13 Unplug the appliance when not in use, before moving and before cleaning. Let it
cool down fully before cleaning and storing away.
14 Don’t fit any attachment or accessory other than those we supply.
15 Keep the iron and the cable away from hotplates, hobs or burners.
16 Don’t use the iron for any purpose other than those described in these instructions.
17 Take care not to scratch the soleplate – avoid buttons, zips, etc.
18 The iron has a protective thermal fuse, which will blow if it overheats. If this happens,
the iron will stop working, and must be returned for repair.
19 Don’t operate the appliance if it’s dropped or damaged or if it malfunctions or leaks.
20 If the cable is damaged, return the iron, in order to avoid hazard.
domestic use only
before using for the first time
• Remove any labels, stickers or packaging from the iron and soleplate.
• Don’t worry if the iron smokes a bit at first, it’ll stop as the element cures.
• Iron an old piece of cotton fabric, to clean the soleplate.
• Press the * button 3 or 4 times, to check it out.
check the voltage before use
1 Check the local voltage.
2 The voltage switch is under the rear of the iron.
3 Set the voltage switch to 115V for a local voltage of 100-120 volts a.c., set it to
230V if the local voltage is in the range 220-240 volts a.c.
4 Using the wrong setting will probably damage the iron beyond repair.
5 On lower voltages, the iron may take longer to heat up.
travel adaptor
6 Use an earthed travel adaptor suitable for the wall sockets in the area you’re visiting.
filling
7 Turn the temperature control to •, and unplug the iron.
8 The iron is tap-water tolerant, so you may fill the reservoir with tap-water, but if
you’re in a hard-water area, you should use distilled water.
9 If you buy distilled water, check that it’s marketed as suitable for irons.
10 Don’t use chemically descaled water, or water from a water softening installation,
and don’t put anything in the water.
11 Pour water from the jug into the water inlet.
12 Pour slowly, and try to pour down one side of the inlet, to allow the air in the
reservoir to escape, otherwise you’ll cause an air lock and the water will overflow.
13 Don’t fill past the max mark on the reservoir.
14 Wipe up any spillage.
preparation
15 Check for textile care symbols (i j k l).
16 Iron fabrics needing low temperatures j first, then those that need medium
temperatures k, and finish with those needing high temperatures l (or max).

power up
17 Set the iron upright, with the rests at either side of the rear of
the iron, and the end of the handle, on a stable, level, heat-
resistant surface, preferably an ironing board
18 Put the plug into the wall socket (switch the socket on, if it’s
switchable).
temperature setting guide
19 Turn the temperature control to bring the setting you want next to
the mark.
, If you want to use steam, you must set the temperature to S or higher,
or you’ll just get water.
20 The ready light will come on, to tell you the iron is heating up, then
it’ll go on and off as the thermostat operates to maintain the
temperature.
