About CDs
Handling CDs
• Don’t touch the recording surface of the CD.
CDs that can’t be used
• CDs that aren’t round can’t be used.
• CDs with coloring on the recording surface or that
are dirty can’t be used.
• This unit can only play the CDs with
• CD-R and CD-RW are easier to damage than a normal
music CD. Use a CD-R or a CD-RW after reading the
caution items on the package etc.
• Don’t stick tape etc. on the CD.
Also, don’t use a CD with tape stuck on it.

It may not correctly play discs which do not have the
mark.
• A CD-R or CD-RW that hasn’t been finalized can’t be
played. (For the finalization process refer to your CD-
R/CD-RW writing software, and your CD-R/CD-RW
recorder instruction manual.)
When using a new CD
If the CD center hole or outside rim has burrs, use it
after removing them with a ball pen etc.
CD accessories
Don’t use disc type accessories.
CD storage
• Don’t place them in direct sunlight (On the seat or
dashboard etc.) and where the temperature is high.
• Store CDs in their cases.
CD cleaning
Clean from the center of the disc and move outward.

Notes on playing MP3/WMA
Note, however, that the MP3/WMA recording media
and formats acceptable are limited. When writing MP3/
WMA, pay attention to the following restrictions.
Entering ID3 tag
The Displayable ID3 tag is ID3 version 1.x.
For the character code, refer to the List of Codes.
Acceptable media
The MP3/WMA recording media acceptable to this unit
are CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW.
When using CD-RW, do full format not quick format to
prevent malfunction.
Acceptable medium formats
The following formats are available for the media used
in this unit. The maximum number of characters used
for file and folder name including the delimiter (".") and
three-character extension are indicated in parentheses.
• ISO 9660 Level 1 (12 characters)
• ISO 9660 Level 2 (31 characters)
• Joliet (64 characters; Up to 32 characters are
displayed)
• Romeo (128 characters; Up to 64 characters are
displayed)
• Long file name (200 characters; Up to 64 characters
are displayed)

Entering file and folder names below.
The media reproducible on this unit has the following
limitations:
• Maximum number of directory levels: 8
• Maximum number of files per folder: 255
• Maximum number of folders: 50
•
Some characters cannot be displayed with a specific control
unit.
Entering file names
The code list characters are the only file names that
can be entered and displayed.
If you use any other character for entry, the file names
are not displayed correctly. They may neither be
displayed correctly depending on the CD writer used.
The unit recognizes and plays only those MP3/WMA
which have the MP3/WMA extension (.MP3/.WMA).
•
A file with a name entered with characters not on the code
list may not play correctly.
Writing files into a medium
When a medium containing MP3/WMA data is loaded,
the unit checks all the data on the medium. If the
medium contains a lot of folders or non-MP3/WMA
files, therefore, it takes a long time until the unit starts
playing MP3/WMA.
• Maximum number of files and folders: 512
MP3/WMA written in the formats other than the above
may not be successfully played and their file names or
folder names are not properly displayed.
In addition, it may take time for the unit to move to the
next MP3/WMA file or a File Search or Folder Search
may not be performed smoothly.
Settings for your MP3/WMA encoder and
CD writer
Do the following setting when compressing audio data
in MP3/WMA data with the MP3/WMA encoder.
• Transfer bit rate: MP3: 8 —320 kbps
WMA: 48 —192 kbps
• Sampling frequency
MP3: 8, 11.025, 12, 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, 48 kHz
WMA: 32, 44.1, 48 kHz
When you use your CD writer to record MP3/WMA
up to the maximum disc capacity, disable additional
writing. For recording on an empty disc up to the
maximum capacity at once, check Disc at Once.
Loading such a medium may produce loud noise to damage
the speakers.
•
Do no attempt to play a medium containing a non-MP3/
WMA file with the MP3/WMA extension.
The unit mistakes non-MP3/WMA files for MP3/WMA data as
long as they have the MP3/WMA extension.
Do not attempt to play a medium containing non MP3/
WMA.
•

Play mode may not be possible when portions of the
functions of Windows Media Player 9 or higher are used.

