We Want You Listening For A Lifetime
Used wisely, your new sound equipment will provide a lifetime of
fun and enjoyment. Since hearing damage from loud noise is often
undetectable until it is too late, this manufacturer and the Electronic
Industries Association’s Consumer Electronics Group recommend
you avoid prolonged exposure to excessive noise. This list of sound
levels is included for your protection.
Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’ve just
purchased is only the start of your musical enjoyment. Now it’s time
to consider how you can maximize the fun and excitement your
equipment offers. This manufacturer and the Electronic Industries
Association’s Consumer Electronics Group want you to get the most
out of your equipment by playing it at a safe level. One that lets the
sound come through loud and clear without annoying blaring or
distortion—and, most importantly, without affecting your sensitive
hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing “comfort level”
adapts to higher volumes of sound. So what sounds “normal” can
actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. Guard against this by
setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts.

• When you turn the car radio off, the
system stays on. If you leave it on for a
long time, the car battery may go flat.
• You can connect this unit to a Multi-CD
controller (e.g. a head unit) with an IP-
BUS cable (sold separately). If you do
this, refer to the manual provided with
the Multi-CD controller before using it to
operate this unit.
• With this player, you can use the ITS
functions to store up to 99 tracks per disc.
Even if the Head unit’s manual indicates
ITS memory is up to 24 tracks per disc, this
player can store up to 99 tracks per disc.
• When driving on an uneven road, the
player may not reproduce every sound
properly.
• When this universal multi-CD system is
connected to a vehicle’s diversity anten-
na, there may be distortion if a station is
broadcasting a strong signal on the fre-
quency you’re using for the system. If
this occurs, switch to another frequency.
• During winter the inside of the vehicle
may be very cold. If the heater is turned
on and the player is used soon after, the
disc or optical parts (prism, lens, etc.)
may become misted up, and the player
will not operate correctly. If the disc is
misted up, wipe it with a soft cloth. If the
optical parts are misted up, wait for about
an hour for them to warm up. They will
return to their normal condition.

Preparing to Use the Remote Controller Unit

Precautions
• Keep the remote controller unit in an
area not exposed to long periods of
direct sunlight.
• The remote controller unit may not oper-
ate properly if the transmitter of the
remote controller unit is pointed towards
the floor or the seat of the vehicle.
• Since the transmitter employs an
infrared system, it may not operate
properly while car stereo unit is exposed
to direct sunlight. In such a case, block
the sunlight from the sensor and then
perform the desired operation.
• If the remote controller fails to operate
unless it is brought close to the unit, it
may indicate that battery power is low.
Replace the batteries in the remote
controller.
Loading Battery
WARNING:
• Keep the Lithium Battery out of reach of children. Should the
Battery be swallowed, immediately consult a doctor.
CAUTION:
• Do not recharge, disassemble, heat or dispose of battery in fire.
• Use a CR2025 (3 V) Lithium Battery only. Never use other types
of battery with this unit.
Remove the cover on the back of
the remote controller unit and
insert the battery with the (+) and
(–) poles pointing in the proper
direction.
• Do not handle the battery with metallic tools.
• Do not store the Lithium Battery with metallic materials.
• When disposing of used batteries, please comply with govern-
mental regulations or environmental public institution’s rules
that apply in your country/area.
• Use only lithium battery “CR2025”, 3 V.
• Always check carefully that you are loading battery with its (+)
and (–) poles facing in the proper directions.

• Be sure to remove the disc before
changing a disc tray.
• If the tray is not aligned with the right
and left grooves, it cannot be pushed to
the end. Do not bend or force the tray.
• Always load 12 trays in a magazine to
prevent loss or warping of trays.
• If you load a disc with the label general-
ly printed in black facing down, not only
will the player not be able to recognize
whether the disc is set or not, but also,
the display unit will not display an error
message to let you know about it. So
make sure all the discs in each maga-
zine have their label sides facing up.
Precautions when handling
magazines
• Do not put the magazine in a place
where it will be exposed to high
temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Do not disassemble the magazine.
• Take care not to drop the magazine or
knock it against anything.
• Do not use cracked or warped trays.
• Never insert anything other than discs.
Do not attach a label or tape to a disc.
• The use of benzine, thinner, insecticide,
or other volatile chemicals may damage
the magazine surface.

