In close-up photography, the LED slowly blinks as a warning if

the subject is closer than approx. 0.75 m in 38mm wide-angle

Installing a battery

Battery type

Use one CR123A or DL123A 3V lithium battery in this camera.

1.^{Open the battery chamber lid.}

While releasing the lock as indicated by the arrow in the illustration

above, open the battery chamber lid.

2.^{Install a new battery.}

Observe the correct polarities and insert the battery in the direction

shown in the illustration above.

3.^{Close the battery chamber lid.}

Firmly press the battery chamber lid until it clicks shut.

The built-in clock is reset when the battery is removed. Remember to

set the time and date. (

Turning the camera on

Open the slide cover.

Once you open the cover in the direction of the arrow, the camera is

turned on, the built-in flash pops up, and the lens extends out to the

wide-angle position.

Slide the cover until it clicks.

When closing the cover, first slide it slightly in to start lens retraction.

When the lens is completely retracted, slowly close the cover.

Checking the battery power

Check the Low Battery Power indicator (

the LCD panel.

If “

” is not indicated, battery power is sufficient.

” is blinking, or all the indicators on the LCD panel do not

appear, the battery is exhausted. Replace it with a new one.

Always check the battery condition before shooting.

It is recommended to carry spare batteries with you. The batteries may

be difficult to obtain in some areas.

Loading the film

Tips on 35mm film

Film cartridge

Film speed

Use DX-coded 35mm film with this camera.

For DX-coded film, film speed is automatically set.

Film speeds valid for automatic setting are ISO50, 100, 200, 400, 800,

1600, and 3200.

With a non-DX-coded film, the film speed is automatically set to

ISO100.

When loading/unloading film, be sure not to open the camera back

cover into direct sunlight.

Film recommended

It is recommended to use ISO400 film, which provides good results in

flash photography, and reasonable protection against camera shake.

1.^{Open the camera back.}

Slide the camera back lock release lever in the direction of the arrow

(1) to open the camera back (2).

2.^{Insert a film cartridge.}

3.^{Pull the film leader out to the red index mark.}

Hold the film cartridge and ensure film is properly positioned with no

slack.

Close the camera back, and check that the film

has been correctly loaded.

Once the camera back is closed, the film automatically advances to the

first frame. Until film loading is complete, “

Imprinting the date/time on pictures

(Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD only)

Select the date/time indicator by pressing the

MODE/SEL button.

The year is indicated by the lower two digits and printed, and the

time is in the 24-hour cycle. The example in the illustration shows

Feb. 1, 2000.

The letter “M” appears to label the month indication, but it is not

imprinted on pictures.

Each time you press the MODE/SEL button, the indicator changes in the

order shown below:

Adjusting diopter

Turn the diopter adjustment dial.

If the image in the viewfinder is unclear, turn and adjust the diopter

adjustment lever.

Caution:

As you look into the viewfinder and operate the diopter adjustment

dial, make sure not to injure your eye with your finger or fingernail

during adjustment.

About the Antifog Viewfinder

The viewfinder of this camera employs an eyepiece with a special

surface coating which reduces fogging on the eyepiece when you

breathe on it or by vapor from perspiration.

If the antifog viewfinder eyepiece is smeared, gently wipe it with a dry,

soft cloth (e.g. a lens cloth). Avoid wiping with force; otherwise, the

eyepiece may be damaged.

Holding the camera properly

Hold the camera firmly.

Prop your elbows against your body and hold the camera with both

hands.

When holding the camera vertically, make sure that the flash is on top as

shown.

Do not block the lens, autofocus window, or flash with your fingers or

hair, or the strap.

Be careful not to press down on the flash unit when it is in the popped

up position.

Operating the Shutter Release button

Lightly press the button and confirm the green

LED lights up.

When you press the button lightly, the focus and exposure are achieved,

and the green LED lights up.

The focus is locked (Focus lock

button is depressed lightly.

Fully depress the Shutter Release button to

take the picture.

Pressing the Shutter Release button abruptly in one stroke may result in

camera shake. Be sure to slowly press the Shutter Release button.

Selecting Panorama mode

(Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD only)

What’s Panorama mode?

In panorama mode, a portion of the top and bottom part of the frame is

cut exposing an area of approx. 13 × 36 mm and is usually printed in

approx. 89 × 254 mm size.

Select Panorama mode by sliding the Panorama

switch.

When you slide the Panorama switch to the left, the letter “P”

appears, and Panorama mode is selected. When the switch is at

the right, Regular mode is selected.

The print results differ as shown below, depending on the setting.

The date/time can also be printed in Panorama mode. (

When compared with regular-format pictures, extra time and cost may be

required for developing/printing panorama pictures.

Caution:

To prevent possible injury to your eye, hold the camera away from

your face when you operate the Panorama switch.

Zooming

Press the Zoom button to compose the picture.

Press the

zoom button for telephoto (120 mm) photography or the

zoom button for wide-angle (38 mm) photography.

Remove your finger from the button when the desired image size is

obtained.

When the camera is not operated for more than 2 minutes, the lens

automatically retracts to the

(wide-angle) position.

Shooting

This camera employs a highly accurate passive-type autofocus

system, which enables easy focusing and sharp shooting of a

distant view or a subject through a window.

Center the autofocus frame mark on the main

subject.

If the main subject is outside the autofocus frame:

achieve focus. (

Lighting/blinking of the green LED

When correct focus has been achieved, the green LED lights up.

The green LED blinks either slowly or quickly when the subject is out of

focus.

aSlow blinking indicates the subject is too close.

For correct focus to be achieved, keep the camera away from the

subject for more than the distance shown below:

38mm wide-angle mode: approx. 0.75 m

120mm telephoto mode: approx. 0.8 m.

aQuick blinking indicates that the subject is difficult to focus. Use the

focus lock. (

Slowly press the Shutter Release button all the

way.