MP3/WMA playing order
When selected for play, Folder Search, or for File
Search, files and folders are accessed in the order in
which they were written by the CD writer.
Because of this, the order in which they are expected
to be played may not match the order in which they
are actually played. You may be able to set the order
in which MP3/WMA are to be played by writing them
onto a medium such as a CD-R with their file names
beginning with play sequence numbers such as "01" to
"99", depending on your CD writer.

Make sure the disc magazine is the right way up
with the "disc" logo on the top. Pull the tray out by
the projection.
Insert the magazine into the CD changer until it
clicks.

Tray
Close the CD changer door.
•
Use the CD changer with its door closed to prevent the
entry of dust into the changer.
Place the disc on the tray with the label facing
upwards. Insert the tray into the disc magazine until
it locks. Check that the discs and trays are inserted
properly. The discs are numbered from the bottom
from 1 to 10.

Magazine ejection
"0" (EJECT)
•
Take care to insert trays into the correct grooves in the
disc magazine and to insert discs properly into the tray
grooves. Otherwise malfunction may occur or the disc
may be damaged.
•

Insert all trays even when some of them do not carry
discs. Otherwire malfunction or operation failure may
occur.
8-cm discs cannot be used. If an 8-cm disc adapter is
used, the disc cannot be ejected.

Open the CD changer door, and press the
"0"(EJECT) button.

Be sure to open the door completely before pressing the
"0"(EJECT) button. If the door is not completely open,
the magazine may hit the door and cause damage of
malfunction.

Operations
• Some functions are disabled depending on control
units to be connected.
Fast Forwarding and Reversing
For the operation method refer to Instruction
Manual of Control unit.
• With some video CD’s, the track number may differ
from the jacket display, or may differ from the track
number display on the menu screen.
Track/File Search
• Depending on the disc, unwanted noise may be
present in the sound.
Searching for a song on the disc or in the MP3/WMA
folder.
Press the [4] or [¢] button.

A disc containing Video CD files can also be played back.
The Video CD is called the VCD in this manual.
Data is not displayed and not played back if it is recorded
in the VCD title menu area for Playback Control.
You cannot use the PBC (Playback Control) function even
if the media having the PBC function is played back by
this system.
Disc Search (Album Search)
Selecting the disc you want to hear.
Press the [DISC–]/[AM] or [DISC+]/[FM] button.

A Copy Controlled CD may not be played back normally.

Press the [SRC] button.
Select the display for the CD changer.

Pause and play
Press the [38] button.
Each time the button is pressed it pauses and plays.

Direct Track Search is enabled for up to 99.
Function of MP3/WMA with remote

Performance Time is only time display in control units.
File No. may not be shown in control units if the number
is 100 or 200.
Direct Folder Search
1 Enter Folder Search mode
Example: "D01 T- ", "D01 T-00"
Only two digits of File No. are displayed on some control
units.

Press the [38] button.
2 Enter the folder number
Press the number buttons on the remote.
For example, "61" may be displayed for the 161st. track.
3 Do Folder Search
Press the [DISC–]/[AM] or [DISC+]/[FM] button.
Text Display
The Control Unit with the Text Support function can
display both the file name and title of ID3 tag.
Canceling Direct Folder Search
Press the [38] button.
For display switching details, see the Operation
Manual of your Control Unit.
When you select the Track title, its file name and
title (ID3 tag or WMA tag) is displayed.
When you select the Disc title, message
“UNSUPPORTED TITLE” is shown.

Audio output select
Selecting the folder you want to listen to.
You can switch the audio output to STEREO, Left or
Right.
1 Enter Folder Search mode
Press the [38] button.
Press the [SCAN]/[SCN] button.
Setting
The stereo sound is output.
Outputs the Left channel sound to the right and left speakers.
Outputs the Right channel sound to the right and left speakers.

Folder Search mode.
Message “FOLDER SEARCH MODE” is shown during Track
title display.
2 Select the folder

If a disc containing the mixed Video CD and CD-DA
signals is played, the Audio output select function is
cancelled when the CD-DA part is played back.
Press the [DISC+]/[FM] or [DISC–]/[AM] button.
With the [DISC–]/[AM] button you move to the
previous folder, and with the [DISC+]/[FM] button to
the next folder.
Random Play
3 Decide the folder to play
Play all the songs on the disc or MP3/WMA folder in
random order.
Press the [38] button.
The Folder Search mode releases, and the MP3/
WMA in the folder being displayed is played.

