Note: Always turn off your guitar amplifier before you connect your guitar cables,
power supply cables, or change the battery in your Satchurator, to avoid damag-
ing your amp.
1. AC adapter jack: This allows for connection to an optional 9V DC power supply
(not included).
2. Gain: This knob controls the level of gain, or distortion. Turn this knob clockwise
to increase the gain level, and counter-clockwise to decrease the gain level. Try

setting this knob at moderate settings for classic rock and blues rhythm and lead
tones and crank it up from there for powerful, smooth lead tones.
3. Output: This is the 1/4" output. Plug a second guitar cable between this and
your amp, or between this and the next pedal in your chain.
4. Pad: The pad switch is a subtle, but highly useful control that maximizes dynam-
ics and tone with bright guitars and/or effects (such as wah) placed before the
distortion. Down is the standard default position of this switch. Up engages the
pad.
5. “ON” LED: This LED illuminates when the Satchurator is turned on.
Note: If this LED begins to dim, light unstably or if your pedal makes any unusual
noise, your battery is almost empty. If this happens, please replace the battery.
When the battery is completely empty, you will hear no sound from the pedal.
6. ON: This switch turns the Satchurator on and off.
7. Tone: This knob controls the overall tone and EQ of the pedal. Turn this knob
clockwise to increase the overall brightness of the effect, and counter-clockwise
to roll off highs and achieve a darker sound.
8. Volume: This knob controls the output level of the effect. Turn this knob clock-
wise to increase the output level, and counter-clockwise to decrease the output
level. Use this control to either match or boost your unaffected tone, based on
your personal tastes.

9. Input: This is the 1/4" input. Plug your guitar into this. Connecting a guitar cable
to the “INPUT” jack will turn on the power automatically. For extended battery
life, always unplug your guitar cable from the input when not in use.
10. “MORE” LED: This LED illuminates when the “MORE” switch is engaged.
11. MORE: This switch activates “MORE” mode. This feature was a request of Joe
and adds a huge amount of tonal flexibility to this pedal that most traditional
distortion pedals do not have. At high gain settings, “MORE” provides a subtle
boost in gain and midrange that is just enough to push your leads to the top of
the mix, without adding unwanted distortion, clipping or noise. At lower-to
moderate gain settings, the “MORE” switch will boost the gain significantly,
allowing for dual-sound setups. Try setting the gain control at 2 o’clock and
using the “MORE” switch to boost your tone to the equivalent of the pedal’s “10”
gain setting. That’s two totally different and dynamic sounds in one pedal!
Battery compartment: This is where you can access the 9V battery.

“Changing the battery”
1. Open the battery case on the bottom of the pedal
and remove the 9V battery (6F22).
2. Remove the battery snap from the 9V battery.
3. Install a new battery onto the snap and put the bat-
tery back into the case.
4. Close the battery case.
Note: Remove the 9V battery from the pedal when
not using it for long time periods.

The Satchurator is designed to the exact specifications of world-renowned guitar icon Joe
Satriani. Joe wanted a dynamic, touch responsive, and musical distortion pedal that
would start with his favorite vintage Japanese distortion pedal (which gets its sound from
several now out of production components) and add features and tonal enhancements
that would be not only useful to him, but to guitarists of all styles and levels. This distor-
tion was designed and tested on Joe’s rig, as well as a variety of different amp and guitar
setups so that you will be sure to have a tone-changing experience with this pedal for
years to come!