If the subject is dark or backlit in Auto Flash mode, the flash fires

automatically.

Pressing the Shutter Release button abruptly in one stroke may result in

camera shake.

When not in use, close the slide cover to save battery power.

Rewinding the film

Film rewinds automatically.

At the end of the film roll, the film rewinding starts automatically.

While the film is rewinding, the number on the frame counter decreases

one by one. When rewinding is complete, the letter “ ” blinks for

approx. 20 seconds, then stops blinking and remains lit.

If rewinding stops midway through the roll because of a dead battery, it

resumes automatically as soon as the battery is replaced.

Do not open the camera back until the letter “ ” starts blinking.

To rewind the film at mid-roll

Press the

(mid-roll rewind) button using the stud

on the strap lug or the point of ball-point pen.

Once rewinding starts, there is no need to keep the button pressed.

Make sure rewind is complete by checking the

letter “ ” indication.

When the main subject is not in the center of the picture

Focus lock photography

When the subject to be focused is outside the autofocus frame in

the center of the picture, use focus lock, which enables you to

change the picture composition while locking the focus.

1.^{Compose the picture.}

If the shutter is released in a condition like that in the above example

where the main subject is outside the autofocus frame, the background

is in focus, and the main subject is out of focus. In such situations, use

focus lock to change the picture composition while temporarily locking

the focus on the main subject.

2.^{Focus on the main subject.}

Center the autofocus frame on the main subject and lightly press the

Shutter Release button.

The green LED lights up when correct focus has been achieved, and the

focus is locked as long as the Shutter Release button is depressed

lightly.

Do not change the camera-to-subject distance

While the green LED lights up, the focus is locked. Do not change the

camera-to-subject distance.

Difficult-to-focus subjects

The following subjects may be difficult to focus.

Use the focus lock (

p. 26) to focus on another subject

equidistant from the camera, then compose the picture to shoot.

L Subjects of low contrast, such as blue sky, or shiny subjects,

such as a shiny car body or water surface.

L Subjects with continuous and repeated patterns.

L Scenes with subjects at different distances within the

autofocus frame.

L Strongly back lit subjects or those having a bright shiny

background.

Close-up photography

Minimum camera-to-subject distance is apporox. 0.75 m,

or apporox. 0.8 m in Telephoto shooting

If you wish to shoot a subject such as a flower as large as possible in a

picture, you can get as close to the subject as apporox. 0.75 m in Wide-

angle setting, or apporox. 0.8 m in Telephoto setting.

Lighting/blinking of the orange LED

The orange LED blinks slowly while the flash is being charged, and lights

up when the flash is ready to fire. It blinks quickly when you press down

on the flash unit.

aThe orange LED lights up:

… Flash charging is completed. The flash is

ready to fire.

aThe orange LED blinks slowly:

… The flash is being charged. The shutter cannot

be released until the LED lights up. Once take

your finger away from the Shutter Release

button, and lightly press the button again. If

the orange LED lights up, release the shutter.

aThe orange LED blinks quickly:

… The popped-up flash unit is being pressed down. The flash will not

fire when you release the shutter, even if in Flash mode.

Flash shooting range

The reference distance values are shown below.

With ISO100 film speed

(wide-angle) setting: approx. 0.75 to 4.1 m

(telephoto) setting: approx. 0.8 to 2 m

With ISO400 film speed

(wide-angle) setting: approx. 0.75 to 8.2 m

(telephoto) setting: approx. 0.8 to 4 m

The shutter may be released even while the flash unit is pressed

down, but the flash will not fire. Do NOT touch the flash unit.

To automatically fire the flash

Auto Flash mode

The flash automatically fires when there is not enough light or the

subject is backlit.

When you open the slide cover, the power is turned on and the built-in

flash pops up. The “ ” mark appears on the LCD panel and Auto

Flash mode is automatically selected.

Automatic flash firing for a backlit scene

When the subject is backlit, the flash is automatically fired while

simultaneously compensating exposure for the main subject and

the background.

Check that the orange and green LEDs light up,

then shoot.

photography is prohibited, or to achieve a natural lighting effect at

dusk or for night scenes.

tripod to prevent camera shake.

To fire the flash intentionally

Anytime Flash mode

Use this mode to intentionally fire the flash without regard to light

conditions.

To photograph a person in a night view

Slow Sync Flash mode

Use this mode to brighten both the subject and the background in

a night view or at dusk.

Use a tripod or place the camera on a stable

flat surface.

Since slow shutter speeds are usually selected in this mode, use a

tripod to prevent camera shake.

To reduce the "Red-eye" effect

Red-eye Reduction mode

In flash photography, the subject’s eyes may sometimes appear

bright red. To reduce this “red-eye” effect, use this mode.

Press the button until “

The Red-eye Reduction lamp lights up for approx. a second before the

flash fires. Be careful not to move the camera or let the subject move

until the flash fires.

While the orange LED is blinking with the Shutter Release button

pressed lightly, the flash is being charged, and the shutter cannot be

released. Lightly press the Shutter Release button again, and release

the shutter after the orange LED stops blinking and stays lit.

Red-eye Reduction mode is not automatically canceled by turning the

power off. To cancel the Red-eye Reduction mode, press the

button until “ ” disappears from the LCD panel.

About Red-eye Reduction mode

Using the self-timer

Use the self-timer when you wish to include yourself in the

picture.

Use a tripod or place the camera on a stable

flat surface.

Press the

Compose the picture, and press the Shutter

Release button.

Focus and exposure are achieved by pressing the Shutter Release

button lightly.