Manual of Control unit.

See 'Notes on playing MP3/WMA' (page 4) for details of
the search action in the Folder search mode.
You cannot use the folder search function on a control
unit that cannot perform remote control operation.

Random selection within a folder is enabled in MP3/
WMA, but random selection in the entire disk is disabled.
Magazine Random Play is disabled in this unit.
Track/File/Disc/Folder Repeat
Disc Naming (DNPS)
Replaying the song, disc in the Disc changer or MP3/
WMA folder you’re listening to.
For the operation method refer to Instruction
Manual of Control unit.
Press the [REP] button.
Each time the button is pressed the Repeat Play
switches as shown below.

The disc name preset function can register names of
up to 100 discs using up to 12 characters for each disc
name.
In CD source
The availability of this function as well as the number
of discs which can be registered using this function
and the number of usable characters may be variable
depending on the control unit in use.
In this unit, up to 100 DNPSs and CDs in total can be
registered into a disc that contains MP3/WMA.

Removing the transportation screws
Remove all 3 transportation screws for protecting the internal mechanism before
you start to install the unit.
•
After removing the transport screw, retain it carefully and attach it again before
transporting the unit again.

• The angle adjustment switches on the both side of the

unit are to be set according to the angle of installation
of the CD auto changer. Set both of the two switches
to the same position. If the switches are not set
properly, sound skip or other malfunction may occur.

Use the holes marked to install the unit.

Do not tighten the screw B too securely at the time of installation, but tighten it securely after having fixed the bracket A.

Do not connect the changer control cable while the control unit is turned ON.
Be sure to press the reset button after installation.
Do not install an antenna of radio equipment or distribute the antenna cable near the
changer output cable, for this could cause malfunction with this unit.
The picture format selector switch must be set to the format of the connected monitor.
Set the KDC-CMP21V’s picture format selector switch to "PAL" when a PAL monitor is connected, to "NTSC"
when an NTSC monitor is connected.
Use video CDs of the same format as the format to which the KDC-CMP21V is set.

No picture will appear if the KDC-CMP21V’s video output format is not the same as the monitor’s picture format.
The top and bottom of the picture may be cut off or a black stripe may appear if the video CD’s format is different from the
KDC-CMP21V’s video output format.

Troubleshooting Guide
What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit
may just be the result of slight misoperation or
miswiring. Before calling service, first check the
following table for possible problems.
? The songs in the selected folder aren’t played in
Folder Search mode.
There are no MP3/WMA in the selected folder.
Make sure there’s recorded content in the MP3/
WMA media.
? Sound skips due to vibration.
? The MP3/WMA track search takes time.
Many tracks are recorded on the media.
The unit is mounted at a slant.
Mount the unit so that is level.
Changer unit is mounted in an unstable place.
Mount the unit in a stable place.
The angle adjustment switches are set improperly.
When the media directory is complex, the track
search can take time.
? The MP3/WMA track time isn’t displayed correctly.

Set the angle adjustment switches to the correct
positions.
There are times when it isn’t displayed correctly
according to the MP3/WMA recording conditions.
? Cannot play an MP3/WMA.
Not conforming to ISO 9660 Level 1/2, Joliet, and

When removing the CD changer, be sure to first eject
a magazine then unplug the changer cord. Do not
forget to attach the transportation screws before
transporting the CD changer.
The CD changer may be damaged during
transport if a magazine or CD is left inside it or the
transportation screws are not attached.
Use a medium conforming to ISO 9660 Level 1/2,
Joliet, and Romeo.
The MP3/WMA has no or invalid track name
extension.
Add the ".MP3"/".WMA" extension to the MP3/
WMA track name.
The media is scratched or dirty.
Clean the media.
? Noise or no sound generated when an MP3/WMA is

為防止火災以及避免人身傷害，請遵守下列注
意事項：
•如果本裝置看來不能正確動作，請首先按下復位
按鈕。如果故障仍然存在，請與貴地經銷商商量。
•為避免短路，檢查金屬物件 ( 硬幣、工具等 ) 有
無遺忘在裝置內。