Special features of the Satchurator:
Pure, powerful, and dynamic distortion tone. Through months of painstaking experi-
mentation and road testing Joe and the VOX R&D team discovered the secrets to captur-
ing the ultimate distortion tone in a modern-day pedal. The Satchurator is capable of very
high gain levels, but preserves the tone and pick attack of the guitarist plugging into it.
Best of all, you can play VERY hard with anything from vintage single coils to high output
humbucking pickups and the input will not clip like many modern day distortion pedals.
We would tell you more about how we nailed this sound, but then we’d have to…well,
you know.
“MORE” Switch. This switch adds a huge amount of tonal flexibility to the Satchurator,
and essentially makes this a two-in-one pedal. At high gain settings, “MORE” provides a
subtle boost in gain and midrange that is just enough to push your leads to the top of the
mix, without adding unwanted distortion, clipping or noise. At lower-to moderate gain
settings, the “MORE” switch will boost the gain significantly, allowing for dual-sound set-
ups. Try setting the gain control at 2 o’clock and using the “MORE” switch to boost your
tone to the equivalent of the pedal’s “10” gain setting. Since you can dial in two totally dif-
ferent, dynamic sounds in one pedal, you can save space on your pedal board!
Chicken Head Knobs. There were a lot of practical reasons Joe chose these knobs over
something more modern looking. For one, they just look cool! But the controls of the
Satchurator are so sensitive and the range of sounds so broad, that Joe and the VOX team
found that very small changes in knob settings yielded very cool sounds. So, we decided it
was essential to give you the most precision possible in exploring and documenting your

own favorite sound settings. The chicken head knobs with pointers were the best way to
go. Joe chose cream, so you can see them in dark places, like on stage or in your basement.
Joe’s pedals play nice with others! Once we got the basic sound of the pedal nailed, Joe
threw a curve ball at us. He rightly insisted that we ensure that the Satchurator perform
flawlessly, and without the distortion and overloading of other distortion pedals when
running them with wah pedals or other stomp boxes. The Satchurator retains its tone in
any chaining configuration.

Remarque: Coupez toujours votre ampli de guitare avant de brancher vos câbles
de guitare et d’alimentation ou de changer la pile de la Satchurator pour éviter
d’endommager l’ampli.

moyen pour des rythmes rock et blues ainsi que pour des solos classiques. Aug-
mentez le niveau pour des sons solo puissants.
3. Sortie: Cette sortie est une prise jack 1/4". Vous pouvez utiliser un deuxième
câble de guitare pour brancher cette sortie à votre ampli ou à la pédale suivante
de votre chaîne.
4. Pad: Le commutateur PAD est une commande subtile mais très utile qui maxi-
mise la dynamique et le timbre pour des sons de guitare brillants et/ou des effets
(comme le wah) placés avant la distorsion. La position basse est la position stan-
dard de ce commutateur. En position haute, l’atténuation est active.
5. Témoin ON: Ce témoin s’allume quand le Satchurator est sous tension.
Remarque: Si l’intensité de ce témoin diminue, s’il s’allume de façon intermit-
tente ou si la pédale fait des bruits inhabituels, la pile est pratiquement épuisée.
Dans ce cas, remplacez la pile. Quand la pile est complètement épuisée, la
pédale ne produit plus aucun son.
6. ON: Cet interrupteur met la Satchurator sous/hors tension.
7. Tone: Cette commande pilote le timbre global et l’égaliseur de la pédale. Tournez
cette commande dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre pour augmenter la
brillance de l’effet et dans le sens inverse pour atténuer l’aigu et obtenir un son
plus sourd.
8. Volume: Cette commande détermine le niveau de sortie de l’effet. Tournez cette

atteindre ou accentuer le niveau du signal non traité, en fonction de vos goûts
personnels.
9. Entrée: Cette entrée est une prise jack 1/4”. Branchez ici votre guitare. La con-
nexion d’un câble de guitare à cette entrée IN met automatiquement la pédale
sous tension. Pour économiser la pile, débranchez toujours le câble de guitare de
l’entrée quand vous n’utilisez pas la pédale.
10. Témoin MORE: Ce témoin s’allume quand le commutateur MORE est activé.
11. MORE: Ce commutateur active le mode MORE. Cette fonction répond à une
demande de Joe et confère une flexibilité sonore considérable à la pédale dont
sont dépourvues la plupart des pédales de distorsion traditionnelles. Avec un
réglage de gain élevé, le mode MORE accentue subtilement le gain et le médium,
et place vos solos à l’avant-plan, sans ajouter de distorsion, de saturation ou de
bruit indésirable. Avec des réglages de gain faibles à modérés, le commutateur
MORE accentue considérablement le gain et permet de créer des configurations à
double signal. Réglez, par exemple, la commande GAIN à 2h puis activez le com-
mutateur MORE: vous accentuez le signal comme si vous aviez réglé le gain de la
pédale sur «10». Vous obtenez ainsi deux sons dynamiques complètement diffé-
rents avec une seule pédale!