When the Shutter Release button is pressed all the way, the Red-eye

reduction/Self-timer lamp blinks for approx. 8 seconds, then lights up

for 2 seconds before the shutter is released.

After the shot, Self-Timer mode is canceled.

Self-Timer mode is automatically canceled if the camera is not operated

for more than approx. 2 minutes or when the slide cover is closed.

Using the remote control (optional)

For releasing the shutter from a distance

The shooting distance for remote control operation is

within approx. 5 m

The shooting distance of the remote control is within approx. 5 m while

facing the camera. If the camera-to-subject distance is more than 5 m

away, use the self-timer. (

Compose the picture, aim the remote control

unit at the camera, and press the Shutter

Release button on the unit.

The Red-eye reduction/Self-timer lamp lights up for approx. 2 seconds

before the shutter is released.

Within 2 minutes after taking the last shot, you can still continue to

shoot by remote control.

The life of the battery in the remote control unit is approx. 10 years. If

the battery is exhausted, the shutter may not be released with the

remote control. Visit an authorized Nikon dealer or service center to

Correcting the date and time

(Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD only)

Press the MODE/SEL button for more than 2

seconds.

When the date/time display format is Year/Month/Day, Month/Day/Year,

or Day/Month/Year, the left most number indicator blinks first. For Day/

Hour/Minute display, the center number indicator blinks first.

The date/time correction can be performed with the camera either on or

off. When the camera is on, the data will be immediately registered if

the slide cover is closed, or the Mid-roll Rewind button or a Zoom

button is pressed while the setting is in progress.

2.^{Press the ADJ. button to set the blinking digit.}

Each time you press the ADJ. button, the number advances by one.

Holding the ADJ. button pressed for more than 2 seconds advances the

number quickly.

When the blinking indicator is correctly set,

press the MODE/SEL button again so that the

next indicator blinks.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set all the digits.

Camera care tips

When the camera is not in use:

Close the slide cover to turn the camera off when not in use.

This prevents accidental release of the shutter and resulting

battery drain.

When the camera will not be used for a long

period:

Remove the battery and store the camera in a cool, dry, clean

place.

It is recommended to install a battery once a month and fire the

flash several times to prevent deterioration of the capacitors.

Keep the camera dry:

The Lite Touch Zoom 120ED / Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD is not

waterproof, and therefore should not be exposed to rain or

saltwater.

Do not apply strong shock to the camera:

Do not drop the camera or hit it against a hard surface.

When storing the camera:

Do not leave the camera in an excessively hot and humid place,

such as inside a closed car or car trunk or in front of a heater, or a

place exposed to chemicals such as camphor or naphthalene.

Using a desiccant during storage is recommended.

Maintenance:

Use a dry, soft cloth or commercially available blower brush or

lens cleaner to remove dirt and smudges.

Lightly wipe away the dirt on the Antifog Viewfinder eyepiece with

a dry soft cloth (e.g. a lens cloth).

Use the flash intermittently:

Firing the flash repeatedly makes the battery and camera hot.

Allow sufficient time for them to cool off before taking pictures

again.

When using the camera at low temperature:

The camera may not operate at low temperature with a nearly

exhausted battery. Use a fresh battery at low temperatures, keep

spare batteries warm, and use them alternately.

Battery power may be restored when the temperature returns to

normal.

Mise sous tension de l’appareil

Ouvrez le couvercle coulissant.

Lorsque vous ouvrez le couvercle coulissant dans le sens de la flèche,

l’appareil se met sous tension, le flash intégré jaillit de son logement et

l’objectif se déploie en position grand angle.

Refermez le couvercle jusqu’à ce qu’il s’encliquette.

Pour refermer le couvercle, faites-le d’abord légèrement coulisser de

manière à démarrer la rétraction de l’objectif. Lorsque l’objectif est

complètement rétracté, refermez lentement le couvercle.

Contrôle de la tension de la pile

Vérifiez l’ indicateur de tension de pile

Avec un film non codé DX, la sensibilité se règle automatiquement sur

100 ISO.

Lorsque chargez/retirez un film, veillez à ne pas ouvrir le dos de

l’appareil sous le rayonnement direct du soleil.

Film conseillé

Nous préconisons l’emploi de films 400 ISO qui offrent de bons

résultats en photographie au flash et une protection raisonnable contre

les risques de bougé.

L’année est indiquée par les deux chiffres inférieurs et impressionnée

et l’heure est indiquée suivant le système à 24 heures. L’exemple dans

La lettre “M” apparaît pour identifier l’indication du mois, mais elle n’est

pas impressionnée sur les photos.

A propos du viseur antibuée

Le viseur de cet appareil est doté d’un oculaire ayant subi un

traitement spécial qui réduit l’embuage de l’oculaire même si vous

expirez dessus ou sous l’effet de la vapeur due à la transpiration.

Si l’oculaire du viseur antibuée est souillé, frottez-le délicatement au

moyen d’un chiffon sec et doux (ex. un chiffon pour lentilles). Evitez

d’utiliser la force, sinon vous risquez d’abîmer l’oculaire.

Maintenez fermement l’appareil.

Serrez les coudes le long du corps et maintenez l’appareil des deux

mains.

Sélection du mode panoramique

(Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD uniquement)

Qu’est-ce que le format panoramique ?

En mode panoramique, une partie de la vue est coupée dans le haut et

dans le bas de manière à n’exposer qu’une zone d’environ 13 × 36 mm

et est généralement imprimée en format d’approx. 89 × 254 mm.

Sélectionnez le mode Panorama en faisant

coulisser le sélecteur de mode panoramique.

Lorsque vous faites glisser le sélecteur Panorama vers la gauche, la

lettre “P” apparaît et le mode panoramique est sélectionné. Lorsque le

commutateur est sur la droite, c’est le mode normal qui est sélectionné.

