You have just purchased a Sam sung w indow -type room air conditioner w hich should be installed
follow ing your installation m anual.
Your Ow ner’s Instructions contain m uch valuable inform ation on using your air conditioner.
Please take the tim e to read them as they w ill help you take full advantage of the unit’s features.
The booklet is organized as follow s.

Inserting the Remote Control Batteries
You m ust insert or replace the rem ote control batteries w hen :
◆ You purchase the air conditioner
◆ The rem ote control does not w ork correctly
◆ Use two AAA, LR03 1.5V batteries.
◆
◆ Do not use old batteries or different kinds of batteries together.
◆ Batteries may be completely discharged after 12 months, even
if they have not actually been used.

Push the battery cover on the rear of the remote control with your thumb
in the direction of the arrow and remove it.
Insert the two batteries, taking care to respect the polarities :
◆ + on the battery with + on the remote control.
◆ - on the battery with - on the remote control.

Close the cover by sliding it back until it clicks into place.

Cooling Your Room
You m ust select the Cool m ode if you w ish to low er the tem perature
in your room . You can also set the fan speed.

Result: ◆◆The air conditioner starts up in the mode selected when the
unit was last used.
◆◆The unit beeps twice.
The air conditioner is fitted with a protection mechanism to prevent
the unit from being damaged when it is started immediately after
being:

◆◆Plugged in
◆◆Stopped
It will start up normally after three minutes.

If the COOL indicator is not lit on the unit:
◆◆Press the COOL button on the remote control
or
◆◆Press the Mode button on the unit one or more times until the COOL
indicator lights up
Result: ◆◆The unit beeps each time you press the COOL/Mode button.
◆◆The air conditioner starts up in the Cool mode.
You can change modes at any time.
◆

To adjust the temperature, press the Temperature buttons on the remote
control or unit one or more times until the desired temperature is displayed.
The temperature can be set between 18°C and 30°C.
Result: ◆◆Each time you press the temperature buttons:
– The temperature is adjusted by 1°C and displayed on
the control panel
– The unit beeps
◆◆The air conditioner starts cooling if the room temperature is
higher than the selected temperature.

To set the fan speed:
◆◆Press the HIGH, MED or LOW button on the remote control as desired.
or
◆◆Press the Fan Speed button on the unit one or more times until the
desired Fan speed indicator lights up.

Ventilating Your Room
If the air in your room is stale, you can air the room using the Fan feature.

If you wish to discharge stale air, push the ventilation lever on the front of the
unit to the right and open position ( ).
Result: ◆◆The air inside the room circulates and stale air is discharged
outside.
Otherwise, push the ventilation lever to the left and closed position (
).
Result: ◆◆The air simply circulates inside the room.

If the FAN indicator is not lit on the unit:

indicator lights up
Result: ◆◆The unit beeps each time you press the FAN/Mode button.
◆ The air conditioner starts up in Fan mode.
◆
◆You can change modes at any time.
◆ When the air conditioner is in the Fan mode, the temperature
cannot be set or displayed.
◆You cannot use Fan mode in the energy saving mode

Adjusting the Air Flow Direction Horizontally
Depending on the position of the unit in your room , you can adjust
the orientation of the inner air flow blades on the right-hand side of
the unit, thus increasing the efficiency of the air conditioner.

Press the Swing button on the remote control or unit.

Result: The inner blades swing automatically left and right.

In the Energy Saving mode, the blades may stop when the
compressor is off. For details on the Energy Saving mode, refer to
page 12.

To stop the blades moving left and right, press the Swing button again.
◆ To stop the blades in a specific position and orient the air flow in
the corresponding direction, simply press the Swing button when
the blades are in the desired position.
Adjusting the Air Flow Direction Vertically
The outer air flow blades can be adjusted to control the vertical air
flow direction.
RECOMMENDATION
When...
Adjust the blades to face...
Cooling
Upwards.
Adjust the air flow blades to the desired position, by pushing them upwards or
downwards.
◆
If you orient the air flow blades downwards and the unit operates in the Cool
mode for long periods of time, dew may:
◆ Form on the surface of the blades
◆ Drip from the blades

Switching the Unit Off Automatically (Off Timer)
You can set the tim er to sw itch the air conditioner off autom atically
at a given tim e.