Changer la pile
1. Ouvrez le compartiment à pile sous la
pédale et retirez la pile 9V (6F22).
2. Détachez la pile 9V des contacts.
3. Fixez une nouvelle pile aux contacts et
placez-la dans le compartiment.
4. Refermez le couvercle du compartiment à
piles.
Remarque: Retirez la pile 9V du compar-
timent si vous n’utilisez pas la pédale
durant une période prolongée.

simple bobinage vintage aux redoutables humbuckers à niveau de sortie élevé, sans que
l’entrée ne sature comme c’est le cas pour de nombreuses pédales de distorsion actuelles.

Commandes à bec. Il y a de nombreuses raisons pratiques pour lesquelles Joe a préféré
ces commandes à des modèles plus contemporains. La première est leur look d’enfer! En
fait, les commandes de la Satchurator sont tellement sensibles et la plage de sons tellement
large que Joe et l’équipe VOX ont découvert que de très faibles changements de réglage
produisaient des sons extraordinaires. Nous avons donc décidé de vous offrir un maxi-
mum de précision pour vous permettre d’explorer et de profiter au mieux de cette vaste
palette sonore. Les commandes à bec constituent un choix optimal à cet égard. Joe a choisi
la couleur crème pour pouvoir les repérer dans les endroits sombres, que ce soit sur scène
ou dans votre cave.
Les pédales de Joe s’intègrent parfaitement aux autres! Une fois que la sonorité de base
de la pédale a été déterminée, Joe nous a posé une colle. Il a insisté à juste titre que nous
veillions à ce que la Satchurator continue à fonctionner parfaitement, sans la distorsion et
la surcharge affichées par certaines pédales de distorsion quand elles sont branchées à des
pédales wah ou d’autres pédales d’effets. La Satchurator conserve donc sa sonorité quelle
que soit la configuration de la chaîne.

Anmerkung: Schalten Sie Ihren Gitarrenverstärker aus, bevor Sie Kabelverbin-
dungen herstellen oder die Batterien des Satchurator erneuern, um Ihren Ver-

1. AC-Netzteilanschluss: Hier kann ein optionales 9V DC-Netzteil angeschlossen
werden.
2. Gain: Mit diesem Regler wird die Pegelanhebung und somit die Verzerrungsin-
tensität eingestellt. Drehen Sie den Regler nach rechts, um den Pegel zu erhöhen
und nach links, um ihn zu verringern. Wählen Sie einen relativ kleinen Wert für