Les résultats de tirage diffèrent comme indiqué ci-dessous, en

fonction du réglage.

Cadrage au zoom

Clignotement/allumage du témoin vert

Le témoin vert s’allume lorsque la mise au point est correctement réglée.

Le témoin vert clignote lentement ou rapidement si le sujet n’est pas

net.

aUn clignotement lent indique que le sujet est trop près de l’appareil.

Pour obtenir une mise au point correcte, gardez l’appareil à une

distance supérieure à :

Position grand angle (38 mm) : approx. 0,75 m

Position téléobjectif (120 mm) : approx. 0,8 m

aUn clignotement rapide indique que le sujet est difficile à mettre au

point. Utilisez la fonction de mémorisation de la mise au point.

Rembobinage du film

Le film se rembobine automatiquement.

Le rembobinage démarre automatiquement à la fin du film.

Pendant le rembobinage du film, le nombre dans le compteur de vues

diminue unité par unité. Lorsque le rembobinage est terminé, la lettre

“

” clignote pendant environ 20 secondes, puis cesse de clignoter et

reste allumée.

Si le rembobinage s’arrête à mi-course parce que la pile est déchargée, il

reprendra automatiquement dès que vous aurez remplacé la pile.

N’ouvrez pas le dos de l’appareil avant que la lettre “ ” se mette à

clignoter.

Pour rembobiner un film partiellement exposé.

Appuyez sur le bouton

Si le sujet à mettre au point se trouve en dehors des repères de la

zone de mise au point, utilisez la fonction de mémorisation de la

mise au point qui vous permet de modifier la composition de

l’image tout en verrouillant le réglage de la mise au point.

1.^{Composez l’image.}

Si vous actionnez le déclencheur comme dans l’exemple ci-dessus où le

sujet principal se trouve en-dehors des repères de la zone de mise au

point automatique, l’arrière-plan sera net tandis que le sujet principal

sera flou. Dans de telles conditions, utilisez la fonction de mémorisation

de la mise au point pour modifier la composition de l’image tout en

verrouillant temporairement le réglage de la mise au point sur le sujet

principal.

2.^{Réglez la mise au point sur le sujet principal.}

Centrez le sujet principal à l’intérieur des repères de la zone de mise au

Sujets difficiles à mettre au point

Les sujets suivants peuvent s’avérer difficiles à mettre au point.

Utilisez la fonction de mémorisation de la mise au point

p. 74) pour faire la mise au point sur un autre sujet

équidistant de l’appareil, puis composez l’image pour prendre la

photo.

L Sujets faiblement contrastés comme un ciel bleu ou des

sujets brillants comme une carrosserie de voiture étincelante

ou la surface de l’eau.

L Sujets à motifs continus et répétitifs.

L Scènes avec des sujets situés à des distances différentes à

s’allume lorsque le flash est prêt à se déclencher. Il clignote rapidement

lorsque vous replacez le flash dans son logement.

Correction de la date et de l’heure

(Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD uniquement)

Appuyez sur le bouton MODE/SEL pendant au

moins 2 secondes.

Si le format d’affichage de la date/heure est Année/Mois/Jour, Mois/

Jour/Année ou Jour/Mois/Année, c’est le chiffre à l’extrême gauche qui

se met à clignoter le premier. Pour le format d’affichage Jour/Heure/

Minutes, c’est le chiffre central qui clignote d’abord.

La correction de la date/heure peut être effectuée avec l’appareil sous ou

hors tension. Lorsque l’appareil est sous tension, les données sont

immédiatement enregistrées si le couvercle coulissant est refermé, ou si

le bouton de commande de rembobinage forcé ou un bouton de zoom

est actionné alors que le réglage est en cours.

Appuyez sur le bouton ADJ. pour régler le

chiffre qui clignote.

Chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bouton ADJ., le nombre avance

d’une unité.

Maintenez le bouton ADJ. enfoncé pendant au moins 2 secondes pour

faire avancer le nombre plus rapidement.

Conseils d’entretien de l’appareil

Lorsque vous n’utilisez pas l’appareil:

Refermez le couvercle coulissant pour mettre l’appareil hors

tension lorsque vous ne l’employez pas.

Cela évite le déclenchement accidentel de l’obturateur et l’usure de

la pile qui en résulte.

Si vous prévoyez de ne pas utiliser

l’appareil pendant une période prolongée:

Retirez la pile et rangez l’appareil dans un endroit frais, sec et

propre.

Nous conseillons d’introduire une pile une fois par mois et de

déclencher le flash plusieurs fois de suite pour éviter une

détérioration des condensateurs.

Gardez l’appareil au sec:

étanche et ne peut de ce fait pas être exposé à la pluie ou à l’eau

Rangement de l’appareil:

Entretien:

Utilisez un chiffon doux et sec ou un pinceau soufflant disponible

température:

stetig, wenn der Blitz ausgelöst werden kann.

Wenn Sie im Blitzmodus den aufgeklappten Blitz

hinunterdrücken, blinkt die LED als Warnung schnell.

4Grüne LED (

Leuchtet, wenn der Fokus scharf eingestellt ist. Blinkt, wenn

keine korrekte Scharfeinstellung erzielt werden kann.

Bei Nahaufnahmen blinkt die LED als Warnung langsam, wenn

das Motiv bei 38 mm-Weitwinkelaufnahmen weniger als 0,75 m

bzw. bei 120 mm-Teleaufnahmen weniger als 0,8 m entfernt ist.

Einlegen der Batterie

Batterietyp

Verwenden Sie für diese Kamera eine Lithiumbatterie CR123A oder

DL123A mit 3 V.