Notes on 8-cm (3-inch) CDs
Do not use an 8-cm CD adapter. If it is
used, the player may fail. To load an
8-cm CD, you need a special 8-cm CD
tray (Part No. CXB5931). Ask your
Pioneer service station about it.
Attaching the label
Attach the supplied label in the speci-
fied position. Attaching the label in an
incorrect place or attaching more than
one label will cause malfunction.

Using the Compact Discs Magazine
Loading the magazine
• Do not put your fingers in the magazine
tray as this may lead to incorrect opera-
tion and damage to the player.
• If the label on the magazine is coming
off or wrinkled up, it may damage the
eject mechanism, and in some cases,
the magazine may not be ejected.
Therefore, remove a damaged label
completely before use.

ing discs. The entry of dirt, dust, or any
other foreign matter into the player may
cause it to fail.

This function lets you program and play the tracks you want. You can listen to just your
favorite tracks.
Programming
1. Play the track you want to program.
2.Press button to program the track.
It will be displayed for about 2
seconds to indicate memory
storage.
MEMO
• The ADPS function* of the multi-play
CD player lets you program up to 100
discs.
• Up to 99 tracks can be programmed for
a single disc.
• Tracks are programmed for each disc.
Programmed tracks are not erased after
the disc is changed.

• When the number of discs exceeds 100,
the oldest disc that has been played in
the past is overwritten by the newest.

Erasing the ITS Play
To erase a single track program:
During ITS play, select the track
you wish to erase by using track
search.
Hold down button for more than 2
seconds to erase the program.
(When there are no more memo-
rized tracks, “EMPTY” is displayed,
and ITS play is canceled.)
To erase the disc program:
During normal play, select the disc
you wish to erase by using disc
number search.
Hold down button for more than 2
seconds to erase the program.
It will be displayed for about 2
seconds to indicate deletion of
memory contents in play.

You can enter a title for the disc in the CD player. The title stored for the disc can be dis-
played.
Entering Title
1.Select the disc for which you want
to enter a title.
2.Hold down button for more than 2
seconds to select title input mode.
MEMO
• You cannot switch to the Title Input
mode while playing a CD TEXT disc.
• The ADPS function* of the CD player
lets you enter titles for up to 100 discs.
(Up to 100 discs, including ITS, can be
programmed.)
• When the number of discs exceeds 100,
the oldest disc that has been played in
the past is overwritten by the newest.
• One title is stored for each disc. The title
stored for a disc is not erased after the
disc is changed.

Modulating frequencies selector
Pre-emphasis selector
This system can change the frequency at
which the FM car radio receives the CD
audio signals within the range of 87.9 to
90.1 MHz in 0.2-MHz increments. (The ini-
tial setting is 89.1 MHz.) If there is a
strong broadcast station signal near the
current frequency, radio interference may
occur. If it occurs, change the frequency.
Normally, set the pre-emphasis selector
to “PRE-EMP 1”. (The initial setting is
“PRE-EMP 1”.)
Play a disc. If you feel the treble is insuffi-
cient, switch the selector to “PRE-EMP 2”
to boost the treble slightly.
• When the selector is set to “PRE-EMP
2”, the sound may distort with some car
radios. In this case, switch it back to
“PRE-EMP 1”.
Source level adjuster
When you play discs, If the volume is low
compared with that for FM increase the
volume level. If the volume is high and
there is distortion, decrease the volume
level. (The initial setting is “LEVEL-4”.)