If necessary, press the
(On/Off) button.

Select the desired mode by pressing the appropriate button:
◆◆COOL or FAN button on the remote control
or
◆◆Mode button on the unit (press it one or more times until the
appropriate operating mode indicator lights up)

Set the operating time by pressing the Timer button on the remote control or unit
one or more times until the desired time is displayed. The operating time can be
set between 1 and 24 hours.
Result: ◆ Each time you press the Timer button:
– The time is adjusted by 1 hour and displayed on the control panel
– The unit beeps
◆ The h indicator flashes for about ten seconds and the remaining
time is displayed.
◆ The operating time is displayed and decreases automatically to
indicate the remaining time.
◆ The air conditioner switches off automatically when the operating
time reaches zero.
Example : To switch the unit off two hours after you have gone to bed, set the
operating time to 2 hours.
To Cancel the Off Timer
If you no longer w ish to use the Off Tim e that you have set, you can
cancel it at any tim e.
To cancel the Timer, press the Timer button on the remote control or unit
one or more times until "--" is displayed.
Result: ◆ The unit beeps each time you press a button.
◆ The h indicator on the unit switches off.
◆ The air conditioner operates normally.

Selecting Energy Saving Mode
If you w ish to save energy w hen using your air conditioner,
select the energy saving m ode w ith the Energy Saver button.

To select the energy saving mode, press the Energy Saver button on the
remote control or unit one or more times until the Energy Saver indicator
lights up.

The fan and compressor cycle on and off together.
The fan will continue to run for a short time after the
compressor cycles off.
◆
If you would like the air conditioner to run in Fan mode, do not press
the Energy Saver button. You cannot use the Fan mode in the energy
saving mode.

To stop the energy saving mode, press the Energy Saver button on the
remote control or unit again.
Result: The fan runs at all times, while the compressor cycles on and off.
Power Failure
If a power failure occurs when the air conditioner is operating, the unit is
switched off. When the power comes back on, wait five minutes before
pressing (On/Off) to restart the unit.

Water may condense on and drip from the surface of the unit
if it is used for long periods.

Cleaning Your Air Conditioner
Be sure to clean the air filter periodically to m aintain the air conditioner
in the best condition for a long period of tim e.
When cleaning the air conditioner, turn it off and pull out
the pow er plug.

Open the front grille by pulling on the tabs of the unit.
Note
The removal of the front grille makes it easier to clean the air
conditioner. After opening the front grille, lift it up as much as
possible, then pull down to release it.

Grasp the handle on the air filter and lift it slightly and then out to the
front.

Remove all dust on the air filter with a vacuum cleaner or brush.

When you have finished, insert the air filter back into its original
position.
Wipe the surface of the unit with a neutral detergent
and then wipe it again with dry cloth.
(Be sure not to use benzene, solvent or other chemical products.)

Solving Common Problems
Before contacting an authorized service center, perform the follow ing sim ple checks.
They m ay save you the tim e and expense of an unnecessary call.

triggered.

switched on, if necessary.

Limited Warranty to Original Purchaser
Samsung will repair or replace, at our option, this product if found defective within the warranty
period beginning from the original date of purchase. This Samsung Product is warranted by
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CANADA Inc. against manufacturing defects in materials or
workmanship for the period specified.

Limited 5-Years Compressor Warranty
Within one year of purchase Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. will provide a replacement
compressor if it is found to be defective in material or workmanship. During the existing four
years (second through fifth year) Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. will provide a replacement
only, without charge, if it is found to be defective in material or workmanship. Labor to install
the compressor during these existing four years is not included in the warranty. All warranty
repairs must be performed by a Samsung Authorized Service Centre.
Obligation of the Original Owner
The original dated purchase receipt must be retained as proof of purchase and presented to
the Authorized Service Centre before warranty services are rendered.
Exclusions of the Warranty
This warranty does not cover damage due to accident, fire, flood and/or other Acts of God:
misuse, incorrect line voltage, improper installation, improper or unauthorized repairs,
commercial use, or damages which occur in shipping. Exterior and interior finish and plastic
parts, are not covered under this warranty, Customer adjustments which are explained in the
instruction manual are not covered under the terms of this warranty. This warranty will
automatically be voided for any unit found with a missing or altered serial number.
This warranty is valid only on products purchased and used in Canada.