1.^{Öffnen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel.}

Lösen Sie die Arretierung, wie mit dem Pfeil in der Abbildung

dargestellt, und öffnen Sie dabei den Batteriefachdeckel.

2.^{Legen Sie eine neue Batterie ein.}

Achten Sie auf die richtige Polarität, und legen Sie die Batterie in der in

der Abbildung oben dargestellten Richtung ein.

3.^{Schließen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel.}

Drücken Sie fest auf den Batteriefachdeckel, bis er mit einem Klicken

einrastet.

Die eingebaute Uhr wird zurückgesetzt, wenn die Batterie

herausgenommen wird. Denken Sie daran, Uhrzeit und Datum erneut

einzustellen (

Einschalten der Kamera

Öffnen Sie die Schiebeabdeckung.

Wenn Sie die Abdeckung in Pfeilrichtung aufschieben, wird die Kamera

eingeschaltet, der integrierte Blitz klappt auf, und das Objektiv wird in

Weitwinkelposition ausgefahren.

Verschieben Sie die Abdeckung, bis sie mit einem Klicken einrastet.

Wenn Sie die Kamera wieder schließen wollen, verschieben Sie die

Abdeckung zunächst nur leicht nach innen. Das Objektiv wird wieder in

die Kamera zurückgefahren. Erst wenn das Objektiv ganz eingefahren

ist, schieben Sie die Abdeckung langsam vollständig zu.

Überprüfen der Batterieladung

Überprüfen Sie die Anzeige für schwache

Batterie (

) im LC-Display.

Solange “

” nicht angezeigt wird, ist die Batterieladung

ausreichend.

Wenn “

” blinkt oder keine Anzeigen im LC-Display erscheinen, ist

die Batterie erschöpft. Tauschen Sie sie gegen eine neue aus.

Überprüfen Sie vor dem Aufnehmen grundsätzlich immer die Batterie.

Es empfiehlt sich, Ersatzbatterien mit sich zu führen. In einigen Ländern

und Regionen sind geeignete Batterien unter Umständen schwer

erhältlich.

Filmempfindlichkeit

Filmpatrone

Verwenden Sie für diese Kamera 35 mm-Filme mit DX-Code.

Bei einem Film mit DX-Code wird die Filmempfindlichkeit automatisch eingestellt.

Eine automatische Einstellung ist bei folgenden Empfindlichkeiten

möglich: ISO 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 und 3200.

Bei einem Film ohne DX-Code wird die Empfindlichkeit automatisch auf

ISO 100 eingestellt.

Achten Sie beim Einlegen oder Herausnehmen eines Films darauf, die

Rückwand der Kamera nicht in direktem Sonnenlicht zu öffnen.

Empfohlener Filmtyp

Es empfiehlt sich, ISO 400-Filme zu verwenden, die bei Bildern mit Blitz gute

Resultate ergeben und auch verwacklungsunschärfen reduzieren.

1.^{Öffnen Sie die Kamerarückwand.}

Schieben Sie den Entriegelungshebel für die Kamerarückwand in

Pfeilrichtung (1), um die Kamerarückwand (2) zu öffnen.

Ziehen Sie den Filmanfang bis zur roten

Markierung heraus.

Halten Sie die Filmpatrone fest, und achten Sie darauf, den Film richtig

einzulegen. Der Film darf sich nicht nach oben wölben.

Schließen Sie die Kamerarückwand, und

überprüfen Sie, ob der Film richtig eingelegt

wurde.

Sobald die Kamerarückwand geschlossen ist, wird der Film automatisch

zum ersten Bild transportiert. Bis dieser Vorgang abgeschlossen ist,

blinkt “

” im LC-Display.

Wenn der Film korrekt eingelegt wurde, erscheint “ ” im LC-Display.

Wenn der Buchstabe “ ” im LC-Display blinkt, ist der Film nicht richtig

eingelegt. Öffnen Sie die Kamerarückwand nochmals, und legen Sie den

Film erneut ein.

Einbelichten von Datum/Uhrzeit in Aufnahmen

(nur Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD)

Wählen Sie mit der Taste MODE/SEL die

Datums-/Uhrzeitanzeige aus.

Das Jahr wird mit den ersten beiden Ziffern angegeben und

einbelichtet, und die Uhrzeit wird im 24-Stunden-Format

angezeigt. Das Beispiel in der Abbildung zeigt den 1. Feb. 2000.

Der Buchstabe “M” kennzeichnet die Monatsangabe, er wird aber nicht

in die Bilder einbelichtet.

Mit jedem Tastendruck auf die Taste MODE/SEL wechselt die Anzeige

wie unten dargestellt:

In der Abbildung sind die Positionen der Einbelichtung zu sehen.

Das einbelichtete Datum bzw. die Uhrzeit ist unter Umständen schwer zu

erkennen, wenn das Motiv an der Einbelichtungsposition folgende Farbe aufweist:

• Weiß oder hell.

• Orange oder gelb.

Einstellen der Dioptrie

Drehen Sie den Regler für Dioptrieneinstellung.

Wenn das Bild im Sucher nicht scharf ist, drehen Sie den Regler für

Dioptrieneinstellung.

Vorsicht:

Wenn Sie durch den Sucher schauen und den Regler für die

Dioptrieneinstellung bedienen, passen Sie auf, daß Sie sich beim

Einstellen nicht mit dem Finger oder Fingernagel am Auge

verletzen.

Hinweis zum Antibeschlag-Okular

Der Sucher dieser Kamera ist mit einem Okular mit einer

speziellen Oberflächenbeschichtung ausgestattet, so daß das

Okular nicht gleich beschlägt, wenn Sie schwitzen oder Ihre

Atemluft darauf trifft.