透鏡灰霧
在寒冷天氣，當接通汽車的電源後，本裝置內部及
鐳射唱片上會有灰霧 ( 水滴 ) 現像出現。如遇到此
種情況，鐳射唱片便不能播放。取出唱片時，灰
霧將會消失。如果過數小時後不能恢復正常，請與
Kenwood 經銷商商量。
2 注意
為維持本裝置正常的動作，應遵守下列事項：
•請勿打開頂部或底部蓋。
•本裝置請勿安裝在曝露於直射陽光、高溫或高濕、
水可能飛濺的或有灰塵的地方。
防熱
•本裝置請勿安裝在多塵的地方。如果在多塵的地
方安裝本裝置，灰塵會集聚在裝置內部，可能會
損壞裝置。
在炎熱天氣，當汽車關閉門窗停放在直射陽光之下
時，車內溫度會上昇到 60℃以上。本裝置的保護電
路將會顯示信息“HOLD”，防止唱機動作。這時，
只須打開窗戶或啟動空調機。“HOLD”信息一消失，
唱機將會正常動作。
•在汽車內鑽孔來固定托架時，注意不要損傷
位於相反面的燃油箱、連接制動器的管道、電線
束等。
•如果本裝置安裝在揚聲器附近，揚聲器的振動可
能會造成聲音跳動。請使本裝置儘可能遠離揚聲
器。
裝置清潔方法
如果前面板污髒，在關掉電源狀態下用硅清潔布或
軟乾布擦拭。
重要情報
本裝置不能與 1997 年以前製造和銷售的控制裝置
相連接。

關於播放 MP3/WMA 的注意事項

時，請按照以下設定。
此外，當本機移動至下一個 MP3/WMA 檔案時，可
能需要花費一些時間，或者檔案搜索以及檔案夾搜
索可能無法順利完成。
•傳送位元率為 MP3：8 —320 kbps
WMA：48 —192 kbps
•取樣頻率
MP3：8, 11.025, 12, 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, 48 kHz
WMA：32, 44.1, 48 kHz
播放這種媒體可能產生巨大噪音損壞揚聲器。
• 請不要試圖以附加 MP3/WMA 擴展名的方法播放非
MP3/WMA 檔案。
如 果 附 加 了 MP3/WMA 擴 展 名， 本 機 將 對 於 非
MP3/WMA 檔案錯誤地識別為 MP3/WMA 資料。
• 不得試圖播放含有非 MP3/WMA 檔案的媒體。
當使用 CD 記錄器記錄 MP3/WMA 至最大光盤容量
時，請進行禁止追加的設定。當對空光盤一次記錄

快進和快退
•有的 VCD 的音軌號可能不同於包裝上的說明，或
不同於選單畫面上的顯示。

•有些 CD 播放時，聲音中可能會出現噪聲。
音軌 / 檔案搜索
． 也可以播放含有影像 CD 檔案的光盤。在本說明
書中將影像 CD 稱為 VCD。
選擇需要播放的歌曲。
在光盤或者 MP3/WMA 檔案夾中選擇歌曲。
． 不能播放（顯示／播放）記錄在播放控制用 VCD
標題選單上的資料。
按下 [4] 或者 [¢] 按鈕。
． 即使使用本機播放具備 PBC (Playback Control) 功
能的媒體，也無法使用 PBC 功能。
． 有時可能無法正確播放防複製 CD。
光盤搜索（歌曲集搜索）
選擇需要播放的光盤。
按下 [DISC-]/[AM] 或者 [DISC+]/[FM] 按鈕。
播放 CD 和 MP3/WMA

透镜灰雾
在寒冷天气，当接通汽车的电源后，本装置内部
及镭射唱片上会有灰雾 ( 水滴 ) 现像出现。如遇到
此种情况，镭射唱片便不能播放。取出唱片时，灰
雾将会消失。如果过数小时后不能恢复正常，请与
Kenwood 经销商商量。
2 注意
为维持本装置正常的动作，应遵守下列事项：
・请勿打开顶部或底部盖。
・本装置请勿安装在曝露于直射阳光、高温或高湿、
水可能飞溅的或有灰尘的地方。
防热
・本装置请勿安装在多尘的地方。如果在多尘的地
方安装本装置，灰尘会集聚在装置内部，可能会
损坏装置。
在炎热天气，当汽车关闭门窗停放在直射阳光之
下时，车内温度会上升到 60℃以上。本装置的保
护电路将会显示信息“HOLD”，防止唱机动作。
这时，只须打开窗户或启动空调机。“HOLD”信
息一消失，唱机将会正常动作。
・在汽车内钻孔来固定托架时，注意不要损伤
位于相反面的燃油箱、连接制动器的管道、电线
束等。
・如果本装置安装在扬声器附近，扬声器的振动可