„klassische“ Rock-Sounds, Blues-Rhythmen und dezente Soloklänge. Drehen Sie
ihn voll auf, wenn Ihr Solo schön singen soll.
3. Ausgang: Dies ist ein 1/4"-Ausgang. Schließen Sie hier das Kabel an, das Sie mit
dem Eingang des nächsten Effektpedals bzw. des Verstärkers verbinden möch-
ten.
4. Pad: Der PAD-Schalter arbeitet zwar subtil, erweist sich aber als praktisch zur
Maximierung der Dynamik und Klangfarbe bei Gitarren mit einem hellen Sound
und/oder Effekten (z.B. Wah), die sich vor dem Verzerrerpedal befinden. Die
„Unten“-Position ist die Vorgabe für diese Taste. Schiebe ihn hoch, um den Pegel
abzuschwächen.
5. ON-Diode: Diese Diode leuchtet, wenn der Satchurator eingeschaltet ist.
Anmerkung: Wenn diese Diode nur noch schwach leuchtet bzw. zu blinken
beginnt und wenn das Pedal plötzlich stark rauscht, ist die Batterie fast erschöpft.
Legen Sie dann eine neue Batterie ein. Wenn die Batterie endgültig erschöpft ist,
gibt das Pedal kein Signal mehr aus.
6. ON: Hiermit schalten Sie den Satchurator ein und aus.
7. Tone: Mit diesem Regler ändern Sie die Klangfarbe des Pedals. Drehen Sie ihn
nach rechts, um den Effekt heller zu machen, und nach links, wenn Sie einen run-
deren und dunkleren Sound bevorzugen.
8. Volume: Hiermit regeln Sie den Ausgangspegel des Effekts. Drehen Sie den Reg-
ler nach rechts, um den Pegel zu erhöhen und nach links, um ihn zu verringern.

Hauptzweck diese Reglers ist das Angleichen des Signalpegels „mit“ und
„ohne“ Effekt bzw. die Einstellung der gewünschten Differenz.
9. Eingang: An diese 1/4"-Buchse müssen Sie Ihre Gitarre anschließen. Sobald Sie
eine Klinke in die IN-Buchse schieben, wird das Pedal aktiviert. Daher raten wir,
diese Verbindung nach dem Spielen so schnell wie möglich zu lösen, um die Bat-
terie zu schonen.
10. MORE-Diode: Diese Diode leuchtet, wenn die MORE-Taste aktiv ist.
11. MORE: Mit diesem Fußschalter wird der MORE-Modus aktiviert. Joe bestand
auf die Hinzufügung dieser Funktion, um über eine größere Klangpalette zu ver-
fügen als auf herkömmlichen Verzerrerpedalen. Bei Anwahl eines hohen GAIN-
Werts hebt die MORE-Schaltung vor allem den Pegel der Mitten an, um den
Solo-Sound durchsetzungsfähiger zu machen. Die Verzerrung wird aber nicht
intensiviert (es treten also weder Übersteuerung noch Rauschen auf). Bei niedri-
gen GAIN-Werten hebt die MORE-Schaltung den Pegel dagegen wohl an und
erzeugt demnach einen völlig anderen Sound. Stellen Sie den GAIN-Regler auf
„2 Uhr“ und aktivieren Sie den MORE-Fußschalter. Der Pegel wird dann so stark
angehoben wie bei Einstellen des GAIN-Reglers auf „10“. Ihr Pedal erzeugt folg-
lich auf Knopfdruck zwei völlig unterschiedliche Sounds!

1. Öffnen Sie das Batteriefach an der Pedal-

Entstehungsgeschichte des Satchurator & Sonderfunktionen
Der Satchurator beruht in jeder Hinsicht auf den Vorgaben des Gitarrengroßmeisters Joe
Satriani. Joe suchte ein dynamisches Verzerrerpedal, das akkurat auf seinen Anschlag rea-
giert und allzeit musikalisch klingt. Als Ausgangpunkt hierfür diente sein „Vintage“-Ver-
zerrerpedal (aus Japan), dessen unnachahmlicher Sound von Komponenten erzeugt wird,
die heutzutage vergriffen sind. Dieses Basisangebot sollte dann noch um Funktionen
erweitert werden, die nicht nur für ihn, sondern für alle Gitarristen praktisch sind. Die
Verzerrung wurde mit Joes Anlage sowie mehreren Verstärker- und Boxenkombinationen
getestet, um sicherzustellen, dass sie überall gleichermaßen überzeugt!