discs before using.
• Avoid touching the recorded (iridescent)
surface when handling discs.
• Do not affix labels or apply chemicals to

COMPACT
DIGITAL AUDIO
• Playback of music CD-R discs, even
those recorded with a music CD
recorder, may not be possible with this
product due to disc characteristics or
scratches or dirt on the disc. Dirt or con-
densation on the lens inside this product
may also prevent playback.
• Titles and other text information record-
ed on a CD-R disc may not be displayed
by this product.
• With this unit, use discs and magazines
bearing the above marks.
• Wipe dirty or damp discs outward from
the center with a soft cloth.
• Keep discs out of direct sunlight and
high temperatures.

A transport screw has been attached to
the set in order to protect it during trans-
portation. After removing the transport
screw, cover the hole with the supplied
seal.

Précautions
• Lorsque l’on conduit sur une route acci-
dentée, le lecteur risque de ne pas
reproduire correctement chaque son.
• Lorsque ce système avec lecteur de CD
à chargeur est relié à l’antenne de
réception d’un véhicule, on peut noter
une forte distorsion si une station de
radiodiffusion émet un signal puissant
sur la même fréquence que celle qui est
utilisée par le système. En ce cas, choi-
sissez une autre fréquence.
• En hiver, l’intérieur du véhicule peut
devenir très froid. Si le chauffage est
mis en marche et que le lecteur est uti-
lisé tout de suite, le disque ou les pièces
optiques (prisme, lentille, etc.) peuvent
s’embuer et, de ce fait, le lecteur peut ne
pas fonctionner correctement. Si le
disque est embué, l’essuyer avec un
tissu doux. Si les pièces optiques sont
embuées, attendre environ une heure
pour qu’elles se réchauffent. Elles
retourneront à leur état normal.

Avant d’utiliser la télécommande

Précautions
• Conservez la télécommande dans une
zone non exposée au plein soleil pen-
dant une période prolongée de temps.
• La télécommande risque de ne pas fonc-
tionner correctement si le transmetteur
de la télécommande est dirigé vers le
sol ou vers le siège du véhicule.
• La télécommande utilisant un système à
infrarouge, elle risque de ne pas fonc-
tionner correctement si vous l’exposez
au plein soleil. Dans un tel cas, protégez
le détecteur du plein soleil puis effectuez
l’opération souhaitée.
• Si la télécommande ne peut fonctionner
à moins d’être rapprochée de l’appareil,
c’est peut-être l’indication que la charge
des piles est faible. Dans ce cas rem-
placez les piles au plus tôt.
Mise en place de la pile
ATTENTION:
• Conservez les piles au lithium hors de portée des enfants. En cas
d’ingestion d’une pile, consultez immédiatement un médecin.
PRÉCAUTION:
• Ne tentez pas de charger, démonter, chauffer la pile; ne la jeter pas
dans un feu.
• N’utilisez que des piles au lithium type CR2025 (3 V). Tous les autres
types de pile sont à proscrire.
• Ne saisissez pas la pile à l’aide d’un outil métallique.
• Ne stockez pas les piles au lithium au voisinage de matériaux

Précautions pour la manipula-
tion des chargeurs
• Ne pas les mettre dans un endroit où il
peuvent être exposés à des hautes tem-
pératures ou aux raysons directs du soleil.
• Ne pas démonter le chargeur.
• Faire attention à ne pas laisser un
chargeur tomber et ne pas le cogner
contre quelque chose.
• Ne pas utiliser des plateaux fêlées ou
déformées.
• Ne jamais insérer des objets autres que
les disques. Ne pas fixer une étiquette ou
une bande à un disque.

