With the Nikon autofocus cameras (except for the F3AF), autofocus is possible. To focus
manually, rotate the focus ring until the image in the viewfinder appears sharp and crisp.
The effective focal length may vary in extreme heat or cold. Due to the lens’s optical
characteristics, the focal length will decrease slightly when the subject is at very close
range.

Avec votre appareil autofocus Nikon (sauf le F3AF) l’autofocus est possible. Pour faire le point
manuellement, tournez la baque de mise au point jusqu’à ce que vous obteniez dans le viseur
une vue nette et claire. La distance focale effective peut varier sous l’effet de températures
très chaudes ou très froides. A cause des caractéristiques optiques de l’objectif, la longueur
focale diminuera un peu quand le sujet sera à une distance très rapprochée.
Pour varier la mise au point de votre zoom, tournez la bague de zoom vers la droite ou vers la
gauche jusqu’à ce que vous obteniez dans le viseur l’image que vous recherchez.

length, but the longer the focal length, the larger the image and the shallower the depth of

Zooming the lens from 28mm to 200mm decreases the maximum aperture approx. 1 /3 of
an f/stop. For cameras with TTL metering, there is no need to adjust the aperture.
Likewise, for TTL automatic flash photography with Nikon Speedlights, no adjustment is
required. However, when the flash-to-subject distance approaches either the near or far
limit of the automatic shooting range, the aperture may need to be adjusted slightly.
When using a separate exposure meter or taking photographs in the non-TTL flash mode,
select the appropriate aperture index according to the focal length setting in the following
way:

The green aperture index is used for the 28mm focal length setting and the yellow one for
the 200mm setting. For other focal length settings, for example, when the lens is set to an
intermediate focal length (e.g., 70mm), align the aperture ring approx. halfway between
the two indexes. The green aperture index is used for focal length close to 28mm, while
the yellow one is for focal length close to 200mm.
To determine the correct aperture, adjust the aperture by referring to Fig. B–Relationship
between focal length and maximum aperture.

Der grüne Blendenindex gilt für die Brennweiteneinstellung von 28 mm, der gelbe für
200 mm. Für Zwischenbrennweiten (z.B. 70 mm) stellen Sie den Blendenring ungefähr
auf die Mitte zwischen den beiden Indexen ein. Für Brennweiten in den Grenzbereichen
von 28 mm und 200 mm stellen Sie auf den grünen bzw. gelben Blendenindex ein.