Wenn das Okular des Antibeschlag-Suchers verschmutzt ist, wischen

Sie es vorsichtig mit einem trockenen, weichen Tuch (z. B. einem

Objektivreinigungstuch) sauber. Drücken Sie dabei nicht zu stark auf.

Andernfalls kann das Okular beschädigt werden.

Richtiges Halten der Kamera

Halten Sie die Kamera ruhig und fest.

Stützen Sie die Ellbogen gegen den Körper ab, und halten Sie die

Kamera mit beiden Händen.

Wenn Sie die Kamera vertikal halten, achten Sie darauf, daß sich der

Blitz wie in der Abbildung dargestellt oben befindet.

Verdecken Sie das Objektiv, das Autofokusfenster oder den Blitz nicht

mit Fingern, Haaren oder dem Trageriemen.

Achten Sie darauf, nicht auf den Blitz zu drücken, wenn er aufgeklappt

ist.

Drücken des Auslösers

Drücken Sie die Taste leicht, und vergewissern

Sie sich, daß die grüne LED leuchtet.

Wenn Sie die Taste leicht drücken, werden Fokus und Belichtung

eingestellt, und die grüne LED leuchtet auf.

Die Fokuseinstellung bleibt gleich (Fokusspeicherfunktion

solange Sie den Auslöser leicht gedrückt halten.

Drücken Sie den Auslöser ganz nach unten, um

das Bild aufzunehmen.

Wenn Sie den Auslöser abrupt ganz nach unten drücken, kann die

Kamera leicht wackeln. Achten Sie also darauf, den Auslöser langsam zu

drücken.

Auswählen des Panoramamodus

(nur Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD)

Was ist der Panoramamodus?

Im Panoramamodus wird ein Bereich am oberen und unteren Rand des

Filmstreifens ausgespart, so daß etwa 13 × 36 mm belichtet werden.

Die Abzüge haben in der Regel eine Größe von etwa 89 × 254 mm.

Wählen Sie den Panoramamodus aus, indem

Sie den Panoramaschalter verschieben.

Wenn Sie den Panoramaschalter nach links verschieben, wird der

Buchstabe “P” angezeigt, und der Panoramamodus ist ausgewählt.

Wenn der Schalter rechts steht, ist der normale Modus eingestellt.

Je nach Einstellung unterscheiden sich die Abzüge, wie in der

Abbildung unten dargestellt.

Datum/Uhrzeit können auch im Panoramamodus einbelichtet werden (

S. 112).

Das Entwickeln von Panoramabildern und die Anfertigung von Abzügen kann

im Vergleich zu normalformatigen Bildern länger dauern und teurer sein.

Vorsicht:

Halten Sie die Kamera nicht zu nah vors Gesicht, wenn Sie den

Panoramaschalter betätigen. Andernfalls könnten Sie sich mit dem

Finger am Auge verletzen.

Zoomen

Drücken Sie die Tasten Zoom, um den

Bildausschnitt zu wählen.

Drücken Sie für eine Teleaufnahme (120 mm) die Taste Zoom

bzw.

für eine Weitwinkelaufnahme (38 mm) die Taste Zoom

Lassen Sie die Taste los, wenn das Bild in der gewünschten Größe

angezeigt wird.

Wenn die Kamera mehr als 2 Minuten lang nicht bedient wird, wechselt

das Objektiv automatisch wieder in die Weitwinkelposition

Fotografieren

Diese Kamera arbeitet mit einem hochpräzisen, passiven

Autofokussystem, mit dem Sie auch bei Fernaufnahmen oder beim

Fotografieren durch ein Fenster mühelos fokussieren und

Aufnahmen mit hoher Bildschärfe erzielen können.

Richten Sie die Markierung für den

Autofokusrahmen in der Mitte auf das

Wenn die grüne LED leuchtet/blinkt

Wenn der Fokus korrekt eingestellt ist, leuchtet die grüne LED auf.

Die grüne LED blinkt langsam oder schnell, wenn das Motiv nicht fokussiert

ist.

aLangsames Blinken zeigt an, daß das Motiv zu nahe ist.

Damit der Fokus korrekt eingestellt werden kann, halten Sie die

Kamera mindestens in folgendem Abstand vom Motiv:

38 mm-Weitwinkelmodus: etwa 0,75 m

120 mm-Telemodus: etwa 0,8 m

aSchnelles Blinken zeigt an, daß sich das Motiv nicht fokussieren läßt.

Verwenden Sie die Fokusspeicherfunktion (

S. 122).

Drücken Sie den Auslöser nun langsam ganz

nach unten.

Wenn Sie mit der Blitzautomatik arbeiten und das Motiv zu dunkel ist

oder sich im Gegenlicht befindet, wird der Blitz automatisch ausgelöst.

Wenn Sie den Auslöser abrupt ganz nach unten drücken, kann es

Verwacklungsunschärfen geben.

Wenn Sie die Kamera nicht benutzen, schließen Sie die

Schiebeabdeckung, um die Batterie zu schonen.

Zurückspulen des Films

Der Film wird automatisch zurückgespult.

Wenn das Ende der Filmrolle erreicht ist, wird der Film automatisch

zurückgespult.

Während der Film zurückgespult wird, verringert sich die Zahl im

Bildzähler nacheinander jeweils um eins. Ist der Film ganz

zurückgespult, blinkt der Buchstabe “ ” etwa 20 Sekunden und leuchtet

dann stetig.

Wenn während des Zurückspulens die Batterie leer wird, spult die

Kamera den restlichen Film zurück, sobald eine neue Batterie eingelegt

wird.

Öffnen Sie die Kamerarückwand erst, wenn der Buchstabe “ ” zu

blinken anfängt.

