restart your computer now to ensure driver installation and   drive setup.   c. At the desktop screen double-click on “My Computer.” The   Flash Drive should appear as a “Removable Disk” icon. The actual   drive letter assigned to your Flash Drive will vary depending on how   many other drives are on your system.   You are ready to begin using your new Memorex USB Flash Drive.   Congratulations!   Important Note: Do not remove the USB Flash Drive while the LED is flashing!   Interrupting the data flow while the LED is flashing can potentially corrupt existing data   that is being transferred as well as other data stored on the drive. You may also potentially   lose access to your drive and your ability to retrieve any files stored on the USB Flash   Drive. Once the LED returns to an unblinking state, the data transfer operation is   complete; and it is safe to remove your drive.   Using the Write Protection Switch   Your USB Flash Drive is equipped with an external Write-Protection   switch. The switch is located on the side of the drive. Sliding the write   protection switch to the left or towards the “lock” icon position   , prevents any data writing or accidental erasure of critical files.