但是可以使用的记录 MP3/WMA 文件的媒体以及
格式具有若干限制。记录 MP3/WMA 文件时，请
注意以下事项。
输入 ID3 标签
可显示的 ID3 标签为 ID3 的版本 1.x.。有关字符
代码，请参照代码表。
可以使用的媒体
本机可以使用的记录 MP3/WMA 文件的媒体为
CD-ROM、CD-R 以及 CD-RW。
使用 CD-RW 时，请采用全格式化而不是快速格式
化，避免发生故障。
可以使用的媒体格式
本机可以使用以下媒体格式。用于文件和文件夹名
称的最多字符数量（包括定义符 "." 和 3 个扩展名
字符）标明在括号中。
・ISO 9660 1 级（12 字符）
・ISO 9660 2 级（31 字符）
・ 具有无法使用控制装置显示的文字。
・Joliet（64 字符；最多可显示 32 个字符）
・Romeo（128 字符；最多可显示 64 个字符）
・ 长文件名称（255 字符；最多可显示 64 个字符） 输入文件名称
长文件名称格式允许显示最多达 200 个字符。有关
可显示字符一览表，请参照记录软件使用说明书以
及以下的 ' 输入文件名称和文件夹名称 ' 部分。
可以输入和显示的文件名称仅限代码表中的字符。
如果输入了其他字符，文件名称将无法正确显示。

本机可以重新制作的媒体具有下列限制：
・目录的最多阶层数量：8
本机仅能够识别和播放具备 MP3/WMA 扩展名
（.MP3/.WMA）的 MP3/WMA 文件。
・每个文件夹的最多文件数量：255
・文件夹的最多数量：50
・文件和文件夹的最多合计数量：512
・ 对于使用代码表以外的字符输入名称的文件，有时可能
无法正常播放。
使用除了上述以外的格式进行 MP3/WMA 记录可
能无法正常播放，并且其文件名称或者文件夹名称
无法正确显示。
向媒体记录文件
放入了记录有 MP3/WMA 资料的媒体时，本机将
检查该媒体内的所有文件。因此，如果该媒体含有
较多的文件夹或者非 MP3/WMA 文件，到开始播
放 MP3/WMA 为止将花费较长的时间。