Sonderfunktionen des Satchurator
Eine reine, herzhafte und dynamische Verzerrung. Mehrere Monate lang experimentier-
ten und testeten Joe und das R&D-Team von VOX unzählige Ansätze—und fanden
schließlich den ultimativen Zerrgral. Obwohl der Satchurator den Pegel ungemein stark
anheben kann, bleiben sowohl die Klangfarbe der Gitarre als auch der Anschlag des Gitar-
risten erhalten. Ein weiterer Vorteil dieses Pedal ist, dass selbst bei Verwendung einer
„heißen“ Gitarre keine Eingangsübersteuerung auftritt, was bei Verzerrerpedalen anderer
Hersteller sehr wohl der Fall ist. Obwohl wir Ihnen liebend gern erzählen würden, wie
wir das geschafft haben, wäre es aus kommerzieller Sicht etwas naiv. Sie verstehen
schon…
MORE-Fußschalter. Mit diesem Schalter machen Sie aus einem Satchurator quasi zwei
Effektpedale. Bei Anwahl eines hohen GAIN-Werts hebt die MORE-Schaltung vor allem
den Pegel der Mitten an, um den Solo-Sound durchsetzungsfähiger zu machen. Die Ver-

‘Chicken Head’-Regler. Joe hat sich bewusst für diese Reglerköpfe –und folglich gegen
ein futuristisches Design– entschieden. Erstens sehen sie doch cool aus! Zweitens sind die
Potentiometer des Satchurator so empfindlich und vielseitig, dass sowohl Joe als auch die

VOX-Ingenieure fanden, dass man sie haargenau einstellen können muss. Außerdem
erleichtert dieser Ansatz das Notieren Ihrer Lieblings-Sounds, um sie nie mehr zu verges-
sen. Die „Chicken Head“-Regler ähneln schmalen Pfeilen, bei denen falsche Einstellungen
ausgeschlossen sind. Und die Cremefarbe hat sich Joe ausgesucht, damit er auch auf einer
dunklen Bühne sehen kann, wie die Regler eingestellt sind.
Joes Pedal verträgt sich blendend mit anderen Effekten! Als wir den Grund-Sound des
Pedals gefunden hatten, gab uns Joe eine weitere Nuss zu knacken. Er bestand –übrigens
zurecht– darauf, dass der Satchurator nicht übersteuern darf, wenn man ein Wah-Pedal
oder einen anderen Effekt davor schaltet. Der Satchurator wahrt seine Klangcharakteristik
in jeder nur erdenklichen Konfiguration.

1. Adaptador jack AC: Permite conectar una fuente de alimentación de 9V DC

2. Ganancia: Este potenciómetro controla el nivel de ganancia o distorsión. Gírelo

para rock clásico, rítmos de blues, sonidos solistas y aumentando la ganancia
potentes y suaves tonos solistas.
3. Output: Esta es la salida de 1/4". Enchufe un segundo cable de guitarra entre
esta salida y su amplificador, o entre esta salida y el siguiente pedal en la cadena.
4. Pad: El conmutador Pad es un control sutil áltamente útil que maximiza la diná-
mica y el tono con guitarras brillantes y/o efectos (como wah-wah) emplazados
ántes de la distorsión. Abajo es la posición por defecto de este conmutador.
Arriba activa el pad.
5. LED “ON” : Este LED se ilumina cuando el Satchurator está activado.
Nota: Si el Led empieza a encenderse de forma inestable, o su pedal hace rui-
dos inusuales, su batería estará prácticamente agotada. Si esto ocurre, reem-
place la batería. Cuando la batería está completamente vacía, no oirá sonido del
pedal.
6. ON: Este conmutador enciende y apaga el Satchurator.
7. Tone: Este potenciómetro controla el tono general y la EQ del pedal. Gírelo en el
sentido de las agujas del reloj para incrementar el brillo general del efecto, y al
contrario para quitar agudos y conseguir un sonido más oscuro.
8. Volume: Este potenciómetro controla el nivel de salida del efecto. Gírelo en el
sentido de las agujas del reloj para incrementar el nivel de salida, y al contrario
para disminuir el nivel de salida. Use este control para emparejar o incrementar
su tono original sin efecto, basándose en sus gustos personales.