Si vous mettez en place un disque de
telle manière que l’étiquette, laquelle est
souvent une gravure noire, soit tournée
vers le bas, non seulement le lecteur ne
sera pas en mesure de se rendre compte
qu’un disque est en place, mais encore
aucun message ne s’affichera pour vous
signaler cette erreur de positionnement.
Il est donc important que vous veilliez à
ce que tous les disques soient placés de
façon que leur étiquette soit tournée
vers le haut.
• L’utilisation de benzine, diluant, insecti-
cide ou autres produits chimiques volatils
peut endommager la surface du chargeur.
Chargeurs supplémentaires
Si l’on a besoin de chargeurs supplé-
mentaires, prière de contacter le four-
nisseur le plus proche pour le chargeur

Remarques sur les CD de 8 cm

Mise en place d’un chargeur
• Ne pas mettre les doigts dans le tiroir
du chargeur car cela peut entraîner une
anomalie de fonctionnement et un
endommagement du lecteur.
• Si l’étiquette que porte le chargeur se
décolle ou est plissée, le mécanisme
d’éjection peut être endommagé, ou
être dans l’incapacité d’éjecter le
chargeur. En conséquence, retirez toute
étiquette endommagée avant d’intro-
duire le chargeur.

Normalement, régler le sélecteur de préac-
centuation à la position “PRE-EMP 1”.
(Le réglage initial est “PRE-EMP 1”.)
Reproduire un disque. Si l’on sent que les
aigus sont insuffisants, commuter le
sélecteur à la position “PRE-EMP 2” pour
renforcer légèrement les aigus.
Ce système peut changer la fréquence à
laquelle la radio FM de la voiture reçoit les
signaux audio CD dans la plage de 87,9 a
90,1 MHz par incréments de 0,2 MHz. (Le
réglage initial est de 89,1 MHz.) S’il y a un
signal de station de transmission fort à
proximité de la fréquence courante, une
interférence radio pourrait se produire. Si
ce fait se présente, changer la fréquence.
• Lorsque le sélecteur est réglé sur la
position “PRE-EMP 2”, le son pourrait
être déformé dans le cas de certains
types de radio pour voiture. Dans ce
cas, le commuter de nouveau à la posi-
tion “PRE-EMP 1”.
Ajusteur du niveau de source
Si le volume est bas comparé à celui de
la transmission FM lorsque l’on reproduit
des disques, augmenter le niveau du vo-
lume. Si le volume est élevé et qu’il y a
une distorsion, réduire le niveau du vo-
lume (Le réglage initial est “LEVEL-4”).

En appuyant sur la touche d’effacement
Après avoir terminé les connexions,
appuyer sur la touche d’effacement avec
la pointe d’un crayon. Si l’appareil n’est
pas mis sous tension, si la lecteur de
disque compact ne fonctionne pas lorsque
la touche de l’unité de commande est
enfoncée ou si l’affichage de l’unité de
commande est incorrect, appuyer sur
cette touche avec la pointe d’un crayon
pour rétablir l’opération normale. (Ce bou-
ton est placé à l’intérieur de la porte.)
• Si vous appuyez sur la touche
d’effacement alors que le lecteur
contient un chargeur ou que le
contacteur d’allumage est sur la position
ON ou ACC, le titre du disque et le
contenu de la mémoire de
programmation immédiate (ITS) sont
effacés.

recevoir les disques compacts circu-
laires. L’utilisation d’un disque ayant
une forme autre n’est pas conseillée.
• Vérifiez tous les CD avant de les repro-
duire et jetez les disques fissurés, rayés
ou déformés.
• Tenez compte des précautions qui
figurent sur les disques CD-R.
• Evitez de toucher la surface enregistrée
(iridescente) lors de la manipulation des
disques.
• N’apposez pas d’étiquette et n’appliquez pas
de produits chimiques sur les disques.

avant de transporter l’appareil.

le trou au moyen du cache fourni.
Veillez à retirer ces vis avant d’installer le
lecteur. Conservez les vis dans le sac con-
tenant les accessoires de manière à ne
pas les égarer et à être en mesure de les
remettre en place en cas de transport.