So spulen Sie einen nur teilweise belichteten

Film zurück

Drücken Sie mit der Spitze der Schlaufenöse oder

eines Kugelschreibers die Taste

Wenn sich das Hauptmotiv nicht in der

Bildmitte befindet

Fotografieren mit Fokusspeicherung

Wenn sich das Motiv, das scharfgestellt werden soll, außerhalb des

Autofokusrahmens in der Bildmitte befindet, verwenden Sie die

Fokusspeicherfunktion. Bei dieser Funktion können Sie den Bildausschnitt

nach Wunsch verändern, während der Fokus unverändert bleibt.

Richten Sie die Kamera auf den gewünschten

Bildausschnitt.

Wenn Sie in einer Situation wie im Beispiel oben, wenn sich das

Hauptmotiv außerhalb des Autofokusrahmens befindet, den Auslöser

drücken, wird der Bildhintergrund scharf eingestellt, und das

Hauptmotiv ist verschwommen. Verwenden Sie in solchen Situationen

die Fokusspeicherfunktion, und verschieben Sie den Bildausschnitt,

während der Fokus auf dem Hauptmotiv gleich bleibt.

2.^{Fokussieren Sie auf das Hauptmotiv.}

Richten Sie den Autofokusrahmen in der Mitte auf das Hauptmotiv, und

drücken Sie den Auslöser leicht.

Wenn der Fokus korrekt eingestellt ist, leuchtet die grüne LED auf.

Solange Sie den Auslöser leicht gedrückt halten, behält die Kamera die

Fokuseinstellung unverändert bei.

Ändern Sie nicht die Entfernung zwischen Kamera und Motiv!

Solange die grüne LED leuchtet, bleibt der Fokus unverändert. Ändern

Sie nicht die Entfernung zwischen Kamera und Motiv.

Schwer fokussierbare Motive

Bei Motiven der folgenden Art kann es zu Problemen beim Fokussieren kommen.

Fokussieren Sie mit der Fokusspeicherfunktion (

S. 122) zunächst auf ein

anderes Motiv, das sich im gleichen Abstand von der Kamera befindet, und

wählen Sie dann den gewünschten Bildausschnitt.

Motive mit schwachen Kontrasten, zum Beispiel blauer Himmel oder

glänzende Oberflächen wie Autolacke oder Wasserflächen.

L Motive mit Gleichförmigen Strukturen.

L Szenen mit mehreren Motiven in unterschiedlichem Abstand

innerhalb des Autofokusrahmens.

L Motive bei starkem Gegenlicht oder Motive mit einem sehr

Mit der Fernbedienung können Sie die kamera aus einer gewissen

Entfernung auslösen.

Die Reichweite der Fernbedienung beträgt ca. 5 m.

Die Fernbedienung hat eine Reichweite von ca. 5 m, wenn sie auf die

Kamera gerichtet wird. Wenn die Entfernung zwischen Kamera und Motiv

mehr als 5 m beträgt, verwenden Sie den Selbstauslöser (

Die Lebensdauer der Batterie in der Fernbedienung beträgt etwa 10

Jahre. Wenn die Batterie leer ist, funktioniert die Fernbedienung nicht

mehr. Wenden Sie sich an einen autorisierten Nikon-Händler oder ein

Korrigieren von Datum und Uhrzeit

(nur Lite Touch Zoom 120ED QD)

Drücken Sie mehr als 2 Sekunden lang die

Taste MODE/SEL.

Bei den Anzeigeformaten Jahr/Monat/Tag, Monat/Tag/Jahr oder Tag/

Monat/Jahr für Datum und Uhrzeit blinkt die Zahlenangabe ganz links

zuerst. Bei der Anzeige Tag/Stunde/Minuten blinkt die Zahlenangabe in

der Mitte zuerst.

Bei der Korrektur von Datum und Uhrzeit kann die Kamera ein- oder

ausgeschaltet sein. Wenn die Kamera eingeschaltet ist, werden die

Daten sofort gespeichert, wenn die Schiebeabdeckung geschlossen oder

die Taste zum Zurückspulen teilbelichteter Filme bzw. die Taste Zoom

während des Einstellens gedrückt wird.

Stellen Sie die blinkende Zahl mit der Taste

ADJ. ein.

Mit jedem Tastendruck auf ADJ. wird die Zahl um eins weitergeschaltet.

Wenn Sie die Taste ADJ. mehr als 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt halten,

laufen die Zahlen schnell durch.

Wenn die blinkende Angabe korrekt eingestellt

ist, drücken Sie die Taste MODE/SEL erneut,

so daß die nächste Angabe zu blinken beginnt.

Tips zur Pflege der Kamera

Wenn die Kamera nicht benutzt wird:

Schließen Sie die Schiebeabdeckung, um die Kamera

auszuschalten, wenn Sie sie nicht benutzen.

Auf diese Weise verhindern Sie, daß versehentlich eine Aufnahme

erfolgt und der Batterie dadurch Strom entzogen wird.

Wenn die Kamera längere Zeit nicht benutzt

wird:

Nehmen Sie die Batterie heraus, und bewahren Sie die Kamera in

kühler, trockener und sauberer Umgebung auf. Darüber hinaus

empfiehlt es sich, einmal im Monat eine Batterie einzulegen und

mehrmals den Blitz auszulösen. Auf diese Weise verhindern Sie,

daß die Leistungsfähigkeit der Kondensatoren nachläßt.

Schützen Sie die Kamera vor Feuchtigkeit:

Entfernen Sie Staub und Verschmutzungen mit einem weichen,

trockenen Tuch oder einem handelsüblichen Staubbläser oder

Pinsel.

Entfernen Sie Verunreinigungen auf dem Okular des Antibeschlag-

Suchers vorsichtig mit einem trockenen, weichen Tuch (z. B.

einem Objektivreinigungstuch).