MP3/WMA 的播放顺序
当选择进行播放、文件夹搜索、或者文件搜索时，
文件和文件夹按照由 CD 记录器记录的顺序存取。

诸如 CD-R 的媒体使用以类似 "01" 至 "99" 的播
放顺序号码开始的文件名称，或许能够设定播放
MP3/WMA 的顺序。

镭射唱片在装入托盘时标签面要朝上。将托盘
插入唱片匣，直至锁定为止。最后应确认唱片和
托盘是否确实装入。唱片号码从底面往上表示为

・ 如托盘隔层插入在唱片匣中或唱片没有确实放在
托盘上时，会成为引起机器故障或唱片受损的原

・ 禁止使用 8cm 唱片。如果使用 8cm 唱片附加器，
该唱片便不能被排除。

处于全开状态。

操作方法
・根据所连接的控制装置，某些功能被关闭。
快进和快退
・有的 VCD 的音轨号可能不同于包装上的说明，
或不同于选单画面上的显示。
关于操作方法，请参照控制装置的使用说明书。
・有些 CD 播放时，声音中可能会出现噪声。
音轨 / 文件搜索
・ 也可以播放含有影像 CD 文件的光盘。在本说明
书中将影像 CD 称为 VCD。
选择需要播放的歌曲。
在光盘或者 MP3/WMA 文件夹中选择歌曲。
按下 [4] 或者 [¢] 按钮。
・ 不能播放（显示／播放）记录在播放控制用 VCD
标题选单上的资料。
・ 即使使用本机播放具备 PBC (Playback Control)
功能的媒体，也无法使用 PBC 功能。
・ 有时可能无法正确播放防复制 CD。
光盘搜索（歌曲集搜索）
选择需要播放的光盘。
播放 CD 和 MP3/WMA
按下 [DISC-]/[AM] 或者 [DISC+]/[FM] 按钮。
按下 [SRC] 按钮。
选择 CD 换片机的显示。
遥控器的功能
直接音轨 / 光盘（歌曲集）搜索
暂停和播放
按下 [38] 按钮。
每次按下按钮，CD 切换成为暂停或者播放。
关于操作方法，请参照控制装置的使用说明书。
・ 直接音轨搜索功能能够搜寻直到 99。
・ 播放时间是控制装置唯一的时间显示。
・ 如果号码为 100 或者 200，根据所连接的不同控
制装置，文件 No. 可能无法显示。
带遥控器的 MP3/WMA 的功能
直接文件夹搜索
例如：“D01 T-”、“D01 T-00”
・ 对于某些控制装置，祗能够显示两位文件号码。
例如，对于第 161 音轨可能显示为“61”。
1 进入文件夹搜索模式
按下 [38] 按钮。

按下遥控器上的号码按钮。
作为可兼容文本的控制装置，可以显示文件名称和
ID3 标签的标题。

按下 [38] 按钮。
选择了音轨标题后，显示文件名称和标题 (ID3

TITLE（不兼容的标题）”。

可以将音响输出切换成为立体声、左侧或者右侧。
按下 [SCAN/SCN] 按钮。
1 进入文件夹搜索模式

输出立体声音响。
将左声道的音响从右侧和左侧扬声器输出。
将右声道的音响从右侧和左侧扬声器输出。
・ 在文件夹搜索模式下，文件号码显示变成为文件
夹号码显示。
・ 显示音轨标题时，显示 “FOLDER SEARCH
MODE”（文件夹搜索模式）。
・ 如果播放的光盘包含 VCD 和 CD-DA 的混合信
号，则当播放 CD-DA 部分时，音频输出选择功
能将被取消。
2 选择文件夹
按下 [DISC+]/[FM] 或 [DISC-]/[AM] 按钮。
使用 [DISC-]/[AM] 可移动到前一个文件夹，使
用 [DISC+]/[FM] 按钮可移动到下一个文件夹。
随机播放
3 决定播放的文件夹
按照随机的顺序，播放光盘或者 MP3/WMA 文件
夹中的所有歌曲。
按下 [38] 按钮。
文件夹搜索模式解除，播放在播放的文件夹中的
MP3/WMA。
关于操作方法，请参照控制装置的使用说明书。
・ 有关文件夹搜索模式的详细搜寻动作，请参照 < 播
放 MP3/WMA 的注意事项 >（参照第 32 页）。
・ 对于无法完成遥控操作的控制装置，不能使用文
件夹搜索功能。
・ 对于 MP3/WMA，在文件夹中的随机选择开启，
但是在全部光盘中的随机选择关闭。
・ 本装置的换片机随机播放功能关闭。

重复播放您所欣赏的光盘换片机或者 MP3/WMA
文件夹中的歌曲、光盘。
・ 碟片名称预设定功能可以为多达 100 张碟片设定
名称：名称可使用的最大长度为 12 个字母。根据
控制单元的不同，本功能可以使用的程度、可登
记碟片的数目以及名称的最大长度可能不尽相同。
・ 本机可以将总共达 100 张 DNPS 和 CD 登录到 1
张含有 MP3/WMA 的光盘。

图象方式切换开关
・ 当控制机器的电源打开时，不要连接交换机的控制缆线到控制机器。
・ 安装完毕后，请务必按下复位按键。
・ 由于可能会造成本装置故障，请勿在换片器输出电缆附近安装无线电装置的天线或布置天线电缆。
图象方式切换开关的设定应和与之连接的电视机一致。
当电视机的模式为 PAL 时，本机的图象方式切换开关也应设定为“PAL”。
反之，当电视机模式为 NTSC 时，要设定为“NTSC”
播放的视频 CD 的制式也应与本的设定一致。
・ KDC-CMP21V 的图象输出方式与电视机的制式不同时，图象的显示将不可能。
・ 视频 CD 的制式与 KDC-CMP21V 不符合时，图象的上下被遮掉，代之以黑色条带。