petición de Joe y añade una gran cantidad de flexibilidad tonal a este pedal que
la mayoría de los pedales de distorsión tradicionales no poseen. A altos niveles
de ganancia, “MORE” proporciona una sutil subida de ganancia y rangos medios
que es suficiente para empujar tus solos al frente de la mezcla, sin añadir distor-
sión indeseada, clipping o ruido. A niveles medios a moderados, el conmutador
“MORE” aumentará la ganancial significativamente, permitiendo ajustes de
sonido dual. Prueba a ajustar el control a las 2 y use el conmutador “MORE” para
aumentar su tono al equivalente del ajuste de ganancia de pedal al “10”. Esos son
dos sonidos y dinámicas totálmente diferentes en un solo pedal!

“Cambio de batería”
1. Abra el compartimento de la batería en la
parte trasera del pedal y retire la batería
de 9V (6F22).
2. Quite el cierre de la batería de 9V.

Historia del Satchurator & Caracteristicas especiales.
El Satchurator está diseñado siguiendo las especificacioes exactas del icono
de la guitarra mundialmente reconocido Joe Satriani. Joe quería un pedal
de distorsión dinámico, musical y receptivo que pudiese usar junto a su
pedal de distorsión japonés vintage favorito (el cuál obtiene su sonido a partir
de varios componentes que ya no se fabrican) y añadir características
y mejoras tonales que no solo fuese útil para él, también para guitarristas de todos
los estilos y niveles. Esta distorsión fué diseñada y testeada en el equipo de Joe, así

Caracteristicas especiales del Satchurator
Distorsión dinámica, pura y potente. A través de meses de dura
experimentación y pruebas prácticas, Joe y el equipo R&D de vox
descubrieron los secretos para capturar la distorsión definitiva en un pedal
moderno. El Satchurator es capáz de niveles de ganancia muy altos, pero
preserva el tono y el ataque de púa del guitarrista enchufado a él. Lo mejor de todo,
es que puedes tocar MUY duramente con cualquier cosa, desde pastillas simples
vintage a humbuckers de alta ganancia y la entrada no saturará como en la mayoría
de pedales de distorsión modernos. Podríamos contarte más acerca de cómo
conseguimos ese sonido, pero tendríamos que...bueno, ya sabes.
Conmutador “MORE” Este conmutador añade una gran cantidad de flexibilidad
tonal al Satchurator, y esencialmente convierte este pedal en un dos-en-uno.
A altos niveles de ganancia, “MORE” proporciona un aumento sutil de ganancia y
registros medios que es suficiente para empujar tus solos al frente de la mezcla sin
añadir distorsión indeseada, clipping o ruido. A niveles de ganancia bajos a moderados,
el conmutador “MORE” aumentará la ganancia de modo significativo, permitiendo
ajustes de sonido dual. Pruebe a ajustar el control de ganancia a las 2 y
use el control “MORE” para elevar su tono al equivalente de subir la ganacia
al “10” en el pedal. Como puede obtener dos sonidos totalmente diferentes en
un solo pedal, puede salvar espacio en su pedalera!

Controles “Chicken Head”. Hay un montón de motivos prácticos por los que
Joe eligió estos controles en detrimento de otros con un “look” más moderno.
Además, tienen una pinta estupenda!. Pero los controles del Satchurator son tan
sensibles y el rango de sonidos tan ámplio, que Joe y el equipo de Vox se dieron cuenta
que pequeños cambios en el potenciómetro producían sonidos muy interesantes, así que
era fundamental darle la máxima precisión posible al explorar y documentar sus ajustes
de sonido favoritos. Los controles “Chicken Head” con indicadores, eran la mejor opción.
Joe escogió el color crema, para que pueda verlos en lugares oscuros, como en directo o en
su sótano.