Verwenden Sie den Blitz nur in Abständen:

Wenn der Blitz mehrmals hintereinander ausgelöst wird, erhitzen

sich die Batterie und die Kamera.

Warten Sie in einem solchen Fall, bis Batterie und Kamera wieder

abgekühlt sind, bevor Sie weitere Aufnahmen machen.

Wenn Sie in kalter Umgebung fotografieren

wollen:

Wenn Sie die Kamera in kalter Umgebung verwenden wollen und

die Batterie fast leer ist, funktioniert die Kamera unter Umständen

nicht. Verwenden Sie bei niedrigen Temperaturen eine neue

Batterie, halten Sie Ersatzbatterien warm, und verwenden Sie die

Batterien abwechselnd.

Die Funktionsfähigkeit der Batterie wird möglicherweise bei

normalen Temperaturen wiederhergestellt.

Sicherheitshinweise zum Umgang mit der Kamera

ACHTUNG

•

Versuchen Sie nicht, die Kamera zu zerlegen, zu reparieren oder

in irgendeiner Form zu modifizieren. In der Kamera befinden

sich Hochspannungsschaltkreise. Daher besteht bei solchen

Maßnahmen die Gefahr eines elektrischen Schlags. Außerdem

kann es dadurch zu Fehlfunktionen der Kamera kommen.

•

Wenn die Kamera herunterfällt oder anderweitig beschädigt

wird, berühren Sie keine freiliegenden Metallteile im Inneren der

Kamera. In der Kamera befinden sich

Hochspannungsschaltkreise. Es besteht die Gefahr eines

elektrischen Schlags. Nehmen Sie die Batterie heraus, und

lassen Sie die Kamera über Ihren Nikon-Händler reparieren.

•

Wenn Sie an der Kamera Rauchentwicklung feststellen,

schalten Sie sie sofort aus. Lassen Sie die Kamera abkühlen,

und nehmen Sie dann die Batterie heraus. Lassen Sie die

Kamera über Ihren Nikon-Händler reparieren.

•

Tauchen Sie die Kamera nicht ins Wasser, und schützen Sie sie

vor Spritzwasser. Andernfalls besteht die Gefahr eines Brandes

oder eines elektrischen Schlags.

Benutzen Sie die Kamera nicht in der Nähe brennbarer Gase.

Andernfalls besteht die Gefahr eines Brandes oder einer

Explosion.

Schauen Sie nicht durch den Sucher direkt in die Sonne oder

eine andere starke Lichtquelle. Dies könnte zu Schädigungen

der Netzhaut und dadurch zu einer permanenten

Beeinträchtigung des Sehvermögens führen.

•

Achten Sie darauf, daß sich die Trageschlaufe nicht um Ihren

Hals wickelt. Achten Sie insbesondere darauf, daß Kinder die

Trageschlaufe nicht benutzen. Andernfalls besteht

Erstickungsgefahr.

•

Bewahren Sie Batterien nicht in der Reichweite von Kindern auf.

Falls eine Batterie verschluckt wird, wenden Sie sich umgehend

an einen Arzt.

Verwenden Sie zum Reinigen der Kamera keinen Verdünner,

Benzin und keine anderen aggressiven Reinigungsmittel. Dies

könnte zu Schäden an der Kamera, zu einem Brand oder zu

gesundheitlichen Schäden führen.

VORSICHT

•

Lösen Sie den Blitz nie direkt vor den Augen einer anderen

Person aus. Dies könnte zu vorübergehender Blindheit führen.

Bedienen Sie die Kamera nicht mit nassen Händen. Andernfalls

besteht die Gefahr eines elektrischen Schlags.

Halten Sie die Kamera von Kindern fern, damit diese die Batterie

oder anderes Kleinzubehör nicht verschlucken.

Halten Sie die Kamera nicht zu nah vors Gesicht, wenn Sie den

Panoramaschalter betätigen. Andernfalls könnten Sie sich mit

dem Finger am Auge verletzen.

•

Wenn Sie durch den Sucher schauen und den Regler für

Dioptrieneinstellung bedienen, passen Sie auf, daß Sie sich

beim Einstellen nicht mit dem Finger oder Fingernagel am Auge

verletzen.

Wenn Sie die Kamera nicht benutzen, schließen Sie die

Schiebeabdeckung, und lassen Sie die Kamera nicht im direkten

Sonnenlicht liegen. Sonnenlicht kann, wenn es direkt ins

Objektiv fällt, einen Brand auslösen.

Tragen Sie die Kamera nicht, wenn sie auf einem Stativ montiert

ist. Sie könnten irgendwo anstoßen und sich oder andere

verletzen.

•

Laufen Sie nicht mit dem Auge am Sucher. Sie könnten

stolpern, stürzen und sich verletzen.

Werfen Sie gebrauchte Batterien nicht ins Feuer. Schließen Sie

die Batterie nicht kurz, und zerlegen bzw. erhitzen Sie sie nicht.

Andernfalls besteht die Gefahr eines Brandes oder einer

Explosion.

•

Befolgen Sie die Warnhinweise, die auf einer Batterie aufgedruckt

sind, damit sich die Batterie nicht entzündet oder explodiert.

Verwenden Sie unter keinen Umständen Batterien, die in dieser

Bedienungsanleitung nicht genannt sind. Eine ungeeignete

Batterie könnte zu Hitzeentwicklung oder einem Brand führen.

•

Wenn Batterieflüssigkeit auf Ihre Kleider oder Haut gerät,

waschen Sie sie mit klarem Wasser ab. Sollte Batterieflüssigkeit

in die Augen geraten, spülen Sie sie umgehend mit sauberem

Wasser aus, und wenden Sie sich an einen Arzt.
